The caller ID read "Wife," and Vera was startled, nearly jumping up like a thief caught in the act.

Ryan wrapped an arm around her waist and nonchalantly answered the call. "Honey, what's up?"

"Honey, there's a power outage tonight. Should we get some candles?"

Hearing her second sister's voice, Vera expression changed. She looked panicked, almost as though caught in the act of cheating. Ryan enjoyed seeing her emotional swings, so he turned and kissed her softly, though not deeply or passionately.

Vera, visibly frightened, pressed her lips together tightly, her big, watery eyes pleading silently.

Ryan, seeing her reaction, refrained from going further and instead lightly licked her lips. In a soft voice, he said, "No need, honey. It's just a power outage for one night. I told you earlier we're going to Ocean World, didn't I?"

"Ah, are you serious?"
