Capítulo 41: Chapter Forty-one: Proving Innocence! Who Truly is the King of the Underground?

During the initial counter-offensive against the underground lair by the three clans, Hu Yan Longzhu had not yet fully matured in strength and was soundly thrashed by Gulu Mi's tentacles, ultimately relying on the intervention of the divine servant, the old leader, to secure victory.

"You hold a grudge against me for having struck you! Thus, you speak ill of me! That monster has nothing to do with me!" Gulu Mi fervently protested, only to be met with a cold laugh from Hu Yan Longzhu.

"That creature excels at burrowing and resembles the Purple-Skinned Monsters closely; it seems rather too coincidental for such a resemblance to exist. Wouldn't you agree, King of the Underground?"

"I did not! I truly had no part in this…" Gulu Mi was on the verge of tears, her body even threatening to revert to its slime form. Yet, according to Hu Yan Longzhu's description, that monster indeed bore a striking resemblance to Gulu Mi. No matter how many times she denied it, her assertions came off as feeble.

The physicians and guards within the tent exchanged glances, subtly adopting defensive postures.

"Enough!"

Nalan Xia timely stepped between the two. "Regardless of Gulu Mi's former identity, she is now a loyal follower of the deity! Until there is irrefutable evidence, none can condemn her!"

Upon hearing this, Hu Yan Longzhu's expression shifted, and he turned away in silence. Meanwhile, Gulu Mi was profoundly moved, tears brimming in her eyes. Although Nalan Xia assigned her an overwhelming amount of work, leaving her exhausted, she stood up for her during critical moments…

What a good person she was!

The tense atmosphere eased slightly as Nalan Xia took Gulu Mi's hand, advising her earnestly, "You must not only vindicate yourself but also demonstrate the capabilities of the King of the Underground. If that monster appears again…"

Just then, the tent flap was flung open, and a soldier rushed in, panic-stricken. "Leader Xia! The monster has reemerged and is devouring the jade wheat fields to the south!"

Without needing further prompting from Nalan Xia, Gulu Mi's purple eyes widened as she strode purposefully towards the exit. "I will go and vanquish it!"

...

Boom—

The flourishing jade wheat fields were upheaved from beneath! As mud and sand flew, numerous jade wheat grains were devoured by a massive beast with a gaping maw! This beast towered three heads high and boasted unnaturally long claws at the ends of its limbs. Its razor-sharp appendages could effortlessly rend the solid earth apart as if it were tender meat!

Most revoltingly, it possessed enormous moth-like wings. As it flapped them rapidly, it could swiftly change positions, making it exceedingly challenging for the encircling warriors of the three clans to execute a coordinated attack. Occasionally, a few Zuo Qiu warriors managed to jab at the beast with their spears, but their efforts proved futile against its tough hide, often resulting in them being flung aside with a single swipe of its claw! Fortunately, all were fully armored, and their aluminum suits mitigated much of the impact. Otherwise, a mere graze could have resulted in grievous injuries!

"Block this accursed monster! If we allow it to continue wreaking havoc, our families will have no food come winter!" Over twenty warriors yelled in unison as they surged forward, attempting to subdue the creature.

Alas, the beast was astonishingly agile, darting aside in an instant and turning to bite the nearest unfortunate soul!

"It's over…" This Hu Yan warrior's face reflected despair.

Swish, swish, swish, swish, swish—

At that moment, a swift whistling tore through the air. Countless blue-violet gelatinous tentacles shot forth, ensnaring the great beast in a tight embrace!

...

"Ah, finally, Gulu Mi has left the city…" Wang Hui stood beside the glass dome, keenly observing the unfolding events in the miniature world. The creature that had caused such chaos was the product of his fusion of a mole and small flying insects using the Yin-Yang Fish. It could be aptly named the "Moth-Mole!"

Its size was slightly smaller than that of the original flying insect, yet it exhibited even greater agility. Possessing the burrowing capabilities and acute sense of smell of the mole, combined with wings that flapped at astonishing speeds, it was indeed a formidable foe!

Previously, Hu Yan Longzhu and Zuo Qiu Tang had been caught off guard in their battle against it. Yet, despite this creature's prowess, Gulu Mi, having lived for hundreds of years and consumed vast quantities of source crystals, surpassed the Moth-Mole in raw strength. Observing the current battle, it was evident that Gulu Mi was restricting the Moth-Mole's mobility significantly with her extensive array of tentacles and source goo.

Were it not for Gulu Mi's lack of flight capability, the Moth-Mole would likely have succumbed to her rapid, wide-ranging assaults!

"Time is growing short," Wang Hui mused.

After a brief wait, he watched as the Moth-Mole, on the verge of defeat, managed to wriggle free from several gelatinous tentacles and, showing no reluctance, burrowed back into the earth to flee swiftly!

This was an order left by Wang Hui. Every so often, he would initiate a few skirmishes against the three clans. When facing formidable opponents like Gulu Mi and the divine servant, the Moth-Mole was directed to prioritize its own safety and relocate for guerrilla tactics.

As the warriors of the three clans began fortifying their bodies, the casualties caused by a single Moth-Mole would not be substantial. Its existence served two purposes: to maintain the vibrancy of the little folk and prevent a drastic decline in source yield, while simultaneously applying persistent pressure on the three clans to encourage their civilizational development.

If the majority of people were to adopt a passive approach, how could progress occur?

As the sovereign, Wang Hui bore the responsibility to motivate the little folk to strive for greatness and actively pursue advancement!

"For the continuation and enhancement of our race, let us exert ourselves a little more!"

With that, he sealed the glass dome, returning the flow of time to normal speed. Under Wang Hui's watchful gaze, the little folk of the three clans busied themselves.

Due to the formidable underground threat posed by the Moth-Mole, patrolling warriors were expanded across various locations. Farmers hurried to harvest their crops, aware that the Moth-Mole could emerge unexpectedly to plunder, leading to fierce battles with nearby warriors. When the divine servant or the combined forces of the beast Griffin and Dragon-Horse arrived for reinforcement, the Moth-Mole would retreat after a swift confrontation, refusing to engage further.

Meanwhile, Gulu Mi, tasked with pursuing it underground, found herself perpetually a step behind, infuriated and exclaiming in frustration!

This even led many to speculate that the Moth-Mole was a new creature secretly crafted by Gulu Mi herself, intended to cultivate her own strength!

Otherwise, how could the King of the Underground consistently fail to capture it?

Gulu Mi felt her anguish unexpressed. If it came down to a pure comparison of underground mobility, she was undoubtedly on par with the Moth-Mole. Yet, how could she contend with a foe that possessed wings?

When pressed, the Moth-Mole would simply burrow to the surface and soar into the sky, leaving Gulu Mi, a mere clump of clay slime, in dismay. Logically speaking, with allies like the Griffin at their disposal, they should have been able to coordinate effectively against the Moth-Mole. However, Gulu Mi had previously incurred the wrath of the Griffin, having bound it in the underground lair for prolonged periods, creating an insurmountable rift between them.

Unless Wang Hui, the deity, intervened to mediate, the prospect of any meaningful "collaboration" between them was virtually impossible!

The Moth-Mole effectively executed a strategy of agile retreat, flanking maneuvers, and swiftly changing locations after causing a ruckus. In such a convoluted standoff, the conflict persisted for several months!
