Capítulo 13: Change friend group?

Each one cost 100 Naira and was mostly small in size. However, despite its size and high price, people still bought it like crazy.

The thing about it was simple: if you bought one, you would be tempted to buy another. After all, even if it's small, it was still meat.

There has never been a time when meat wasn't sweet, even when not seasoned properly.

That was the reason why many students had left the school grounds without any money for transport back to their homes.

David and his friend had held themselves back each time, but now things were different.

"Ma, give me the entire bucket, I'll pay for it," David ordered with a smile on his face.

"Are you mad?"

A loud voice was heard as David instinctively ducked. Turning around, he saw his friends looking at him in disappointment.

"Okay, Ma, just eight is enough," David said, giving in.

"Bro, just because you have the money now doesn't mean you should be spending it wantonly. You can go broke at any moment in this economy," Shedrack said.

"I understand, but trust me, don't worry about it. It's not like I'm a Yahoo boy; this money won't be finishing anytime soon."

(A/N: 'Yahoo Boy', fancy term for internet fraudsters)

"Is that not what Anthony said last time he cashed out five million? That was a week ago, and he's broke now," Gabriel chipped in.

"Five million in one week?" David asked, shocked.

How does one even do that? Here he was thinking about how to spend his money, and there was someone out there wasting five million Naira in just a week.

Looking at his group of friends, David felt the need to suddenly change who he hung out with. Maybe more extravagant friends would make him spend the money faster.

His current friend group was like him—cautious and extreme planners when it came to money.

Hell, even his plans to spend the money would supposedly earn him billions in just a month. That wasn't spending; that was just investment.

"Guys, I need to spend 1 trillion dollars in a year. Do you think I should involve him? He seems efficient in spending money," David said, earning himself several death stares.

"I swear, if not for your bodyguard, I would have beaten the shit out of you today," Gabriel said.

"Wait, do you actually mean it?" Shedrack suddenly asked.

"Think of it as an inheritance quest or something?"

"Which kind of question is that? Where would he even find $1 trillion in this world? Even countries don't have that kind of money in their treasury," Uchenna said.

Looking at his friends, he didn't know how to explain it to them, nor could he even show them his bank account to prove it to them that he had such an amount—and more.

A trillion KWD wasn't 1 trillion USD; it was 3.27 trillion USD. He was not only far richer than the richest men in the world, but he could outbid any country in anything they wanted.

"…"

"Do you mean it?" Gabriel asked.

"Is that why you have been asking all those stupid questions inside the group chat?" Shedrack asked.

"Where did you even get that kind of money from?" Uchenna asked.

"Did you not hear 'inheritance quest'? Wait, that means your family considers $1 trillion as nothing? Bro, what are you, a Saudi prince or something?"

"Even better, I am my own country," David replied with a smile as the three looked at him as though he was a mental patient.

Truthfully, what could be better than being a Saudi prince, though? A family so wealthy that it moves billions of dollars each day, all the women you want, and more.

Yet here they were, listening to their friend speak such blasphemy.

"Bro, you were broke until yesterday. You are not better than a Saudi prince."

"Bro, I mean it. I am recognized as my own sovereign entity," David said, trying to defend his title.

It was unearned, but it was still a title recognized by various international bodies and parties.

"Okay, let's move somewhere better. I feel like you'll soon say or do something outrageous now," Gabriel said, making the other three look at their environment.

It couldn't be helped; even if they didn't consider it true, their conversation was attracting more attention than it needed to.

"That makes sense, follow me," David said in agreement.

Without another word from them, the trio followed David, who led them to the car.

"We're leaving," David announced before he got into the car.

"I can now die in peace. I have experienced the inside of a Rolls Royce," Shedrack said as he sat down.

Thanks to their relatively small size due to their compulsory weight loss routine that begins the moment you get back to your lodge or hostel, the three managed to fit in properly.

"Guy, we have reduced too much," Gabriel noted.

"At this point, my mama will take me for an HIV test," Uchenna replied.

"At least her necromancy is working fine," Shedrack added.

"It's you that should be more worried. You don't even have a body in the first place. If you get any thinner, you will disappear," David added.

"I don't blame you; it's because you now have money," Gabriel said.

Like idiots, the four of them bantered about any random thing that came to mind, with no pattern to their conversation at all.

They started new topics at random and dropped certain conversations as though they had forgotten about them.

Despite the noisy atmosphere, the car continued down the road with extreme grace and speed.

Before long, the car was in front of his estate, and soon they were all dropped off. David pitied the driver the most during the journey back home.

"Thank you, sir,"

His friends greeted as they came down from the vehicle. Seeing this, David smiled as he saw the man bow in return.

"Don't worry, I'm doing my job," the driver replied.

"Okay, let's go in," David said as he immediately turned to enter the house.

Entering the house, David saw the maids and George, the butler, standing in the main lobby as though waiting for him to pass.

"Welcome home, sir," George greeted almost as soon as they opened the door.

"Welcome, sir!" The maids behind him echoed.

Seeing this, David was flustered a bit but decided to simply smile and nod to acknowledge them. He wasn't used to such a sight at all.

"Guy, how rich are you now?" Uchenna whispered as he bowed out of respect for the older George and maids.

"Rich enough to not be considered an individual," David replied truthfully, but looking at them, he knew they were lost.

However, like the truth of the source of his wealth and exactly how rich he was, he would never reveal it.

"Don't tell me, you have a swimming pool, right?" Gabriel asked excitedly.

"You see this kind of big house, and you're asking such an obvious question?" Shedrack asked as he slapped the back of Gabriel's head.

"Don't worry, even I don't know everything here. I just moved in yesterday, after all," David replied.
