Chapter 6 - Blood Transfusion

"Really, why surround the island with magma? Is there an enemy on the island?"

The crimson magma walls melted away, revealing a wide opening.

Hibari, flanked by vigilant Navy soldiers, stepped onto Red Leaf Island.

Though initially critical of Akainu's magma barrier, Hibari fell silent upon seeing the vast expanse of smoldering ashes and scattered corpses, freezing in place.

"Didn't I tell you to stay in the cabin and rest?"

Akainu stood up from his crouched position.

The experienced and knowledgeable soldiers behind him quickly grasped the situation upon seeing the island's gruesome scene.

Without needing Akainu's orders, commanders began assigning tasks, dispatching soldiers throughout Red Leaf Village for rescue operations, firefighting, and capturing any survivors.

However, young Hibari, witnessing such a massacre for the first time, stood in shock for several seconds, her face pale, before covering her mouth and retching.

As she stepped aside to vomit, Akainu raised his right hand, seemingly wanting to stop her but ultimately lowering it.

Because he had already heard his daughter's scream.

"Ah!"

Hibari, bending down, saw a man kneeling on the ground with a face mangled beyond recognition.

His features were a bloody mess; the spots where his eyes should have been were just deep, blood-filled hollows.

His nose had collapsed, forming a clear indentation.

His shattered mouth hung open, the jaw slacks without the support of the chewing muscles.

Most terrifying of all, the top of his skull was missing, exposing a brain with red and white grooves, resembling an oversized walnut, right in front of Hibari's eyes.

Hibari's eyes widened in horror.

"Sigh, this is what happens when you don't listen to your father." Akainu sighed, then forced a smile to ease the tension, trying to comfort his eleven-year-old daughter, who was in the midst of vomiting. "It's okay, Hibari. You'll get used to it next time."

"Ugh…"

"Medic! Check on this kid and see if he can be saved."

Akainu called to a Navy doctor carrying a medical kit nearby.

The ship's doctor quickly and carefully examined the unconscious Rosha.

"His heart rate is very low but strong. He's lost a lot of blood and needs an immediate transfusion. Damn, so many wounds, and he's still holding on—it's a miracle."

As the doctor cut away Rosha's coarse clothes with scissors, even his experienced eyes widened in shock at the sight of Rosha's injuries.

Rosha's tall, bare body was covered in terrifying scars and wounds.

Sharp weapons slashed his hands and legs, and his chest and abdomen bore two massive gashes, crossing to form an X-shaped scar.

The scars were so deep that the ribs were visible, and through the gaps, one could see his red, pulsing internal organs.

Had those intersecting wounds been any lower, without the protection of his rib cage, Rosha's intestines would likely have been severed.

The doctor counted at least thirty-one slashes on Rosha's body.

The blood flowing from his wounds had dyed him a dark red.

Congealed blood glued his clothes to his wounds, and as the doctor carefully peeled away the bloodied fabric, the wounds reopened.

Fresh blood gushed out uncontrollably.

"We can't do this! There aren't enough supplies and bandages in the medical kit. He needs surgery to clean the wounds and prevent infection, and we must transfuse blood immediately! His physiology is unusual; his blood flow rate is alarming. He has an exceptionally strong heart. Regular bandages won't suffice; we need to suture his wounds. Admiral Sakazuki, we need to get him to the ship for treatment right away."

"I understand."

Akainu replied gravely.

To the doctor's surprise, Akainu bent down and lifted the unconscious Rosha effortlessly.

With a powerful leap, he soared tens of meters, his white "Justice" cloak billowing behind him like a giant bird.

In an instant, he crossed over a hundred meters, landing on the deck of the battleship with a thud.

"What are you waiting for? Get over here!"

"Yes, sir!"

The doctor, skilled in combat techniques, picked up his medical kit and glanced at the retching Hibari.

Hesitating for a moment, he grabbed her arm and leaped into the air.

Boom! Boom, boom!

The doctor stomped on the air, creating sonic booms, and landed on the battleship.

He set Hibari down and dashed into the cabin.

Soon, the sound of rummaging echoed from within.

Moments later, the doctor emerged with an armful of medical tools, dropping a few items on the deck, and causing Akainu to frown.

"First, we need to start the blood transfusion, then proceed with the surgery. Let me check his blood type."

The doctor took some blood from Rosha's wound and fiddled with some devices Akainu didn't recognize.

"He's F-type blood. Admiral Sakazuki, please call for any F-type blood soldiers and officers. We'll need several; this guy needs a lot of blood."

"F-type?" Akainu raised an eyebrow, then unbuttoned his jacket, pulling out his right arm, and presented it to the doctor. "No need. Use my blood. I'm also F-type."

"Okay."

Unsurprised, the doctor took the infusion needle and aimed it at the blood vessel in Akainu's arm.

Ping!

The needle snapped.

"Admiral, please retract your Haki. I can't pierce your skin like this." The doctor's mouth twitched.

"Ahem! Just a reflex."

Akainu coughed, signaling the doctor to try again.

This time, the needle didn't break and smoothly entered Akainu's vein.

Crimson blood flowed through the tube, connecting to Rosha's arm.

The doctor then smiled, causing Akainu to frown deeply.

He rubbed his hands excitedly, chuckling as he raised a scalpel over the unconscious Rosha.

"Hehe, I think this will be an interesting surgery."
