"Number 1..."

Alaric raised a finger.

"Before I give you the fridge and any partnership toward it, you must agree to sign the contract for the mining sales taking place in your viscounty."

Olsen remained calm. "And what is the second one?" he asked.

"Well..." Alaric rubbed his hands gently, a weird smile on his face. "I simply wish for you to agree to partner with me if I ever invent any more inventions."

"..."

There was silence, yet the contemplating expression on the Viscount's face was as loud as it could ever be.

Even Ava, standing to the side of the room, could tell. Throughout the entire event, she had been carefully observing everything that happened.

'Please don't do anything that will get us killed,' Ava silently pleaded every time Alaric spoke.

To her surprise, he was handling the meeting far better than she ever expected.
