Chapter 58: Not a Drop Left...
[Pokémon: Jynx]
Ability: Oblivious
Gender: Female
Potential: Gym-level
Level: 32
Moves: Pound, Lick, Powder Snow, Sweet Kiss, Confusion, Ice Punch, Psychic, Sing, Double Slap...
A level 32 Jynx, possessing both Ice and Psychic attributes, stood before them, exuding an air of hostility.
Hikaru's excitement surged. This was a perfect opportunity—Kirlia lacked experience battling strong Psychic-type opponents. Without hesitation, he summoned Kirlia.
"Kirlia~" (Hikaru! Let's go~)
The newly-released Kirlia immediately nuzzled Hikaru affectionately before turning its attention to the opponent: Jynx.
"Jynx!" (It was that Charmeleon who scared me earlier!)
Jynx hesitated. The energy radiating from the towering Charmeleon still lingered vividly in her memory. However, the trainer now released another humanoid Pokémon, floating gracefully in the air, and this one didn't seem any easier to deal with.
"Don't worry, Jynx. It'll be a one-on-one battle," Hikaru reassured her. "If Kirlia don't wins, Charmeleon will apologize to your Smoochum."
"Jynx?" (Really?)
"If I go back on my word, you're free to chase me out of this domain," Hikaru added with a smile.
Jynx perked up. This was her chance to salvage her dignity in front of Smoochum. "Jynx, Jynx!" (Let's do it!)
"Alright, Kirlia, let's show them what we've got!"
"Kirlia~" (Ready when you are!)
Kirlia floated into the air, eyes lighting up with determination. Jynx took the initiative, blowing a frosty Powder Snow toward Kirlia.
"Evade it and use pure Psychic energy for a duel!" Hikaru commanded.
Kirlia obeyed instantly, soaring upward and dispersing the snow with a sharp wave of Psychic energy. The residual force of the move surged toward Jynx, who had no choice but to counter with her own Psychic attack.
The two forces collided in midair, sending shockwaves rippling across the battlefield. It became a contest of wills as both Pokémon pushed their Psychic energy to the limit.
Despite being three levels higher, Jynx quickly felt the strain. Wild Pokémon often lacked the energy reserves of well-cared-for trainer Pokémon. Sustaining high-energy moves drained her far more rapidly.
After a minute of intense struggle, Jynx began to falter. Her breaths came in short gasps, and her limbs trembled.
She glanced at Smoochum, who watched from the sidelines with awe-filled eyes. This moment was for her child. Gritting her teeth, Jynx dug deep to maintain her offensive.
But after another thirty seconds, she collapsed, entirely drained of energy.
"Jynx!" (I'm done. I have nothing left...)
Kirlia, hovering triumphantly above her, clicked her tongue in disappointment. "Kirlia~" (You gave up too soon! I wasn't finished yet!)
It was clear Kirlia had been on the verge of a breakthrough to Gym-level strength, but the battle had ended prematurely.
Hikaru approached Jynx and gently placed a box of Psychic-type energy cubes beside her. "Thanks for the battle. These are for you and your Smoochum."
Jynx looked up in shock as Hikaru and Yuki walked away. The energy cubes were of exceptional quality, potent enough to sustain her and Smoochum for a month.
"Not bad," she murmured. "That trainer has good manners."

Yuki was practically glowing with admiration as she followed Hikaru. Her sparkling eyes were filled with wonder, and she didn't bother hiding her curiosity.
"How do you do it, Hikaru? Battling so effortlessly and even talking to wild Pokémon!"
Hikaru scratched his head, slightly embarrassed. "It's my Aura abilities."
Throughout their ascent, Hikaru continued guiding Yuki and finding suitable Pokémon opponents for her Alolan Vulpix to battle. The wild Pokémon, ranging from early to mid-level Elite-tier, served as perfect training partners.
Weaker Pokémon, meanwhile, became practice for Riolu, who was steadily honing its skills. During breaks, Hikaru gathered Ice-type treasures and even crafted a batch of energy cubes for Vulpix. The delighted Pokémon couldn't stop wagging her fluffy tail.

At the Summit
A group of figures dressed in white cloaks and masks huddled around an icy cavern.
"It's here," their leader whispered, eyes burning with fervor. "The legendary Articuno!"
Within the cave, the icy walls sparkled like crystal, and at its center lay the massive, slumbering figure of Articuno. Even in its dormant state, the Legendary Bird exuded an overwhelming presence.
The group belonged to Team Aqua, a shadowy organization that revered Water and Ice-type Legendary Pokémon. Their mission was clear: capture Articuno.
To accomplish this, they had deployed a secret transportation device to penetrate the Frost Domain and brought along a newly-developed Master Ball.
The leader pointed to a Mightyena beside him. "Mightyena, carefully melt the surrounding ice with Flamethrower."
The Dark-type Pokémon stepped forward, unleashing a steady stream of flames onto the ice. But the frost, seemingly eternal, resisted even its scorching heat.
"Everyone, assist!" the leader barked.
Several other Mightyena joined in, combining their attacks. Slowly but surely, the unyielding ice began to melt away.
As the last layers dissolved, Articuno's majestic form came into view. Its massive wings, encased in frost, shimmered faintly in the dim light.
"It's ready!" the leader whispered, his voice trembling with anticipation.
This was it. His chance to rise within Team Aqua's ranks. Seizing Articuno would secure his place as one of the organization's elite.
Ignoring the growing unease among his subordinates, he approached Articuno with the Master Ball in hand. Trembling, he pressed it gently against the Legendary Pokémon's body.
Articuno disappeared in a flash of light, sucked into the Master Ball.
"It worked…" the leader whispered, his voice barely audible over the sound of his own heartbeat.
