Capítulo 21: Party Like Hell

A week passed with Hiraku still recovering. On the night they returned after the battle, Hiraku was weak, and his spirit was almost crippled. He had performed a spell similar to the one Zack had used during the divine retribution, but this spell had a fixed recovery time. Hiraku suspended his physical and spiritual form entirely and created a clone of himself—a copy or variant, as Zack would call it.

This copy acted like him, spoke like him, but was only active during the day. At night, it would naturally dissipate and vanish out of existence. This cycle continued every day for two weeks. During this time, Hiraku instructed Lisa to watch over Shin, who was in a coma, and also to guide Mira. He explained to Lisa that Mira needed to understand her powers and learn how to use them. He provided Lisa with spells to help Mira grow her abilities and made a promise that, once he recovered, he would seal Mira's third eye.

Mira was listening to Mr. Park's lecture. Out of boredom, she activated her third eye. As she glanced around the room, she could see the students' souls brimming with different auras, each glowing with unique colors. She turned back and looked at the copy of Hiraku seated nearby. The aura emanating from him was dark and empty, devoid of any light.

She suddenly heard someone calling out to her—a faint voice that quickly grew louder.

"Miss Mira!" Mr. Park yelled.

"Yes, sir!" she exclaimed, snapping her head forward abruptly.

"Would you like to tell us what you admire so much about Hiraku that you can't seem to focus?" Mr. Park asked, his eyes glaring at her in anger.

In that moment, Mira felt a flicker of contempt for the bald-headed teacher.

"I'm sorry, sir. I lost focus for a moment," she said, bowing her head low.

The other students chuckled softly, entertained by the thought that she might have a crush on Hiraku.

"If you like him so much, you can wait until classes are over and confess your heart out," Mr. Park retorted, his gaze shifting back to the board as he continued teaching. Mira rolled her eyes, irritated by his choice of words.

"Hey, is it true you're dating Hiraku?"

"No, Reina, I'm not dating the nerd," Mira replied to her friend, who was trailing behind her as she walked toward Lisa's classroom.

"If you two aren't dating, then what's up with both of you?" Reina asked, folding her arms.

Mira stopped and turned to face her, clearly fed up.

"What's up is that you're making me sick to my stomach with your gossip. Now please leave me alone, okay? Gosh!" Mira bellowed, flaring her hands downward in frustration.

She continued to Lisa, and together they prepared to head over to the old farm for training. They were almost off the school grounds when Reina ran toward them and hugged Mira from behind.

"I'm sorry, babe. Forgive me, okay?" Reina apologized, her arms wrapped around Mira's waist.

Lisa smiled at the scene. For Lisa, having such a friendship had never seemed possible until she met Hiraku.

"Fine. I forgive you. Let go, okay?" Mira replied with a warm smile.

"Thanks, babe. Umm, Suzy said she's having some kind of ghost party at her house and invited us. You can bring your friend along," Reina said, withdrawing her hands from Mira, kissing her cheek, and skipping back toward the school.

"A ghost party?" Lisa asked, her curiosity evident in her expression.

"It's some silly party where people drink and tell ghost stories," Mira replied hastily, well aware of what Lisa might assume.

"You're not going, right?" Lisa asked, her voice tinged with worry as her eyes glinted with concern.

"Lisa, I have a social life, okay? I have to go, and you're coming with me. I know demons and angels exist, but we can't just shut ourselves off from the world." Mira held Lisa's hand with a reassuring tug.

"But, umm, I'm not used to parties," Lisa replied, twirling a strand of her hair with her right hand.

"Besides, Hiraku..."

Mira interrupted, locking her arm with Lisa's. "We're just going to have a good time and get back home, okay? We've got each other. Trust me."

"Okay, but if I feel uneasy, I'm leaving," Lisa said firmly.

"No problem. I promise nothing will make you feel uneasy, Lisa Daiya." Mira raised her left hand as if taking an oath, but Lisa quickly pushed it down, feeling embarrassed.

"Let's party!" a voice resonated in the house, accompanied by the loud, booming noise from the stereo blasting through the air. Students danced, many wearing masquerade masks.

The atmosphere didn't sit well with Lisa, who sat uncomfortably on the sofa, sipping water.

"Hey, can I get you a beer?" a tall stranger asked. His good looks might have impressed any other girl, but not Lisa.

"I'm good, thank you," Lisa responded politely.

The tall stranger scrutinized her. She was wearing laced blue jeans and a red top—she looked hot, though not in the conventional sense. He sat next to her, smiling.

Lisa glanced at him briefly, forcing a polite smile before looking away uncomfortably. She took another sip of water, each gulp reflecting her regret for coming to the party.

The tall stranger suddenly picked up her glass and drank the remaining water. Lisa's eyes widened in disgust. Before she could say anything, he leaned in, attempting to kiss her cheek. She jolted up, glaring at him in utter revulsion.

"You're sick," Lisa scowled at him, her arms wrapped around herself as though she were cold.

Lisa stormed over to Mira and firmly requested to leave. At this point, Mira had already mentally labeled Lisa as a sociopathic introvert, but she also understood her discomfort. Maybe the battles Lisa had fought weighed heavily on her emotionally.

They were just about to leave when a girl from the crowd of students made a shocking announcement—one that left Mira and Lisa frozen in disbelief.
