'You should have said that earlier!' Baiyi bellowed in his mind, aghast at the loss he had just realized he had suffered. However, he quickly shelved the thought and grabbed his communication slab, with the intention of contacting his students. Fortunately for him, they had not been attacked.
"Alright, then. We'll proceed as planned. We'll meet up soon," Baiyi said, bringing the conversation to an end.
The Fifth Walker had not expected the Wise Mad King to stoop so low that he would work with demons. What else was waiting to happen? Moreover, there were no Voidwalkers standing guard over Mia at the moment.

Wow. Here goes:
I really like the Mad King.
I like the conflicts he got thrown into. I like how tight a spot he is in, and how he has friends and acquaintances who call him by his real name or rate his royal food suck-a** and disgusting. I didn’t get to see him being madly-wise (we did get to see him just plain mad though, always at the verge of tantrums and failing to flip a f*cking table that one time), but he did show himself to be really meticulous and a good governor to his Kingdom— yea, it started out as an informed attribute, but in this chapter he seemed to regard his meetings as important enough to almost react to an interference with a tantrum... again. Look, the “mad” in “Mad King” is supposed to mean “madness” and “bonkers” and “crazy-genius-ish”, but so far dude’s been more of the hulk variety!
Anyway, I also like how the Mad King started out like a goddamned hubris a**hole (back in his Second Reverend debut he had been quite a Tony Stark-level d***), and then subsequently showed more and more fear and reservation. It’s sweet! And intriguing. Jesus. What if he ended up pulling an MCU-Thanos and becomes a sympathetic, fleshed out villain?
...Well, that wouldn’t be bad at all.
