Jack had had a very busy morning, there was a lot of movement among the Faceless Men and the tremor only left everything in complete chaos. The northern district itself was completely agitated, food and other travel supplies increased by another 20% after the tremor and tickets doubled in price. Early in the morning, he received a mission to help several slaves escape, helping them board a ship prepared by the organization. He only finished the mission when it was past noon, returned to one of his hideouts and saw a raven with a message from the Sleeping Dragon, he quickly accepted the letter and read it. His mouth was open and he still did not believe Rafael's words:
"Jack, have the Faceless Men gone mad? Do you think you are unbeatable and can declare war on all the wizards in the world from east to west? This time I suffered not only a loss equivalent to a dragon egg, but the destroyed item also had irreplaceable sentimental value, I will make the Faceless Men pay this amount 10 times more in the future." Leaving aside how certain Rafael was about his identity as a faceless man, he didn't understand why the faceless men caused trouble for Rafael, he had no ties to the 40 families. Furthermore, he mentioned that it was a declaration of war against the wizards of the whole world! The expression a dragon egg was money equivalent to an army, what did those fanatical idiots do? He barely got home and now he had to leave again, not to mention that he hadn't even had lunch yet and was hungry and quite tired after working all morning for the Order, this increased his anger even more, he then decided to go to the headquarters to find out what happened, as he walked there, he calmed down and began to think about how to use this situation to his advantage.
After using the code, he went to a room where there were two men sitting, one of them was the operations leader in the Valyrian freehold, he had the appearance of an old Valyrian man and his codename was Owl, the other in the room was his assistant, a young man also with Valyrian features. Jack didn't even say good afternoon before he started yelling at them asking what they did this morning!
"Jack, watch your tone of voice. We appreciate your talent, but we will not tolerate disrespect in the hierarchy. As for what we do, you don't need to know."
—Fucking disrespect, I received a very serious threat earlier today saying that we have declared war on mages from East to West. Do you know what that means? Because you attacked mages who do not belong to the 40 families?
The man who was the leader was speechless, while the other who was his assistant and had been watching everything since the beginning in fear was now open-mouthed and shaking a little.
"The only mission earlier today that involved Blood Mages was the assassination of 2 members of the 40 families, but we didn't cause any problems for anyone and we even confirmed their identities."
—You idiots, something definitely went wrong on this mission today. Someone told me that what you did offended many mages and he said something about the price of a dragon egg!
"Bring the report on the murders of the 13th flame!"
The leader yelled at the man who was already shaking before he ran out of the room and came back with the papers. As Owl read the report, his pupils dilated and his eyebrows furrowed the more he read. He finally sighed and said:
"I'm sorry Jack, we made a mistake. We didn't know that there were other mages' possessions in that place. Besides, this is a serious mistake that we can't fix or reverse."
"Damn it! I already told you that you were exaggerating things a while ago, this time I won't share the consequences of these actions with you. I'm out! Don't contact me anymore from today on."
After Jack got up and left, the younger man who was still shaking nervously was thinking about doing the same thing as him and abandoning the Order. He also said goodbye to the older man and quickly left the room as well. After the only one left in the room was Owl, he took a drink from his storage bag and took a long sip. This time, this mission was under his supervision and he would be the one responsible for all this trouble. He first wrote messages to his men and other vice-leaders who were below him, then he wrote to his superiors who were not in Valyria by sending a raven to the main headquarters in Braavos telling them everything that happened. They had a big plan for tomorrow, but they would have to abort everything. If people know that we were the ones who destroyed totems, it is very likely that they already know about the murders, so it would be much more difficult to do something tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Jack was returning home with a smile on his face, he thought he would have to bribe his leader to be able to leave the faceless men, but right at that moment he made such a grave mistake giving him a great opportunity to leave so easily… All that remains now is to apologize to Rafael, I already have a cabin on his ship and I am interested in the service he will do tomorrow… It seems to be something big according to Black Cat's information.
Meanwhile, chaos was happening throughout the Valyrian freehold, more precisely, in the northern district.

Kalindor was a Blood Mage who worked for the 40 families. This year, he accepted a very simple task and was in charge of the magical investigation sector that assisted the Valyrian defense force. This particular morning, he was spitting blood with rage while breaking several things in his laboratory. One of his totems that was in the depths of the 13th flame was destroyed. This morning, he also received a message from the Lord in charge of the eastern district saying that he had not fulfilled his duties, neglecting crucial investigations into a case of theft of storage bags.
While Kalindor tried to find out what happened to his totem and ignored the message from the Lord of the Eastern Defense Force, he finally received a message saying that the Countess had been murdered by the Faceless Men and that they had destroyed dozens of totems that were in the 13th flame! Despite being an anonymous message, he didn't care about the sender and was very grateful for the warning to be careful with the faceless men. He was thinking about taking revenge on those who destroyed his totem, but now that he knew that even the powerful Countess had fallen into the hands of these despicable murderers, he gave up any fight. When he thought that the bad things were over, he received another message, this time from the Lord in charge of the Defense Force of the northern district:
"Investigate a man suspected of spreading false rumors in the northern district whose name goes by the name of Red Sage. PS: Prioritize this investigation over the others."
Before he could do anything, another white owl arrived:
"Urgent: A series of murders involving magic has started in the southern district, suspected to be an altered creature. Start investigations quickly!"
'What nonsense, these starched Lords think I'm one of their damned slaves? Just when I'm supervising this department, I have to work so hard? They can all go fuck themselves, I'm leaving Valyria for a while, I need to create another totem to replace the one I lost.'
He then called his apprentice to prepare his ship, then told one of his servants to respond to the Lords' letters and requests in the same way: Lord Kalindor had a family emergency…

Ronny Belaerys, the Dragon Lord and leader of the Northern Defense Force, had been working all night. Some bastard had been spreading rumors in the northern district about a disaster. This caused riots, mass layoffs, inflation in the purchase and sale of various products, an increase in ticket prices, and breaches of contract for several ships that transported crucial cargo to the district. This caused several merchants and minor nobles to demand that he, as the person responsible for the district, take action to put an end to the rumors.
But what could he do? The rumor was already reaching the other districts and the tremor earlier today only made everything worse, as if it were a divine sign proving the truth of what was to come. How could he stop this? At most, he could try to catch the culprit and use this to calm the merchants. But even that failed. The person in charge of magical investigations, who was supposed to quickly find out who the bastard was who was inflating prices for his own benefit, sent a message today saying that he had gone on leave due to family problems and would only return a few months later! This meant that the defense force's most crucial investigation method was paralyzed for at least 3 months or until a new replacement could be chosen.
"THUD"
A huge thud was felt on his desk. With his arms tied and unable to do anything, Ronny was very frustrated. He got up and decided to go to the new opening of the main brothel in the eastern district. Feeling that only a good drink and women could improve his mood. He looked up at the roof of the building and saw his dragon Sun Queen resting. But he gave up on flying in it, deciding to go to the brothel by carriage instead. When it was past 9:00 pm and he was only a few blocks away from the brothel, a huge bang was heard:
"BOOM"
Getting out of the carriage, Ronny saw a gigantic explosion of green and red color happen, almost destroying the entire brothel he was about to visit.
The flames were spreading rapidly through the rubble in other directions and people were running out of the burning brothel, others were jumping from the second, third and even fourth floors trying to escape the flames and high temperatures. Ronny, who approached the scene and was trying to put out the flames of the victims, soon realized that those affected by the green flames could not be put out even when water was thrown. They were burning to dust. One of the men who jumped from the third floor and escaped the flames was one of the three leaders of the Triarchy of Crime in the Valyrian freehold, Kuzar. He broke one of his legs and was being rescued. I approached him and asked if he knew what happened.
"I'm not sure, I was with my brother and his son in the VIP room drinking and I went to the bathroom, that's when the explosion happened, the floor was collapsing on the third floor and I couldn't get out of there so I jumped out the window before the flames caught me."
Kuzar was lucky, I saw the guards amputating several arms and legs to get rid of the parts that were burning by the green flames. Less than 20 minutes later a brown dragon not much bigger than me landed not far away, it was the man in charge of the eastern district. When I saw him approaching I noticed that his face was horrible too. He approached and only after seeing me asked for the details.
After I explained everything I knew, he asked the guards to send a request to the Wizard for a magical investigation only for me to give him the terrible news, his anger then was similar to mine today.
"Damn those sons of bitches, they sure know how to choose the right time to escape their duties, I have a case of storage bag theft, a missing senior officer and a comatose junior, several missing slave traders, 4 mass slave escapes this morning, on top of that, rumors coming from your district are starting to spread causing chaos and now this explosion. Those bastards are going to put all the blame on me damn it!"
A look of sympathy passed across my face, the situation in the eastern district seems even worse. Soon a guard brought a list of guests. There is no noble from the 40 families on the list besides me, I was invited by Malcon, Kulan's eldest son due to our friendship. In 50 minutes we were able to confirm that neither Kulan nor his eldest son are among the survivors. I sigh sadly for the loss of my friend, but internally I am happy to have survived, if I had flown here on the Sun Queen there is a high chance that I would be one of the dead too. I put my hand on my heart and finally realize how close I came to death today. I know this was a planned act against the triarchy. Someone wanted the two leaders dead, but one of them survived. This will surely cause chaos throughout the city again. I leave some of my thoughts about possible suspects for the leader of this district to deal with and decide to leave, but there is one thing I don't need to investigate to be sure: this green fire has the direct or indirect involvement of one of the city's wizards. In the report, a name worthy of such an evil thing appeared:
Living fire!
Author's note below!
Chapter 2/2 of the day!
First note: Yes, it is the same living fire as in the books, here I say that it was a creation of one of the Blood Mages, and that only later did the recipe end up in the hands of the Maesters of the Citadel.
Second note: This week I should launch my Patreon, stay tuned for new content, news and details about my creative and writing method and also my original works. By December 25th I should have finished the copyright part and my supporters will be able to read it first before it is published here on the site.
