Capítulo 16: Chapter 16: Whispers in the Dark

The guest quarters were quiet, too quiet for Aveline's liking. She looked around the room which had a heavy wooden door, and thick stone walls, it didn't have windows that opened fully, all this made her feel more like a prisoner than a guest because of the tightness of the room. She lay in the bed, staring up at the dark ceiling, her mind replaying every interaction she'd had since arriving in Gabriel's territory.

His pack was strange, their obedience disheartening. Even more unsettling was Gabriel himself. His mysterious warnings and the way his wolves watched her made her feelings fall between suspicion and curiosity.

The soft murmur of voices outside her window broke the silence of the night. Aveline's ears became alive from the murmurs. She slipped out of bed and walked silently to the window. The curtains barely opened, but she could make out two figures in the low moonlight: Gabriel and Cassian.
