Capítulo 24: Divided Loyalties

The hidden doorway led to a labyrinth of tunnels, each one darker and colder than the last. The air was heavy, carrying a faint metallic tang that made every breath feel like a struggle. Mia led the way, her steps guided by the whispers that had become a constant presence in her mind. 

Behind her, Zoe stayed close, her knife gripped tightly. Caleb and Ruby followed, their weapons at the ready, while Finn brought up the rear, muttering curses under his breath. 

"How much farther, Mia?" Caleb asked, his voice low but urgent. 

Mia shook her head. "I don't know. But the whispers—they're getting louder. We're close." 

"Great," Finn muttered. "Let's just hope 'close' doesn't mean closer to our deaths." 

The group reached a fork in the tunnels, the path splitting into two identical passages. Ruby stepped forward, her sharp gaze scanning the walls for any clues. 

"We'll split up," she said finally.
