Capítulo 12: Died, In A Single Kick.
Shinji's heartbeat echoed in his palms as the Koshi villager approached him, with a small smile on his face.
However, Shinji faked a smile, despite his fear, "Humph...do you think showing up will spare your lives? Tell your men to kneel if they want to be spared."
The man laughed at Shinji's unusual threat, and more figures emerged from the surrounding bushes.
"Unlike you guys. We from the Koshi Village, got here a day before, which allowed us to perfectly set a trap for you. Even though the jaguars are gone, if you fight us, with your team now, you will eventually lose in the end."
Shinji glanced at his group, and his expression darkened a little.
'He's right. Although we have greater numbers, they have the advantage in weapons, since Sora threw away half of ours.'
However, Shinji maintained his confident look, clicking his tongue in disdain.
"Muscle heads from Koshi Village always resort to violence. I expect as much from uneducated men who mature at forty."
Hearing his village being mocked, the muscular man, Ryoto Morí, pulled out the arrow from his shoulder, before smashing it in rage.
"Don't mock us, Kurenai Village. You're no better than us. You might be even worse."
Shinji burst into laughter like he had heard the biggest joke in the world, and gained admiring gazes from his teammates, except from Tsukino, who looked at him with envy for taking over her position.
After a few minutes, Shinji's laughter ceased, and he raised his palm.
"Five chances. Use your best men to duel with five of ours, but only two matches should be to the death. This way, we'll gain insight into each other's strong forces. Only a first class idiots would disagree to such a thoughtful suggestion."
Ryoto scowled, at Shinji's offensive words, but soon grinned.
"Fine, I select you! I can also use a bowl and arrow. We'll exchange kill shots; the first to die loses."
Shinji's confidence drained, and he cursed his luck inwardly. 'How can a muscular man like him be an archer? He is the type to use a hammer or Axe.'
Shinji put his thoughts at the back of his head, released a faint laugh. "How can you expect me to fight you without arrows? Won't that be one-sided?"
Ryoto smirked. "I'll give you mine."
Shinji began sweating profusely at Ryoto's words, but Luckily Tsukino came to his rescue, and walked towards the muscular man.
"Why are you talking to him? He's not even the leader of this operation!"
Ryoto cut her off, "I know."
Tsukino's anger boiled over, "Then why aren't you challenging the leader first? Are you scared of losing to a girl who started training just a year ago?"
Ryoto chuckled, looking at Tsukino with pity. "Do you think they follow you because they admire you, or something? It's because you're the only available girl. The moment another girl arrives, they'll dump you for her, no matter how ugly she is."
Tsukino's face contorted in anger, and Ryoto continued, "They know you're using them to gain authority. Maybe with the new girl, they'll find what they're looking for."
Tsukino couldn't help, but open and close her mouth from the truth of those words. The other girls had already told her about it, and some of them were fated to be single for life once they go back home. After all, they would be a majority of women waiting for this group of men in the village, so she had to choose who she wanted to be with while she was here, before she greatly regrets it in the future.
Ryoto could see the emotions dancing on her face, and took hold of her head as he brought his face close to her, and smirked.
"Don't worry, little one. Daddy will kill all the men who stand in your way of being the leader. Daddy loves strong women."
Tsukino felt insulted and threw a punch, but Ryoto caught it, twisted her arm, and threw her towards Lucy and Sora.
The two sidestepped, letting her crush on the ground with a loud thud.
Ryoto chuckled after seeing this sight, before pointing at one of Tsukino's pursuers. "You! Why do you admire someone who did not even move a hand to rescue the person you like?"
The boy shuddered for a few seconds, before replying, "He's a hard worker, and even the seniors admire him. Unlike Lady Tsukino-Chan and the Great Scholar-Kun, Lucy-San's achievements come from effort and determination, not talent. Some say he might be the next Kenzei in the future."
Ryoto asked the others, and received similar answers, which made him smirk at Lucy.
"Your actions are ruthless, but look at Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Tokugawa Leyasu, weren't they all cruel in their actions, and yet, people still followed them."
Ryoto's eyes locked onto Lucy. "To me, you're the greatest threat. I might as well take care of you now while I have the upper hand."
Lucy looked at him coldly. "You're right."
Sora sighed as she watched Lucy approach Ryoto, who was ordering his henchman to bring him a hammer. She already knew the outcome of this battle and was too tired to even look.
However, she couldn't help but raise a brow at the sight of Ryuto swinging his war hammer like a toy.
"Unfortunately for you, I also use a hammer! Your teammates said no one was willing to exchange blows with you, but I am, so-!"
Whoosh!
Before he could finish speaking, his head was suddenly crushed to the ground like a tomato, as his soul slowly drifted to the afterlife.
Lucy ignored the dead body and turned to leave.
"He was the strongest among them. Continuing with the Scholar's suggestion would be a waste of time now."
Hearing his name, Shinji blinked repeatedly, pulling himself out of his stupor. "Care to explain what happened?"
The members of both villages were left speechless, unable to comprehend Lucy's swift movement. It was too fast to discern whether it was a kick, slap, or punch.
In the end, they could only call off the operation and return to their respective villages.
Somewhere in the clouds, two women stood in mid-air, gazing down at the position where the battle had taken place.
One of them furrowed her brows, dissatisfied with the outcome.
"That Silver Hammer guy is really something, to think he would kill the person my samurai where bragging to be the future of Koshi Village, in the up coming war in one swift kick. If I wasn't focusing then I would have missed it."
The girl beside her remained silent, and her scowl deepened. "Still, I won't forgive that girl for taking out my yugen!"
As soon as the words left her lips, a powerful force slammed her to the ground, and in the next second, she found herself buried deep into a palm-shaped hole, with blood trickling from her lips.
The woman in the sky spoke in a disdainful tone, "Yumi, I thought we agreed to only use Tama Artists to attack the mortals of our own villagers. How dare you let your mortals bring a yugen to control stage 2 profound beasts?"
Yumi remained silent, unable to retort against the cold, sweet voice. She knew she was in the wrong and was terrified. If 30 of her bones weren't broken, she would have banged her head onto the ground in fright.
Lila ignored Yumi's silence and gazed at the Kurenai Village mortals with narrowed eyes.
A playful smile spread across her lips.
"I was planning to wait, but I've changed my mind. I'll play with them a little. Fufufu, the next civil war will be interesting."
With a click of her fingers, Lila vanished into thin air.

Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Tokugawa Leyasu - this are some of the evil leaders in Japanese history. One of them killed Christians, and the other were just ruthless, but still moved the hearts of people. You can check them up if you're interested.
The reason I started using words like Chan, kun, and San, is because this words are honorifics. Not something you could call a person you are suspicious of, and might not be sure if you can save them if asked to do so.
As for Lucy, and Akane. They were just close, to the point of calling each other with their first names in public.
