Capítulo 6: Mammot’s Journey [2/4]

"How long has it been?" Mammot muttered upon allowing his vision to wander around, the vast clouds spread across the sky, and the long, green grass painting the ground beneath his feet.

He pondered, staring at the dense towering trees scattered over the horizon, separating the Beast Paradise island from the rest of the world.

He remembered the deep water and vast sea past that point, the one his tribe elders claimed to be lethal for their kind.

But then he had been challenged once by Taurus, lost the fight to a mere human, and made a promise to accompany him for the rest of his life.

He stared at the far south, the direction they took after getting corrupted by Taurus' own hands back then. He blinked, pushing his thoughts aside as he marched toward the trees ahead.

"Mammot!!! Have you lost your mind?!" A heavy voice assaulted his ears upon leaving the tribe's grounds, prompting him to turn his head around.

They were behemoths of a similar size to him and the only thing that separated them was the system and the fact he could speak to other races freely.

His eyes fell on them, feeling unbothered to explain himself.

His pride didn't allow it after all he had gone through in his past life from fighting against the abyssal force to maintain his sanity to the deeds he had done under Taurus.

He released a heavy breath before continuing as the trees collapsed, opening the path forward for him.

The night eventually fell and Mammot arrived at the island's shore, he halted in his path before making up his mind to take a nap.

"Well…" He stared around the shore, laying down was easy but standing was a living nightmare for large creatures such as himself.

He eventually smiled, thankful his past life experience came to action at this point.

Mammot began pushing the sand with his tusks, creating many piles not far from the water.

He slowly lowered his colossal frame, the ground trembling beneath his weight upon finishing off the hollow space he made.

He drifted asleep for a couple of hours until the dawn arrived and the birds' noise brought him to life. He groaned awake before using his massive trunk to scatter the sand on his body.

Then, he used it to stabilize himself by using it as an anchor to stand to help himself stand up.

Two hours passed and Mammot was finally back on his feet, his imprint left behind on the sand below.

He stared ahead across the sea, his jaws splitting wide open unable to contain his yawn.

His eyes closed once again, recalling the past as Taurus stood before him with the Golden Mane in his hand as a brush…

A few moments later, Mammot opened his eyes before stepping forward as he dipped into the cold water, intending to cross the sea faster than they did the last time.

He believed he could do it in three days at most, back then it took them ten days but that was far past his prime.

The water carried his body as he used his limbs to swim for three days until his eyes spotted the shore, encouraging him to continue.

On the fourth day, he arrived and decided to rest before continuing.

He did the same steps as before, destroying the terrain around him again before drifting asleep.

Time passed and he eventually woke up the following day before recalling more of Taurus' instructions, as his eyes looked toward the forest ahead of him.

That place was called the Enchanted Forest and was dead back then. It was the best route to Tyran, but Taurus warned him against crossing it to avoid dealing with the elves living there.

He nodded his head before following the instructions and moving toward the southeast, circling the forest through the foot of the mountain.

Unfortunately, his fears happened and eventually, the elves found him a few days later due to the noise and rumble his movement created.

"Step aside, elf." Mammot eyed the elf's commander before muttering his words and pausing for a moment.

Their expressions shifted at his words, and they froze in his path as he considered stomping them and moving on to save time.

"Move aside!!!" The commander shouted as they pushed their mounts forward, opening the way for him. It was a surprise for him since he never interacted with elves before.

What he saw was complete respect, something contrary to the greed he saw rarely from humans, monsters, and the various races.

"I hope your race is as nice as you," He eventually stopped thinking about it before responding, his trunk raised across the sky for a moment before continuing on his way.

Mammot continued his journey, arriving at the river separating the Enchanted Forest and Monster Empire.

While it could be considered wide, it was nothing compared to the sea filled with predators that he crossed.

For a titan like him, he crossed it in under a few minutes without any issues before diverging his path to the west.

Mammot spent the rest of the month walking before coming across the barren land, coming across the armies stationed across the place.

"Haaaaaaalt Beast, you shall not pass without permission!!!" A monster stepped forward as Mammot approached the monster army from the back, their commanders striking the ground with his staff as he shouted in a cocky tone.

Mammot paused, considering whether to respond in kind or erase them for their leader's disrespect. He thought for a few moments before making up his mind.

"Move, monster!" Mammot shouted before raising his feet and striking the ground.

The ground shook as the earthquake sped through the battlefield, the temporary tents collapsing as the soldiers scrambled to sides while he moved forward.

Their leader remained shut before breathing heavily as the beast made its way toward the human army.

'Holy hell!' He thought about what could happen if the beast took any further action, their race didn't treat beasts as anything more than war tools.

It made him realize how much of a threat, and pushed his views a little to the side.

He pushed his thoughts aside and stared at the beast heading toward their enemy, wondering what was on its mind.

The human commander acted according to their notes and stepped forward, greeting Mammot with their back bent forward.

"This humble one greets the esteemed titan!" A soft yet loud voice echoed through the battlefield, hinting the speaker was a female.

Mammot stared at her for a moment and instead of asking, he chose to gauge her information.

"Huh?" She muttered upon witnessing the prompt appearing before her face, and although she knew beasts could awaken, she never one that could speak.

She began shaking from the excitement before making up her mind to reveal her status to him.

[Name: Rose Silverblade]

[Evaluation: 19 Stars]

[Level: 47 | Exp: 2,640/9,400]

Mammot stared at her information before offering to guide him to Tyran. Her level was average and so was her evaluation, hinting she was in her early twenties.

But that was exactly the reason he chose her, since he didn't plan on sticking to his words at all.

Unfortunately, she refused since she couldn't leave without higher permission and insisted until he made her an offer she found hard to refuse.

He debated internally as if expecting such a thing to happen. Beasts had no control over their stats and so did he, but he knew others gained five attribute points every level.

"Are you certain? Imagine commanding a beast like me." Guessing she had decent privileges as a leader, Mammot began enticing her with an offer she could hardly refuse.

At her current level, he believed she couldn't make her way up to his back unless she had a skill or trait that allowed her to fly.

The chance of her being one of those fools who pushed most of their stats into strength also crossed his mind. But who was stupid enough to do such a thing?

She thought patiently for a while and she eventually took his bait, despite knowing very well she would suffer a punishment later.

She had a simple excuse in mind, helping the beast through safe routes so it wouldn't destroy things in its path.

"Help yourself then," Mammot responded to her agreement, by beckoning her to ride. But then she lifted her head, looking up while wondering how to such a thing.

She shook her head in denial and proceeded to ask him for assistance. The beast was six meters tall, twice the height of an average building in Tyran. A gap she couldn't bridge even if she was level 100.

"What's taking your time?" Mammot acted oblivious and proceeded to question her right away.

"Can you help me a little? I can't make it up there on my own..." She responded awkwardly.

"I only offered to allow you, not assist you."

"This problem is yours alone, lady." He responded in succession before diverting his path as if losing all of his interest in her.

"Wait!" She panicked and shouted immediately, fearing what could happen if such beast was left on its own. Not all of Tyran's cities were suitable, only the capital and a few large ones would designed to allow such behemoths inside.

"Please let me guide you through a safe route at least!" She shouted once again before gritting her teeth while waiting for his answer.

Having gotten what he wanted, Mammot smiled before giving her his approval.

Rose jumped in happiness before making her leave known to her underlings and then she began guiding on the path.
