Capítulo 30: Birthday and awakening
In Valyria's Sigh, I find the children sitting in the cabin. I promised my blacksmith that I would look at the chains of 3 girls and 1 boy. I ask if he will be able to remove them.
"Yes, we just need a special tool. Luckily, I've seen it before, and the day you freed me, I also saw it again and paid close attention, hehe."
I understand. He didn't know he would be freed, so his hopes were in freeing himself by forging such a tool.
"But that will delay the tools you asked for. I won't be able to deliver them before Sunday, only Monday."
"No problem. Monday is fine. Prioritize their freedom. The children then thank me with tears in their eyes. I tell the 4 with chains to stay in their rooms and the rest to report to the crew. I call the only free girl and Ted to do something for me."
"Chief, if possible, I would like to have one of the boys to help me as an assistant. If it is too much for me to ask, I can share the assistant with the head chef."
I don't see why not, so I let him take one of the boys who seems to be the strongest. I tell him that the girl with me will be sent to be the head chef's assistant. He nods happily, while I go off to give the boy some lessons.
Inside a cabin that has not yet been occupied by passengers, I dump several fabrics that were in a bag and some strings. Then I tell the girl to cut the fabrics and make coin purses, I wave my hand filling a corner of the room with thousands of copper coins.
I tell Ted to separate the coins into batches of 100 for each bag and to put the extra bags away. I also tell him that it doesn't have to be done today, they can start tomorrow morning and have until Sunday morning. The two of them waste no time and start working today. I leave them and go back to my room. I eat just a snack that was in my inventory and start my meditation that I've been putting off until now. I feel the same sensation as yesterday and realize that 1 hour has passed. The system says that I meditated, but there was no purification. Maybe what happened yesterday is not something that happens often and I need more time to perform the technique. Then, I feel my body relaxed and decide to go to sleep.
[BEEP]
[BEEP]
[BEEP]
I'm woken up by several sounds and see that it's already dawn. I take my watch and see that it's 8:00 in the morning. The BEEP sounds continue while I blink my eyes, still tired. I feel something different in my body and my heart beats faster. I finally look at the floating screen in my vision and see several system alerts. The first message I see is the same every morning:
[51 hours 47 minutes and 13 seconds until the doom of Valyria]
[You have turned 16 and have reached the age of majority]
[Magic runs throughout your body, the Blood Mage spells Alteration and Synthesis have been fully unlocked] +
[A heritage within your body reacts to the age of majority and begins to awaken] +

[The knowledge of creating fire totems has been included in your mind due to the heritage] +
[Three totems created with the fireball spell have been linked to your bloodline and now with the age of majority a connection has been formed] +
[Fire totem number 1 has initiated a mental connection]
Before I could understand all the messages, my mind was pulled into a kind of trance. I found myself looking at a cave that I assume is at the bottom of the sea, as I see a puddle of water on the floor with sunlight reflected from its bottom. I am inside this cave, but when I try to see my body I see nothing. My vision is cut off and a new message arrives:
[Connection with fire totem number 1 successful]
[Fire totem number 2 has initiated a mental connection]
My mind goes away again, this time I see myself in a dark cave with no light, I can only feel the heat emanating from the barely visible walls even without having a body again. It doesn't take long and I return to my body again followed by the messages:
[Connection with fire totem number 2 was successful]
[Fire totem number 3 initiated a mental connection]
This time it's very different, I'm on a wall and when I look around I see at least 50 strange items, some are human skulls, others are skulls of creatures I've never heard of, pieces of bone glued together in distorted shapes that look like diabolical art, others are bones mixed with huge gems the size of a fist, all have some kind of rune carved into them. When I take my eyes off the "sculptures" that will give me nightmares for a while, I see a dark cave lit only with a small river of lava running through the middle of it. On my side of the cave there is a small dragon tied to a chain that holds it close to the wall I'm on and on the other side of the river of lava there are two people sitting. A woman with silver hair and a mask, she wears a simple red robe, next to her is an "old man" with black hair and eyes, dressed in elegant black robe. The old man is reading a book sitting in the lotus position, and the woman is sitting in the same position with her arms open, from time to time her arms move in a strange way when a flame in the shape of the woman herself appears on her back before going out again. The scene repeats itself every 10 seconds and she always frowns for not keeping the feminine flame intact for long. The old man then stops reading and looks directly at me, he smiles and says something to the woman, she opens her eyes and also looks at me before saying something and nodding. My vision of the cave blurs and I return to my cabin again.

And as soon as the messages end, I give a startled sigh what was all that?
