Capítulo 66: Player Arrives

**Looking at Another Task**

Bai Yi looked at the second task in his panel.

**[Task 2: The Boss's Arrogance]**

*Task Type: Position Task*

**Mission Description:** Refuse any official position and establish your own power.

**Task Duration:** 365 natural days.

**Fixed Rewards:** Seven-Star Title [Boss Lord], Legendary Degree × 20, Skill Points × 10, Free Attribute Points × 10.

**Additional Rewards:** Extra rewards based on the strength of your power.

**Failure Penalty:** Severe reduction in Federation favorability.

**Introduction:** How can a true boss accept someone else's title? You should be your own king and create your own faction.

Bai Yi realized that both tasks required him to build a power, but with different approaches—one to rise within an official hierarchy and the other to forge his own path. After weighing the options, Bai Yi ultimately chose **Task One.**

Building a force from the ground up was a daunting task, and Bai Yi didn't have the time to commit to such an undertaking. The city lord position, however, provided an easier route to power. While the old city lord favored Mossen, Bai Yi knew that strength and talent spoke louder than favoritism in the Federation. Once he proved his strength, everything would fall into place naturally.

Bai Yi wasn't concerned about the possible outcomes. Even in the worst case, he'd end up as the lord of a smaller city. With 610 cities in the Federation, not all of them were valuable—some were barely worth gold. And the rewards from Task One outweighed the penalties from Task Two.

*"Task One has been accepted. Task validity countdown: 364 days, 23 hours, 59 minutes."*

With the task settled, Bai Yi set it aside for now. There was no rush. Sabo would handle player-related matters for the time being, and Bai Yi only needed to check in at the last moment.

His focus shifted to remodeling the store. From now on, Liming Pharmacy would no longer deal with low-end business. The focus would be on pre-orders, allowing Bai Yi to refine the store's operations and prepare for the incoming players. He also needed to run more experiments to figure out how the store would interact with players once they arrived.

**Progress and Preparations**

The Alchemy Magic Network terminals were set up between the capital and Dongwu City. Now, it was up to mobile manufacturers to mass-produce and distribute them. Meanwhile, the first intercontinental missile test had been a resounding success, with a margin of error of no more than three meters at a range of 5,000 kilometers—a statistic that had shocked everyone in the Federation.

Alchemists below the gold level idolized Bai Yi, and the Difeng family had begun mass-producing intercontinental missiles, delivering them first to the four border city-states. The family only charged a nominal fee, as they couldn't afford to lose the business, but the missiles provided an immense sense of security in the increasingly dangerous times.

"Boss, I'm dreaming again…"

Luo Ning's voice interrupted his thoughts as she knocked on the lab door with a worried expression.

Bai Yi turned his attention to her, asking calmly, "What's going on? What did you dream about?"

Luo Ning's face was etched with unease. "The sky cracked, and something was preventing it from healing. It feels dangerous."

Bai Yi fell silent for a moment, glancing at the countdown timer on his screen. *[Internal test countdown: 1 day, 10 hours, 30 minutes.]*

Patting her head reassuringly, he said, "Don't worry, you're almost at the bronze level. Focus on your training and stay in the shop for now. I'll handle the rest."

Luo Ning hesitated, then asked, "But Sister Irene said she plans to return to her old place. Boss, can you let her stay? We can pay the rent."

Bai Yi sighed, a bit helpless. "When did I ever chase anyone away? Just stay here. I'll arrange for Orr to connect the lounge and the reception room, so you'll have your own space. Don't overthink it."

Luo Ning seemed reassured as she turned to leave, looking back at him every few steps. Meanwhile, Bai Yi returned to work on the store. Liming Pharmacy would soon operate on a new model, with a focus on pre-orders, but he also needed to prepare for the incoming players. He still needed time to figure out how the store would handle them.

Sabo's preparations would be done soon. Bai Yi thought back to the final countdown. The internal test was rapidly approaching.

---

**The Countdown to the Internal Test**

As the clock ticked closer to the start of the internal test, Bai Yi stepped outside and began browsing the forum. The forum was buzzing with activity, especially with some familiar figures catching his eye. Several popular game streamers, whom he used to follow, were also listed as internal testers.

Bai Yi had memorized many techniques from these streamers, so he was eager to see how they would approach the test. Of course, their participation might be a result of some collaboration with the game company, or perhaps a transaction. Regardless, the live broadcast from the city-wide servers would offer a valuable chance to observe how the player base interacted with the game.

Bai Yi approached Sabo, who had set up a high wall around the land now under his control. Curious onlookers stood at a distance, but no one dared approach due to the presence of the Wucheng Army.

"Are you ready?" Bai Yi asked softly.

"Don't worry, it's all under control," Sabo replied with a grin. Together, they entered the city within a city.

Meanwhile, Bai Yi's attention shifted back to one of the streamers he followed in his past life. The live stream was drawing massive viewership, with over 10 million people watching. The comments flooded the screen, but the stream never lagged.

"It's already being modeled. Feels just like VR at the moment. Just give it a bit more time," Wei Lu, the host, said, his voice smooth and confident.

The camera cut to a scene where the body of a night elf was being rapidly constructed, its facial features being finely adjusted.

"I chose the night elves because they're the fastest race. The Federation specializes in warriors and assassins, and I've picked the assassin class, so I need the best race for that."

He paused, then added, "For those planning to play as mages, I'd recommend humans. They're average, but well-suited for mages. Orcs are great for warriors, and goblins... well, they're fine for entertainment, but I wouldn't pick them for competitive play."

Wei Lu continued his professional commentary as he sculpted the character, selecting Dongwu City for his character's spawn point.

"Why Dongwu City, you ask? My intuition tells me something big is going to happen here. I've got a feeling Bai Yi will have a hand in it."

With the countdown nearing zero, a massive vortex appeared, and the screen cut to black.

---

**A New Reality**

When the screen flickered back to life, Wei Lu found himself in a wooden house, standing beside a simple bed and desk. He checked his body, disbelief flashing across his face.

"Fuck, I'm really in it, aren't I?" He cursed, touching his panel in a daze. "It feels too real."

Just as he tried to process it, a series of messages flashed across his screen.

**[You have entered a special area. Strength -980, Speed -340, Endurance +100. Your spirit is suppressed, and you are afflicted with a variety of debuffs: Cursed, Charmed, Poisoned, Frozen, Burned, Dying, and more.]**

"Fuck," Wei Lu muttered, panic rising in his chest.

The comment section exploded with expletives, but Wei Lu steadied himself, mentally repeating, *"This is just a cutscene... Just a cutscene..."*
