I walked up to the window but looked back first.
That eagle was now out of sight, but the way it had just got up after me kicking it, hitting the roof, and then the ground was strange. Eagles were not nighttime hunters, nor did they tend to fly around that much at night because of their poor night vision.
While I was white, there was no reason for the eagle to be over the city unless it had a nest on top of the wall. Still, it was strange. I wonder if Senna had enlisted the help of a shapeshifter or something like that.
Whatever the eagle was, it was gone now.
I turned back to the window and hopped up on the ledge. Listenia was sitting in bed cross-legged with her eyes closed, so I started to paw the window to get her attention. She looked up and smiled at me as she got up and opened the window, scooping me into her arms.
"I was starting to think that you had been captured by one of the roaming parties," Listenia smiled and rubbed her face into my side.
