Capítulo 48: Chapter 47: Darneth

"What? Someone's spying!" Sanchi jumped up, looking around quickly, his head swiveling in all directions.

Kado also closed his eyes and carefully sensed, but felt nothing. After countless training sessions, Kado had come to a realization: power enhancement strengthens the armament haki, speed enhancement improves reaction speed, which is somewhat similar to the sixth sense. On the other hand, Kenbunshoku Haki (Observation Haki) is essentially a feeling, similar to the sixth sense, allowing the user to sense the opponent's position, movements, and even words.

Since Fite had already mastered Kenbunshoku Haki, although he wasn't as powerful as Enel, who could cover an entire island, he could still use it for enemy reconnaissance. Therefore, Kado mostly focused on enhancing his strength and recovery abilities, which meant that his sensing abilities were somewhat weaker than Fite's. It wasn't surprising that he failed to sense someone spying on them.

"This direction," Fite walked over to a wall and knocked a few times on the rocky surface. Then, he nodded at Kado.

Receiving the silent cue, Kado stepped forward, his hand seeming to wield an invisible, yet very sharp blade, cutting a square-shaped hole in the rock wall.

As the rock slab fell away, a small hole, about the size of a thumb, appeared behind the wall. At the end of the hole was a bright point of light. Having been in such a dim environment for so long, the light seemed particularly glaring.

"How did this small hole get here? When was it made?" The Queen's face turned pale with shock. She had not expected a hole like this to exist in the wall of her room. If someone had been spying from the outside, all her actions would have been completely visible to others.

"Don't worry, this small hole was just formed." Fite glanced at the Queen and said, "When I noticed someone spying, I used my Haki to interfere. The other party may have thought they couldn't hear us clearly, so they deliberately made this small hole here."

"It must be someone with a special ability," the fat man finally had a moment of insight, quickly deducing, "The Queen's room, like the palace, is built with the back against the rocks. There's a hundred-meter-thick rock wall behind it. Only someone with powers could create a hole like this in a few hundred meters of rock."

Kado stared at the small hole for a moment and nodded, saying, "That light, it's definitely sunlight. The other party must still be in place. Should we go and catch them?"

"Do you think they're idiots?" Sanchi muttered. "By now, they must know we've discovered them."

"Yes, given their ability to eavesdrop from such a distance, they must already know we've discovered them. They're probably planning to escape by now. Even if we rush over, we won't catch them." Fite nodded, agreeing with Sanchi's point.

Just after he spoke, Fite's expression suddenly changed, and he shouted, "Something's coming!"

As soon as Fite finished speaking, an eerie laughter echoed through the room:

"Wow, I didn't expect a few big names to show up on this small island. The three of you from the Night Owl Pirates, I don't want to be your enemy, so leave now while you're still wise. Otherwise, stay forever..."

"Cute little Cherry, I imagine you've forgotten my voice, but that's okay. You'll remember it forever from now on. I'll give you two days to consider. Agree to my proposal, and I'll spare Naga. Otherwise, Naga will vanish like the Darneth people from five thousand years ago..."

After a few moments of careful sensing, Fite said, "This time, they really have disappeared."

"Phew, this guy really is elusive. He almost scared me to death. That creepy 'wahaha' laugh was disgusting, too," Sanchi said as he plopped down onto a stone chair, patting his chest and letting out a sigh of relief.

Now that Fite had confirmed the other party had truly left, Kado also breathed a sigh of relief. After all, being spied on was an unpleasant feeling.

However, the expressions of the fat man and the queen were not as relaxed, both showing looks of surprise and concern.

The fat man usually acted carefree and careless, and Kado had never seen him look so serious. Kado thought the fat man was worried that the incident with Naga might involve him, so he tried to reassure him, saying, "Don't worry, you treat us like partners, and we would never abandon a partner. Two days from now, I'm curious to see what tricks he has up his sleeve."

Upon hearing Kado's words, Fite and Sanchi both nodded. This talkative, lovable idiot of a fat man trusted them completely, just as Kado said—someone who can fully trust you is a natural partner, someone you can safely rely on your back with.

"They're not worried about that, but they're worried that Naga might end up like the Darneth people," suddenly spoke up Old Lady Atam.

"The Darneth people? What's that about?" Kado only just realized, recalling that the mysterious voice earlier had threatened the queen with the Darneth people.

"Let me tell you," said the queen with a troubled expression. This was the first time she spoke to Kado in such a tone, without any doubt.

"Legend says that five thousand years ago, some people moved to Skull Island, known as the Darneth people. When Naga arrived on this island, we discovered a stone wall that recorded the history of the Darneth people. According to the stone, the Darneth invented crystal vines and methods of taming sea kings. Their kingdom was prosperous and strong, and many were proud to be Darneth. The Darneth flourished for four thousand years, but four thousand years ago, Skull Island drifted into a windless zone for three hundred years. When they finally drifted back, the world had changed dramatically. Many countries had disappeared, and the World Government emerged at that time. The history ends there, with no further record. Naga's ancestors suspected that the Darneth had perished, but the cause of their demise was never recorded. There were also many shipwrecks found on the island, which were the remains of World Government warships…"

After the queen finished speaking, her expression darkened even further. The sudden extinction of the Darneth people, the abrupt interruption in the stone records, and the wreckage of navy ships left on the island all presented potential dangers to Naga. Without understanding the reasons behind these events, Naga might very well meet the same fate.

"These are the reasons why our Naga ancestors have been studying how to control the movement of Skull Island. We're not afraid of the island sinking; this colossal island has been floating on the sea for thousands of years, it's already a floating island. What we fear is that one day, Skull Island might drift into a windless zone, and after several hundred years, when we return to this world like savages, we would perish due to ignorance." The fat man spoke, his expression unusually serious, finally showing the concern of a king for his nation.

"So, it seems that only two kinds of people know the history of the Darneth: the native Naga people and the navy. From the voice of the person just now, it's very likely that he's a native Naga and probably knows 'Cherry.'" Fite nodded, understanding the queen's and the fat man's concerns. The most terrifying thing in the world is an unknown danger, and anyone would feel fear at the sudden extinction of the Darneth people.

"No, how could the island's natives have ever heard of the Night Owl Pirate Group? This guy is most likely from the navy. Maybe he's been lurking on the island for many years, and that's why he says Cherry knows him," Kado interrupted Fite's words. Analyzing the previous person's words, Fite suddenly thought of the Navy's intelligence department, the CP organization. Just like how CP9's Lucci and his team had infiltrated Water 7 for years to gain trust, other groups like CP1 and CP2 could have had agents lurking on this island for years as well.

"But if it really is the Navy that has been infiltrating this island for years, what exactly have they been doing here? When did they infiltrate, and how did they get here? The Skull Island has been in a windless zone all this time. Unless there was a shipwreck, no one could have reached this island." The Queen questioned, based on her understanding. The windless zone was the end for all ships, so how could the Navy have sent people across it to reach Skull Island?

"Hehe, you've been disconnected from the rest of the world for too long. In the past twenty years, the Navy has developed a type of ship that can sail through the windless zone. The ship we used to sail through the windless zone was one of these Navy-built special warships. Otherwise, how could we have come so close to your island and accidentally collided with it?" Sanchi chuckled awkwardly, starting to understand why the Naga people were so afraid of being isolated from the world. It was like a country that shut itself off from the outside world—without cultural or technological exchange, how could any real development happen?
