One more lightning icicle might not have sounded like much, but if Saleen had just one more of the lightning icicles to spare during his fighting the great head inquisitor, he would not have almost died. What Saleen lacked back in that particular battle was simply the power to deal the final blow.

He had given the demon magic book to Eleanor and he was thinking of giving the set of magic books given to Saleen by the grandmaster to his student, Truman . 

Even if Saleen was not able to stay by Truman's side to guide him, it would do Truman a lot of good, by having take notes and write his thoughts in the magic books, as well as letting him try to store magic with them.

Saleen had considerably reduced need for magic books after he possessed the Starline Armament. A magic book could store 18 magic spells, six of them his level. 

The six spells corresponded to the six major elements. It would be ridiculous to have all six to be from one single element.
