Capítulo 304: Chapter 304: Is Your Face Valuable to Shinki?
"Hey, hey, hey, bring it on!!!"
Controlling a puppet carrying Nara Shikaku's clothes toward the ANBU base, Shinki let out a malicious laugh.
"Haha, Nara Shikashin will probably lose it when he finds out!"
Too bad it's already too late!
"I'll take your son off your hands for a bit and train him myself. During this period, he'll live at the base. Once he's passed the training and signed a contract, he can go back home."
Meanwhile, on the way to school, Shikaku's little friend saw him being captured by a puppet as if he were a chicken. Terrified, the boy dropped his schoolbag and bolted for home.
Ten minutes later, Nara Shikashin, who was calmly eating breakfast, found his thoughts interrupted by the commotion of several people bursting into his house.
"Clan Leader! Shikaku has been kidnapped by someone from ANBU!"
"????"
"What? My son was taken? I finally have a son, and now that he's growing up, something like this happens?"
"Bang!!" Nara Shikashin slammed the table in anger. "How dare they?! Who would have the audacity to kidnap someone like this within the village?"
"Um... it seems like it's someone from ANBU."
"Why would ANBU arrest my son... Wait, who exactly caught him?"
Realizing something was off, Nara Shikashin's heart skipped a beat. The more he thought about it, the clearer it became.
"Damn it, Shinki! You don't play fair!! Didn't I leave you in charge of handling official business? And now you've gone after my kid?! He's still a child!"
Taking a deep breath, Nara Shikashin sighed. "Fine, I'll handle it. Don't worry. I'll get him back."
Knowing it was Shinki's doing, he wasn't too worried about Shikaku's safety. It was probably just some ridiculous training scheme.
After finishing his breakfast, Nara Shikashin headed to the Hokage's office before rushing to the ANBU base. However, what he didn't expect was to be blocked at the entrance by a group of puppets.
"Shinki, you bastard! Release my son!!! Get these puppets out of the way!!"
Inside the ANBU office, Shinki doubled over with laughter, holding his stomach.
Meanwhile, poor Shikaku, seated at a desk piled with documents, looked miserable.
"Is this something a kid like me should be doing? Can I just go back to school? Suddenly, classes seem fun compared to this."
Patting Shikaku's shoulder, Shinki said seriously, "Don't let me down. Take your time; I believe in you. After all, your father said he started training you early. These are just small chores—nothing to worry about."
"Oh, and by the way," Shinki added with a smirk, "you can't leave the base without my permission. This is your new home now."
"...This is child exploitation," Shikaku muttered under his breath, his face darkening.
Back at Shinki's house, Nara Shikashin vented to Tsunade about the situation, accusing Shinki of child exploitation.
Tsunade just shrugged. "The old one's irresponsible, and the young one's reckless. It's a perfect match."
Seeing no other options, Nara Shikashin reluctantly accepted the situation.
Later, during a meeting with the Third Hokage, the topic came up.
"So, I heard your son was taken by ANBU?"
Nara Shikashin's face stiffened. "It's just a joke. Shinki wanted to train Shikaku to take over my position, but I think he should finish school first. But, well... Shinki took him to the base anyway."
"Ah, I see," the Third Hokage replied. "I was worried it was a conflict between you two."
"No, no, no need for you to step in," Shikashin replied hastily, forcing a smile. He thought to himself, If you get involved, it'll only make things worse.
Besides, your face isn't worth much to Shinki.
After the meeting, Nara Shikashin left, resolving not to dwell on the matter further. However, the news that Konoha planned to disarm spread like wildfire, leaving everyone stunned—even their enemies.
"What is this old man Hiruzen up to?" the Third Kazekage muttered in disbelief. "He can't seriously be planning to disarm the army, can he?"
