The Black, tinted Rolls-Royce, halted in front of The New Gen Hospital. Kelvin turned off the engine and called out to Sorin because he was far away, in his own world.
"Sir? We're here." He said to Sorin, which made him jerk about into reality.
As he peeped outside through the car window, he began to wonder why they were at the hospital at that moment.
"And what are we doing here, Kelvin?" He asked Kelvin, raising his eyebrows in confusion.
"Mrs Zaveri is here, sir." He answered.
"Mrs Zaveri? What are you talking about, Kelvin?" Sorin questioned him further.
Kelvin paused for a while as he began to think of what Sorin's reaction was going to be like when he finally told him that he brought him to the hospital to see me, his wife.
He had thought Sorin heard him earlier, when he asked if they should come to the hospital to see her but it just dawned on him that Sorin didn't hear because he paid no attention at that moment but now that they had gotten to the hospital, he knew it was going to be fierce battle.
He was still thinking of what to say and how to say it when Sorin, who was now getting impatient, started asking him a series of questions again.
"Kelvin? Have you gone deaf? Are you deaf? Can't you speak? Sorin harshly spoke and this made Kelvin understand that Sorin's anger was increasing by the second.
"I'm sorry, sir." Kelvin began by apologising.
"When we were at Miss Daisy's house, I asked if we could come to the hospital to check on Mrs Andrea, since you've not seen her since she passed out at home." He continued, while Sorin's eyes kept shooting daggers at him.
"And I told you that I wanted to see her? Or that I needed to see her?" Sorin furiously asked him.
"No sir." Kelvin replied, with his head bowed.
"I just thought you might want to check on her well-being, sir." Kelvin continued.
"Then, you must have lost your damn mind." Sorin snapped back at him.
"Do I look like someone who cares about that girl?"
"I'm sorry, sir. It was wrong of me to bring you here without accurate confirmation of whether you wanted to go or not. I'm truly sorry sir." Kelvin apologized to his boss.
"Let this be the first and last time a mistake like this will ever occur. This must never repeat itself. I repeat, it must NEVER repeat itself!" Sorin said, giving Kelvin a note of warning.
"Alright sir. It won't repeat itself sir."
"It better not!" Sorin said under his breath.
At that moment, Kelvin's phone buzzed and he picked it up immediately.
"Yes?" He began.
"What happened?" He inquired.
"How did that happen?"
"What is the way forward"?
"Okay, keep me updated." He finally said and ended the call.
"What is the matter?" Sorin asked.
"Ehmmmm… Sir, it's….." Kelvin hesitantly began, because he didn't know how Sorin was going to react to the news but he knew he had no choice but to continue speaking because he knew well that Sorin didn't like to be kept waiting, especially in the middle of a seemingly important conversation."
"It's Mrs Andrea, sir." He finally said.
"And?" Sorin asked, rather indifferently.
"Information reaching me now, states that she is in a critical state and they think she might have lost her memory and they want to carry out series of test and examinations on her to confirm their speculations. I don't know the full details, sir." Kevin explained to Sorin.
"Good for her, then." Sorin said, not showing the slightest bit of concern which made Kelvin shocked.
He couldn't believe his ears. This wasn't something new but he felt since I was already married to Sorin, things might have changed a little bit. He knew Sorin could be very rash and fierce but deep down, he had a heart of Gold, which was why, at that moment, he couldn't really understand why he was acting the way he was.
"Something must have happened at Miss Daisy's house. That's the most plausible excuse for the way boss has been acting since we left her house." Kelvin thought to himself.
"Should I go and check on her, sir"? He asked Sorin, hoping to get a positive response because he knew Sorin would not want to leave the car for someone he didn't care about.
"What for? Are you a Doctor?" Sorin fired back at him.
"No sir." He quickly responded.
"So what are you going there for?" He questioned Kelvin.
"To see a girl that's at the verge of going completely crazy? Is that what you want to do?" He added.
I would never be a party to any of that rubbish and I do not want to be angry. Don't push me, Kelvin. Do not!" He finalized, with a inch of anger in his tone.
"I'm sorry, sir." He said, trying not to make Sorin angry any further.
"Leave this place this minute, I do not have time for any of these nonsense talks."
Kelvin immediately started the car engine and began to drive the car but as they began to approach the gate, they heard a loud alarm coming from the Accident and Emergency building but they paid no attention to it because it was a usual thing at the hospital.
The loud noise from the alarm only rang when there was an emergency that needed to be attended to immediately.
In few minutes they were at the large hospital's gate but as they were driving out, an ambulance drove with full speed into the hospital's premises.
"I wonder who that could be." Kelvin thought to himself.
Through the car's mirror, they could see the ambulance halting in front of the VIP Accident and Emergency Building entrance and numerous doctors and nurses flooded out with strollers to accept the victims and move them into the emergency room.
"Who could that have been?" Sorin said, under his breath but it was loud enough for Kelvin to hear.
"I don't know sir but judging by the number of doctors and nurses out there, I think the person might be a very important person." Kelvin replied while Sorin nodded his head in agreement.
As the car drove further onto the main road, the view of the hospital disappeared and they could no longer see anything.
Just twenty minutes away from the hospital, Kelvin's phone buzzed again and he accepted the call using his handsfree device.
"Yes?" He said as he picked.
"Sir, There's an emergency." The person on the other end of the call said with his voice shaking as he spoke.
"What is it? Is it the Mrs?" Kelvin questioned him, trying to make him go straight to the point.
"There's been a fatal accident, sir". He said again, after which he continued and immediately Kelvin screamed.
"What?!" Kelvin screamed and pressed the brakes all of a sudden, making the tires screech, as he swerved left and right, trying to find a balance in the middle of the road and also trying to avoid colliding with other cars.
The car finally stopped and Sorin shouted at Kelvin.
"Have you lost your fucking mind? Are you trying to get us both killed?" He angrily spoke to Kelvin.
"Sir, there is a huge problem. There's been a serious car accident and it's a matter of life or death."
