Capítulo 18: Chapter 18: U.A.

"I look like an idiot," Toji muttered in front of the mirror, adjusting the UA uniform. The fabric was flawless, but he couldn't help feeling strange.

"A very handsome idiot," his mother corrected him with a warm smile. Tears welled up in her eyes as she continued, "To think I'd see you in Japan's best high school..."

"Come on, don't start," Toji grumbled, trying to avoid the discomfort those emotional displays caused him. The sound of his phone interrupted the scene. He checked the screen and said, "Oh, it's Momo. She's at the entrance." Before leaving, he grabbed the bracelet she had given him.

"Take care... and don't get expelled on your first day," his mother said with both concern and tenderness. Toji only grunted in response, as was his habit. He left the apartment, finding Momo waiting in a car. When she saw him, she got out to greet him and hugged him enthusiastically.

"We'll be studying together for three more years! Isn't that a relief?" Momo radiated excitement, but Toji only nodded slightly. They both got in, and he stared out the window, ignoring the stern gaze of a mustached man.

During the ride, Momo chatted animatedly, full of ideas and expectations about the new school year, while Toji maintained a stubborn silence.

"We got into Class 1-A. Thankfully, we'll not only be in the same building but also in the same classroom," Momo said with relief.

Toji rolled his eyes. "Sometimes I think you're obsessed with me," he remarked teasingly.

Momo blushed and lightly hit his arm. "Come on! You know what I mean," she replied, slightly offended.

"Sure, sure. Let's go before we're late," he said with an amused smile. But his words didn't calm Momo, who, pouting, decided to ignore him for the rest of the ride.

"You're exasperating, you know that?" Toji said, tired of her attitude.

"And you're...!" Momo started yelling but was interrupted by him.

"We're here," Toji pointed out, cutting off any further complaints. Momo puffed her cheeks in frustration but said nothing else as they both entered the campus.

They got out of the luxurious car, attracting multiple stares from other students. Toji seemed unbothered, completely ignoring them. For Momo, however, it was an uncomfortable experience. Although many at her previous school arrived similarly, the curious gazes still made her nervous.

"W-wait for me," Momo said hurriedly, trying to catch up with Toji, who was already heading toward the building without waiting for her. They walked through the halls until they finally found the door to Classroom 1-A.

Momo struggled to open the door, trying to maintain a calm and composed expression. But all her effort was in vain, as Toji pushed the door open without a care and entered as if nothing had happened. She sighed, resigned, and followed him inside.

The room was still almost empty; there was some time before class started. She watched as Toji, without much thought, chose a seat at the back, just as he always had in their old school. With a smile, she sat beside him and watched as he leaned on his arms, preparing for an inevitable nap.

"There he is," Momo thought, inhaling deeply to mentally prepare for the next three years. But her tranquility didn't last long. Suddenly, the door was thrown open forcefully, causing everyone present to turn toward the newcomer. It was a boy with ash-blond hair and a defiant expression.

"Out of my way!" he shouted, intimidating the students in his path. They nervously stepped aside without protest. Momo frowned as she watched him. "The typical bully," she thought, though a small smile formed on her lips as she imagined the scene. "He won't last long with Toji if he keeps that attitude."

The boy went straight to a seat on the other side of the classroom and, without any shame, put his feet up on the desk. Momo was about to say something, but someone beat her to it.

"Don't put your feet on the desk! Isn't that disrespectful to the people who made it?"

Momo blinked, surprised. She hadn't expected such a direct and formal reaction. She had planned to calmly warn the boy, and if things escalated, simply write a report. But, after all, this intervention would do.

"Huh? Like I care! What school are you from, you wannabe extra?" the blond retorted with a mocking sneer.

"I'm from Soumei Private School. My name is Iida Tenya," the other boy replied firmly and politely.

Momo sighed. Everything seemed to be escalating too quickly. But before she could step in, she heard a low growl from her friend. Alarmed, she watched as Toji slowly stood up.

"Toji-kun..." she murmured, knowing he was about to get involved. Without wasting time, he positioned himself behind the boy lecturing the rude one.

"Can you shut up? It's been less than five minutes, and you're already giving me a headache," he said in his characteristic grumpy tone.

Both boys turned to him, surprised. Iida studied him closely, as if recognizing him from somewhere. After a few seconds, his expression changed, and somewhat embarrassed, he bowed.

"Sorry for disrupting the peace of the classroom... Fushiguro Toji, right? I think we've started off on the wrong foot. Allow me to introduce myself properly. I'm Iida Tenya, and I hope we can get along." He extended a hand toward him, trying to make amends.

Toji looked at him skeptically, frowning. "Do I know you?" he asked, ignoring the gesture of courtesy entirely.

Iida froze for a moment, as if unable to process what he'd just heard. "I... We met during the entrance exam. We were even in the practical test together," he explained, visibly nervous.

Toji's expression remained entirely confused. "I'm... the one you lectured," Iida added with more detail, hoping that would be enough to jog his memory.

Suddenly, Toji's eyes lit up. "Oh, yeah... the idiot," he said, pointing at him with a mocking smile.

Iida flinched at the nickname, entirely out of place for his impeccable demeanor. His face reflected his embarrassment. Before Iida could say anything, a feminine voice rang out from the classroom door.

"Ah! You're the normal-looking guy!" she exclaimed enthusiastically.

Everyone turned their heads toward the entrance. There stood a girl with brown hair tied into two pigtails, addressing a green-haired boy who seemed to be listening to the conversation. However, she quickly noticed Toji, and her expression brightened even more.

"Ah! You too, Fushiguro-san!" she said as she walked forward, passing the green-haired boy to stand right in front of him.

Toji raised an eyebrow, clearly confused. "Ah... you?"

The girl, who turned out to be Ochako Uraraka, blinked in surprise. "You forgot about me?"

Toji scratched his head in a carefree manner. "I'm not good at remembering other people's names."

At that, she laughed nervously. "Uraraka Ochako. Please remember it," she said with a friendly smile.

From the other side of the classroom, Momo's eyes widened. "How...? Since when did Toji start a friendship with another girl?" she thought incredulously. "He rarely shows interest in forming friendships with others..." As she reflected, her eyes fixed intensely on the two of them.

Toji felt a shiver and briefly glanced over his shoulder, as if sensing something strange. He saw nothing but still couldn't shake the discomfort.

"Looks like Present Mic wasn't lying! In the end, it actually happened," Uraraka commented, looking at the green-haired boy still standing by the door, watching timidly.

The mentioned boy, realizing the attention was on him, blushed. "A-ah... yes. You two were the ones who saved me and tried to help me. I'm very grateful," he said, bowing as he recalled the video UA had sent him, where the two of them had tried to intervene for him.

Toji, utterly disinterested, replied indifferently, "I didn't want to."

Uraraka rolled her eyes at his attitude. "Oh, right. Today's the entrance ceremony or orientation day. How exciting! Who do you think the teacher will be? What do you think, Fushiguro-san?" she asked, bouncing slightly with excitement.

"Whoever passes me," Toji replied, bored, as he yawned.

Uraraka laughed nervously, still not used to his demeanor.

Suddenly, a raspy voice interrupted them. "If you're here to make friends, I suggest you leave."

Everyone turned toward the source of the sound and saw, to their surprise, what looked like a caterpillar curled up on the ground. The figure, wrapped in what seemed to be a sleeping bag, shifted slightly before speaking again.

"Hmm... just over 8 seconds to react," it said while slowly emerging from its refuge. "Life's too short to waste it like this... I'm your homeroom teacher, Aizawa Shouta. Nice to meet you."

The classroom fell into complete silence. Toji, unfazed, simply yawned again, prompting Momo to glare daggers at him.

"Now put these on and head to the training field," the man added, pulling several gym uniforms out of his bag.

"Seriously? Now?" Toji thought, already tired of everything before even starting.
