It came in a bundle with the Terraforming Tool set, a red beam that can reshape terrain, through taking away Material and saving it in the Mined Resources Inventory, Or placing them down again, maybe in a different place if you want to.
With what he could find out on the roof, he knew that the laser was not the quickest when it came to Metal but still quick, just not as quick as witch other stuff, like Stone bricks and dirt from flower pods which would be sucked up in seconds.
"Wow, I have to try out this thing immediately" he thought and made his way out of the main city, back to his training ground, to test the Functions for real this time and maybe build his first outpost.
Peter reached his last training grounds while landing on a roof, overlooking the area, searching for any potential threat but finding non after some searching.
"It's so quiet" he thought, the surrounding silence unnerving.
"This is a nice spot" he thought, and then took the habitat builder from his inventory, feeling it in his hand, getting a good grip, still in awe of this piece of work as a wonder of technology, and turned the hologram on.
"Now, let's see how the building works," He thought, opened the menu and scrolled through the preinstalled blueprints, getting distracted quite sometimes by buildings and vehicles he would need some time until he gets his hands on them.
There were a lot of things he needed first, for his starter Base, a source of energy to refill the Habitat builder, a stable income of recourses and a good way to transform them into money so he can buy stuff like hard to get minerals that he deeds for his first step of independence, a mining drone.
He went around the roof, looking around and then opened the menu again, turning on the Scan mode and started to scan the area.
"That's not bad, Not bad at all, I think at least" he thought, seeing how the area was scanned in seconds, the 3d model appearing next to him, his mind quickly taking the whole thing and calculating the costs.
"So, this abandoned building is worth around 10,000 units of stone and 4,000 units of metal, well, let's find out what one unit means through deconstruct some stuff." He thought while activating the scan mode and scanning the Metal pipe laying on the ground.
The hologram showed two options on the screen as the scan was completed, Catalogize and deconstruct. Peter touched deconstruct and the same scanning animation was played again as the laser went up and down the pipe, just that now the laser was red and that whatever was touched by the laser, transformed into white light particles and went into a hole in the Habitat Builder.
After about one and a half seconds, the Metal pipe, with a diameter of about Peter's arms lengths, was gone, and the Inventory showed the following.
Metal Units: 154
"So as this Pipe said on its surface it were 154kg, 1 Unit of Metal is 1 kg, not bad" He thought and then activated the option Catalogize, where the laser just scanned the object and the only showed deconstruct the second time the scanner was pointed at the object.
"So, the Catalogize just keeps the data in the memory, for later use. Nice" He said and continued the search.
After he activated scanning a second tie on the building, though, the 3d model became more and more detailed and started coloring some objects in different from blue.
The walls were green and the pipes were blue.
"That's nice, maybe it also detects different kinds of materials and shows them through colors" he thought as he saw how the blue color was everywhere, except for a few areas in the center, where the green was a lot.
"Ok, that's a nice start" he thought and jumped down from the roof, his mind set on his next course of action.
He went to the places in green and deconstructed all the Metal he could find.
Then he went outside and searched the preinstalled Blueprints for a little underground Base he could build as his first outpost. There was one called 'Underground Shelter'
The shelter was designed to serve as a temporary shelter for people caught in adverse environmental conditions. It contains a one Room with a everything you needed in one room philosophe. There was a toilet, a small shower, a cooking stove, a little kitchen, a desk with a hologram projector and a bed.
"Nice" Peter said as the 3d Model showed up, the building looking like a little bunker, the entrance hidden as a Rock, that flips up like a hatch.
"That would be a nice little first Base" he said, but then his mind started to work again, thinking about his next step and the many things he wanted.
But then he looked at the Energy Reserves, which were already at 99%, and he got his priorities straight again.
"First I need a energy source" He thought and started looking again.
The Preinstalled Blueprints showed him a lot of interesting things, a lot of reactors, but they mostly needed constant surveillance and were to big for one person to run.
The only thing he found that he could build with only 99% energy reserves and was manageable by one person that would not be able to be always there to surveil it, was a reactor that ran on Thorium.
That one would cost Peter quite some energy to build, but he could do it and also build his little shelter, before running out of energy.
He quickly made a plan in his head, how to get everything and where to place it, and then started deconstructing the whole surrounding buildings, until the energy was below 90%.
"Well, this looks strange" He said as the last bit of metal and stone were absorbed by the Habitat builder, and he had a lot of weird looking ruins in his surroundings.
