Capítulo 57: Chapter 57

[3rd POV]

The heavy doors to the Hall opened, interrupting Ra's thoughts as the words of the woman entering filled the room.

"Father, may I disturb you?"

"Enter, Talia."

Ra's said, not turning to look at her, "What matter brings you to me this time?"

"The same as ten days ago, when Lady Shiva returned."

Talia replied, "That impudent young man dared to refuse our offer, slaughtered over a dozen of our warriors, and showed us nothing but disrespect. He even dared to wound Shiva grievously and with deceitful tactics."

"Are you really that worried about your friend?"

Ra's voice held a note of surprise.

"She's no worse a fighter than you or me. There's no need to worry about her. You're more likely insulting her than trying to help."

"I didn't mean to question her skills or honor. I'm just wondering why you haven't given the order to eliminate Batman and Dinklage. They both refused and pose a threat…"

"It's not the time for you to think about this. You're going to marry one of them. I've made my will known to you, and it's time for you to accept it."

"I'm not opposing your will, father."

Talia clenched her fists, "But I want to understand what they're about. Besides, I don't understand why Dinklage interests you so much more than Gotham's 'Dark Knight'?"

"This policeman defeated Batman's entire team and three of his allies all by himself."

At these words, Talia's eyes widened in surprise.

Since Ras al Ghul had always spoken with respect about the "Bat-family," it was shocking to her that an unknown "nobody" had managed to defeat these four.

Initially, she believed these four posed a greater threat than Ra's himself due to their training, connections, and resources.

She now started to feel differently about them trying to win her "hand and heart."

Talia was confused, "But how did you find out about him?"

"You'll learn that when he comes here himself. He will definitely ask me about it, and you will hear the answer from him. So, don't leave Nanda Parbat. Soon, everything will be clear. I think you're tired, Talia. You just returned from my mission, it must have been very difficult. So, rest."

A silence hung in the air.

Talia was irritated that her father hadn't even looked her way throughout their entire conversation as he was speaking to himself.

Lately, this has been happening more and more often.

This angered her.

She had long stopped hating herself for being born a woman, but the anger that she didn't receive recognition from Ras, the one she respected, was still there.

He had preferred his dead son, who had died even before Talia and her older sister Nissa were born.

Nyssa was now in Russia with her own clan, and these "suitors" annoyed her, even though she hadn't seen any of them in person yet.

He now wanted to send her away again, just like when she was younger, to avoid bothering him.

This made Talia al Ghul even angrier.

"You're right, Father. With your permission, I'll go to my room."

Afterward, she quickly walked away.

[1st POV]

It was mid-September, and Pamela and I were leaving the city for an ENTIRE MONTH!

I had been looking forward to this vacation for a long time, just as Pamela had.

My work had been well received by the department, and before Gordon's wife arrived who was delayed in Washington again, I managed to secure a month-long leave with a bonus from the last time.

Fortunately, my intuition remained silent about any potential problems.

That was reassuring.

I sincerely hoped the entire vacation would go as planned.

After all, this was the first time Pamela and I were going on a vacation together, and I didn't want anything to ruin it.

"Isaac!!!"

A painfully familiar male voice sounded from the entrance.

"What?!"

I was surprised to see who had entered, followed by another person behind him.

"Lucifer? Mazikeen? What are you doing here?"

Lucifer immediately embraced me while Mazikeen sat tiredly in a chair, looking somewhat resigned.

I hadn't expected to see them here.

I had been busy packing and didn't sense them hiding themselves well enough to escape my senses.

"Well, look at that. Not much time has passed, and already you're not happy to see me. My heart is breaking into pieces. Pamela, why are you silent?"

Pamela, who had approached us from the kitchen, greeted our guests with a smile and a nod, then turned to me.

"I called them. I thought you'd be happy to see them. Lucifer mentioned that it was boring in Los Angeles, so I decided to surprise you with a trip somewhere with your "friend" and teacher, as well as companion. Besides, as I understand it, they know how to have fun."

'Oh, you naive soul…'

"See? This lovely woman knows what you need. So, don't sulk. We'll make the most of this month."

Lucifer patted me on the shoulder and headed toward the kitchen, "So, where's the alcohol around here?!"

I shouldn't have told her about him and let her answer a few of his phone calls.

"By the way, you still haven't told me which country you chose for the vacation?"

I turned to Pamela.

I fully trusted her with the choice of location.

I had plenty of thoughts on the matter, but then, deciding not to stress over it, I left it up to her.

"Bialya. It's a country on the Arabian Peninsula, a very popular vacation spot with great service.

"Hmm. I think I've heard something about it…"

I mumbled but couldn't remember exactly what, from where, or from whom.

Meanwhile, Mazikeen sighed even more and started drinking heavily. I should ask her what happened.

I feel like I've missed a lot in their lives.

But that can wait.

I need to make sure we don't miss the flight. After all, we're heading for a nice vacation today.

To be continued...
