Capítulo 91: Are we to be bound as lifelong partners?

"..." The indifferent man coldly averted his gaze, beginning to scrutinize the towering pyramid before him.

Unfazed by the demons' taunts and roars, he continued to ignore them as usual.

Before him stood the so-called ancient magical relic.

This was the site of an ancient magical empire, discovered recently by the young explorer, Ezreal, during a perilous adventure. Surrounding the lofty pyramid was an unceasingly howling sandstorm, and for reasons unknown, the ferocity of these winds was astonishing; anyone lacking the strength of a seventh tier or above attempting to enter the sand-enshrouded area would be mercilessly reduced to mere dust by the swirling debris.

Even seventh and eighth tier practitioners could not withstand the sandstorm for long; it was almost exclusively ninth tier practitioners who could truly disregard the violent winds and sands.

According to Ezreal, the entrance to this ancient pyramid would open automatically, but it would only do so on a specific day each month, seemingly following a cyclical pattern. On this designated day, the entrance would open without restraint, while at all other times, the pyramid remained firmly sealed.

Moreover, the pyramid was exceptionally sturdy; despite appearing to be constructed merely of ordinary stones, its fortitude was such that even a full-force assault from a ninth tier practitioner would leave not a single mark upon its walls.

Based on Ezreal's deductions, today marked the day the pyramid's entrance would be unlocked.

Since Xiao Mu Yu and his companions escaped from the Illusory Dream Killing Grounds, more than half a month had passed. During this time, the four had traversed the desert. Fortunately, their drop-off point was not far from their intended route, allowing them to navigate the desert as planned under Riven's guidance, utilizing the small village of the Tauren as a passage.

Since that fateful night, however, Xiao Mu Yu had remained silent regarding the matter of their marriage, and peculiarly, Riven seemed to have completely forgotten about it.

Throughout their journey, she had not mentioned it even once. Yet, this silence had instilled a heightened sense of vigilance in little Annie. Typically, the spirited girl appeared unchanged, lively and mischievous as ever, but since that evening, she had clung to Xiao Mu Yu, resolutely denying Riven and him any chance for solitude.

"Ha ha… Captain Riven, I did not expect to see you here," Darius remarked with a chilling smile, observing the silver-haired woman beside Xiao Mu Yu, who bore a massive two-handed sword. "You leave the Third Legion of Tirisfal unattended and venture alone to the far-off deserts of Shurima. Have you decided to abandon your subordinates?"

"Isn't this what you have always hoped for?" Riven retorted coldly, her expression devoid of any mirth as she locked eyes with Darius. "Since you are so concerned about our Third Legion, I must ask you—why aren't you tending to the stability of Moretal? Are you not afraid of a rebellion from those insufferable nobles in the capital?"

"Ha ha… If those charming nobles had even half the strength of your Third Legion, Captain Riven—no, even a third of your Legion's combat prowess—I might consider them a threat. But as things stand… heh… I believe you are the more formidable one, Captain Riven."

Darius chuckled with a hint of amusement. "How fortunate that you find yourself alone, while we have three ninth tier practitioners gathered here… heh… If we do not seize this rare opportunity, it would be a disservice to ourselves, wouldn't you agree, Captain Riven?"

"Well, you can certainly try to see if the three of you can subdue us," Riven's striking crimson eyes narrowed with determination.

"You?" Darius casually glanced at the cold, silent man beside her, then remarked with a smirk, "Aside from this charming Captain Teemo… I hardly believe the formidable Beastmaster and the astute Xiao Mu Yu would turn against us Noxians for the sake of a stranger they have only recently met."

"Indeed, if I were truly a stranger, my dear temperament would likely lead me to disregard the matter. However, the circumstances are quite different now." The silver-haired woman suddenly exuded a palpable aura of menace, gently entwining her arm with the man's.

This robust and imposing woman, who had just moments ago stood defiantly against Darius, now resembled a shy newlywed, lowering her head bashfully as she said, "I am already pledged to a lifelong union with Mu Yu; how could my dear possibly neglect me?"

"..." Xiao Mu Yu coldly rubbed his forehead, remaining silent.

Time seemed to freeze, as Darius and Katarina wore expressions of utter disbelief, as if witnessing the apocalypse or encountering something beyond their comprehension.

Observing the bashful woman, who clung to the indifferent man as if seeking solace, the two exchanged incredulous glances, questioning their sanity.

"Wow! Married, married… giggle… marriage is the best! Urgot loves marriage… giggle… the essence of marriage is simply delightful!" From behind Darius, the previously disinterested stitched monstrosity suddenly clapped its hands, exclaiming, "Katarina, Katarina, Urgot wants to eat… Urgot wants to eat, Urgot wants to devour a marriage…"

"..." Katarina, somewhat exasperated by the creature's childlike antics as it tugged at her clothing like a demanding child, sighed and gently patted its head, "Urgot, be a good boy and watch quietly. No talking! If you say another word, you won't get dinner tonight."

"Swish."

In an instant, the creature produced a sharp needle from seemingly nowhere, brandishing it wildly at its own mouth. Within two seconds, the stitched monstrosity had sewn its own mouth shut with the very needle and thread.

"That's nonsense! Sister Riven, you're lying!" Despite Xiao Mu Yu's indifference, the little girl hiding behind him boldly exposed the silver-haired woman's deceit. "Sister Riven, you're fabricating stories; big brother never agreed to marry you."

"Is there really a need for an agreement when it comes to marriage?" Unfazed by the little girl's ruthless revelation of her lie, the silver-haired woman replied nonchalantly. "Your big brother proposed to me, and I accepted his proposal… We have already progressed to this point; isn't that sufficient? As for the wedding, it's merely a formality—why place so much importance on it?"

"That's absurd! You…" The little girl was becoming increasingly agitated, but at that moment, a clear voice suddenly rang out, interrupting her unspoken words.

"Oh dear, there are so many people here! Oh? Is that you, Mr. Mu Yu? And… the axe wielder? You're all here?"

It was a golden-haired girl clad in a fitted blue mage robe, adorned with a charming pointed wizard's hat. This hat, which would appear rather gloomy atop a typical mage, instead lent an endearing charm to the girl, reminiscent of a neighborly little sister.

Accompanying her were two companions, a tall man clad in golden armor, his handsome features bearing a hint of age, as if he had endured many trials and tribulations.

The iron spear he gripped tightly radiated strands of terrifying malevolence, coalescing around the cold blade—a potency only a weapon forged through countless blood-soaked battles could possess.

Trailing closely behind the imposing man was a beautiful red-haired woman, who seemed to be either his lover or perhaps a devoted servant.

With a mere glance, Darius recognized the trio before him—Prince Jarvan of Demacia, the captain of his royal guard, a mysterious ninth-tier powerhouse named Shyvana, and Lux, the sister of the fearless general Garen, who headed the Demacian Intelligence Bureau.

"Lux…" Upon seeing the golden-haired girl, Katarina's expression turned complex.

"Hehe, it's Sister Katarina! I didn't realize you were here too!" Lux exclaimed cheerfully, waving her hand upon noticing the woman behind Darius.

Katarina sighed softly, casting a complicated glance at the seemingly joyful girl.

Though Lux beamed with happiness, Katarina discerned a trace of deeply concealed hostility in the girl's seemingly cheerful eyes—an animosity distinct from that which Jarvan exhibited upon encountering Darius.

I find myself at a loss for words, despite having numerous ideas swirling in my mind; I simply cannot seem to articulate a single word… Sigh… I hope to feel more inspired tomorrow…
