Capítulo 5: Chapter 5: Secrets to Passing Exams

"Teacher Hanyu, please, I beg you, don't tell Teacher Ikegai!" Obito continued pleading desperately with Hanyu.

"That depends on your performance," Hanyu replied with a smile, not giving a definitive answer.

"Teacher, is there something you need from me?" Guy scratched his head, puzzled as to why he was called out since he hadn't done anything wrong.

Hanyu looked at Guy. This boy, who would one day be hailed as the strongest Taijutsu user by Madara and almost end the war with a single kick, was still so immature.

Although he already wore that iconic green jumpsuit, he lacked not only strength but also the steadfast belief and self-discipline his father had taught him about youth. He had a long way to go, and Hanyu was more than willing to lend him a hand.

"Your theoretical scores have been troubling Teacher Ikegai a lot," Hanyu began.

Hearing this, even the carefree Obito lowered his head in embarrassment.

"It's not that I don't want to study; it's just that the questions are too hard to understand! Why do they lock animals together and ask us to calculate how many there are?" Obito attempted to defend himself.

Hearing Obito's reasoning, Hanyu was reminded of his own struggles with math back in high school. Thankfully, his college major spared him from advanced calculus.

However, Hanyu understood the real issue lay with Obito. The math taught at the Ninja Academy was the most basic kind, far simpler than history lessons, which were more comprehensive and numerous.

"But Obito, it's not just math you're bad at. Your history and ninjutsu theory are equally terrible," Hanyu pointed out.

"What's the point of learning history anyway? It's all in the past," Obito grumbled, convinced that history should be removed from the curriculum. Math, at least, had practical uses like grocery shopping, but history? No way.

"I feel the same way," Guy chimed in, nodding earnestly. Memorizing all those historical events was a nightmare.

"You'll have to bring that up with Lord Third, as he's the principal of the Ninja Academy," Hanyu quipped, signaling it wasn't his decision.

"But continuing like this isn't ideal. It's not just unfair to Teacher Ikegai; it also reflects poorly on you two."

"Do you have any secrets to passing exams, Teacher Hanyu?" Obito looked at him with hopeful eyes.

Guy, too, was visibly excited. Nobody wanted to be at the bottom if they could help it.

"I do have a secret for exams: practice questions—lots of them. Study while you practice!" Hanyu revealed his tried-and-true strategy.

Given the Ninja Academy's difficulty level, Hanyu's experience from his past life with rigorous exam preparations made this advice a game-changer. At the Academy, you only needed half the class's average score to pass.

"Practice questions?" Both boys looked puzzled, not entirely understanding.

"You can think of it as a special training session for passing exams. And if you manage to pass the next one, there will be a reward," Hanyu said, smiling.

"A reward? Is it dango?" Obito asked eagerly.

"I'll teach you a ninjutsu or taijutsu. Essentially, I'll guide your training," Hanyu clarified.

"Really?!" Both boys' eyes widened in disbelief at such an amazing opportunity.

"Only if you pass the exam in a month," Hanyu reminded them.

"Is this what they call youth? I'm fired up!" Guy exclaimed, his enthusiasm bubbling over.

"This time, I'll definitely pass!" Obito declared with confidence.

Seeing the two so motivated, Hanyu nodded silently. A skilled hunter often takes the guise of prey.

Obito and Guy believed they'd struck gold, getting both a secret to passing and the promise of training rewards.

Hanyu, however, had a different perspective. During their "special training," he'd have ample opportunity to position himself as their mentor, naturally guiding them toward formal apprenticeship.

Even if they didn't pass, he could still encourage them by saying, "Seeing how hard you tried, I can't help but reward you." He might even gain more of their trust in the process.

Unlike Shisui, Hanyu didn't immediately take them as disciples. The timing and background didn't align well for invoking a favor owed, and he wasn't their homeroom teacher, which limited long-term interaction.

After finalizing the special training plan, Hanyu returned to the classroom with Obito and Guy.

"Obito, what did Teacher Hanyu want to talk to you about? Did he punish you?" Rin asked worriedly.

"Punish me? No way! Teacher Hanyu is the best! He even taught me a secret to passing the exam," Obito eagerly clarified, defending Hanyu's reputation.

As long as Hanyu helped him shed his "last place" title, Obito was ready to become his number one fan.

"Rin, you better start studying harder. Don't let me surpass you in the next exam," Obito teased with a laugh.

"I'd be happy if you could really do that," Rin replied, smiling wryly. While she wasn't at the top of her class, her grades were consistently good.

Once the lesson bell rang, Obito adopted an unusually serious attitude. This time, he was determined to pass and was already planning what ninjutsu he'd ask to learn.

Rin was surprised to see this side of him. Could it be that Obito was finally serious?

Three minutes later, she watched Obito slump over his desk and sighed. Ah, he's still the same old Obito.

Just then, a piece of chalk arced through the air and struck Obito square on the head.

Looking around in confusion, Obito caught sight of Hanyu's stern expression, Rin's stifled laughter, and Guy's furious note-taking. Remembering his bold declarations from just moments ago, Obito's face turned red, and his drowsiness vanished.

After this little interruption, the rest of the lesson proceeded smoothly.

[Lesson Complete]

[Evaluation: A]

[Reward: Leaf Whirlwind]

This time, the reward wasn't a ninjutsu but a taijutsu technique, one that Guy would later develop into a signature move.

Although the Leaf Whirlwind appeared simple, merely a kick, Hanyu quickly realized its complexities. Executing it correctly required precise posture, muscle coordination, and chakra manipulation.

This reward was especially valuable, as Hanyu now had something effective to teach Guy during their training sessions.

After school, Hanyu wandered through a forest in the southern part of Konoha, searching for a suitable training spot.

Due to his affiliation with Root, his residence was likely monitored by Danzo. Given Danzo's disdain for the Uchiha, finding out Hanyu was secretly training Shisui could lead to dangerous accusations of treason.

Although Hanyu had sensory ninjutsu to detect threats, it wasn't practical to keep it active constantly, as it consumed too much chakra.

Eventually, Hanyu came across a small riverside clearing. The secluded and serene environment was perfect for training.

Marking the spot in his memory, Hanyu returned home, where an unwelcome surprise awaited him.

The moment he stepped into his courtyard, he noticed a ninja wearing an animal mask standing silently within.

Capítulo 6: Chapter 6: Danzo's Obsession

"Yoru, this is the latest directive from Lord Danzo." A Root operative handed a scroll to Mikazuki.

Mikazuki nodded and accepted the scroll. Yoru was his codename within the Root.

The two exchanged no further words. The Root operative swiftly vanished after delivering the scroll, ensuring minimal interaction. Mikazuki was essentially a covert agent for the Root, and unnecessary contact risked exposure to the Anbu.

Before the operative disappeared completely, Mikazuki appraised him.

Name: Taira MizuiroPotential: BChakra: 7000Assessment: A skilled Jonin.

Seeing Taira Mizuiro's substantial chakra reserves, Mikazuki couldn't help but feel envious. He didn't even have 5000 chakra—essentially five six-year-old Shisuis short of comparison.

Once he could no longer sense the operative through his sensory jutsu, Mikazuki stepped into his home and unrolled the scroll to read Danzo's latest command.

"The Uchiha clan's Shisui in your class is a notable prodigy. Monitor his actions, assess his personality, and evaluate him."

Mikazuki sighed as he read the instructions. Danzo's paranoia regarding the Uchiha bordered on pathological.

Shisui was only six years old—just a child who had recently enrolled in the ninja academy.

Yet, merely because of his budding reputation as a genius within his clan, Danzo already deemed him worthy of surveillance and assessment.

It wasn't hard to guess Danzo's deeper intent—he likely wanted to recruit Shisui into the Root. However, Mikazuki didn't think such ambitions would succeed. The Third Hokage would never allow it.

While the Third tolerated the Root's existence, he would never let it grow too powerful. A genius Uchiha's potential was far too high; who could predict what heights they might reach?

The Third would either keep Shisui firmly within the Uchiha clan or recruit him into the Anbu.

After reading, Mikazuki burned the scroll using a Fire Release technique.

The order itself was within Mikazuki's acceptable range. In fact, even without Danzo's explicit directive, Mikazuki would have reported Shisui's talent.

He understood that attempting to hide such information was pointless. Danzo's obsessive scrutiny of the Uchiha ensured it would surface anyway, and withholding it would only invite trouble onto himself.

Mikazuki created a shadow clone. While the clone practiced ninjutsu, the original began training to enhance his chakra reserves.

Currently, his chakra capacity was his greatest shortcoming. No matter how many jutsu he learned or how skilled he became, without sufficient chakra, their effectiveness would be severely limited.

Ninjas with limited chakra could only be so strong. Meanwhile, those with high chakra reserves could maintain a certain level of competence no matter their skill level. In many ways, chakra determined a ninja's potential ceiling and floor.

The Next Morning

Since Mikazuki had no classes to teach that morning, he used the time to visit the academy's archive.

He began sorting through the past few years of fourth-grade exam papers. The process went smoothly, so he also retrieved some first-grade exam papers while he was at it.

Although Mikazuki's primary goal was recruiting disciples, he genuinely intended to improve the theoretical grades of Might Guy and Obito.

After studying the exams, Mikazuki noticed that the questions barely changed from year to year. Most were of the same type—merely rephrased or altered with different numbers. Some years even repeated identical questions.

This realization reassured Mikazuki. He was now confident that the two boys could achieve passing scores.

"Forget intensive practice," he thought. "Just having them do the past two years' exams might be enough to pass."

With a few exam papers in hand, Mikazuki left the archive and headed to the teachers' office.

"Yesterday, she listened to everything I said. She's clearly interested in me!"

"Or—hear me out—she just didn't want to talk to you."

"She even suggested we split the bill when paying. That's her showing concern for me!"

"Or maybe she just didn't want you using 'one person treats per meeting' as an excuse to arrange another date."

As Mikazuki entered, he saw Ueda Aya teasing Ikutani Isamu.

Mikazuki glanced toward Kimura Sugihito, who was enjoying the show from the sidelines.

"Isamu went on a matchmaking date yesterday," Kimura explained. "Now he's describing how it went and asking for advice on wooing the woman. Ueda, however, thinks the woman isn't interested and is urging him to move on."

"Ah, I see." Mikazuki nodded in understanding.

"You're just in time, Mikazuki-sensei!" Isamu turned to him. "Do you have any special tips for winning a woman's heart?"

He seemed to assume Mikazuki—who had an attractive appearance—was an expert in romantic matters.

"Special tips?" Mikazuki considered for a moment. "I think if you show her genuine sincerity, that should work."

Whether or not he actually had tips was irrelevant. Even if he did, Mikazuki wouldn't share them—doing so wouldn't align with the image he wanted to portray.

"Sincerity, huh…" Isamu furrowed his brows, looking troubled. How could he ensure she felt his sincerity?

"Give it up, Isamu. Look at Mikazuki-sensei's face. Even if his advice is good, it might not work for someone like you," Ueda interjected.

"Hey! I admit Mikazuki-sensei is a little more handsome than me, but not that much, okay?" Isamu retorted, indignant.

"Right. Sure. Keep telling yourself that," Ueda replied, exasperated by his stubbornness.

"Good luck," Mikazuki said with a polite smile. What else could he say? If even Ueda—a friend—couldn't dissuade him, Mikazuki wouldn't try.

Privately, Mikazuki hoped Isamu would stay busy. The busier he was, the more opportunities Mikazuki might have to substitute for his class.

"See? Mikazuki-sensei believes in me. Just watch, Ueda—I'll make her mine!" Isamu declared, reinvigorated.

That Afternoon

While teaching, Mikazuki experimented with lowering the quality of his lecture slightly.

He theorized that the system's teaching evaluations were divided into two parts: content quality and student satisfaction.

He wanted to test this hypothesis and aim for a B-grade evaluation. After all, his first A-grade evaluation had come with a bonus reward. If the pattern held, the first B-grade evaluation might also grant an extra reward.

[Lecture Complete. Calculating Results…]

Evaluation: BReward: Chakra +20

Bonus for First B-Grade Evaluation Achieved: Mastery of Chakra Shape Transformation.

Mikazuki's mind was instantly flooded with knowledge and memories of practicing chakra shape transformation.

He was pleasantly surprised. Shape transformation was on par with nature transformation in the chakra system, and both significantly enhanced ninjutsu.

Although his mastery level wasn't perfect, shape transformation wasn't limited by chakra nature, making it universally applicable.

Speaking of shape transformation, the Rasengan immediately came to mind. As a quintessential example of this technique, it didn't even require nature transformation yet still packed immense power.

"I can start working on developing the Rasengan," Mikazuki decided. With the detailed training process outlined in the original series and his newfound knowledge, it shouldn't be too difficult.

The B-grade reward also made Mikazuki reconsider his approach to teaching. While A-grades were preferable, B-grades could add up over time.

Now, his schedule was packed: teaching during the day, training Shisui in the evenings, personal training and jutsu development at night, and weekend tutoring for Might Guy and Obito.

Mikazuki relished the fullness of his life and hoped for a few peaceful years to grow steadily stronger.

Unfortunately, he hadn't been reincarnated into a peaceful era.

On the fourth day after his arrival in the ninja world, bad news arrived from the front lines.
