Capítulo 12: The Headmaster

As Theos wandered through the academy, still digesting his unexpected encounter with Megi, he heard a familiar voice call out from behind him.

"There you are," Token said, appearing from a hallway. He held out a piece of parchment with Theos's name at the top in elegant script. "This is your schedule. Classes begin tomorrow."

Theos took it, glancing over the list of subjects and instructors. Before he could look through it in detail, a soft chime echoed through the corridor, and a hushed voice murmured from nowhere, "Theos, please report to the Headmaster's office."

Theos sat in the headmaster's office, a grand, dimly lit room with walls lined by towering bookshelves and ancient scrolls. The air felt dense, charged with a faint hum of power. Just as the door clicked shut behind him, he felt an odd tingle run down his spine, his instincts flaring up.

Before he could think, his hand shot to his dagger, fingers wrapping around the hilt as his Blue Primal energy flickered to life. The familiar glow of his aura bloomed around him, its sharp edge ready to defend.

"Ah," the headmaster's voice came, calm and slightly amused. "Instincts intact, I see."

Theos blinked, coming back to himself. He quickly released his grip on the dagger, his aura fading as he looked across the room at the headmaster. A tall, robed figure with piercing, insightful eyes, the headmaster studied Theos with a look of both curiosity and expectation.

"My apologies," Theos muttered, feeling a slight flush of embarrassment.

"No need for apologies. In this place, vigilance is no crime," the headmaster said, his tone almost approving. "I've called you here to give you an orientation of sorts—a rundown of the academy's top students, your professors, and a unique opportunity. You've arrived later than most students, so you're being offered an accelerated path."

Theos's interest piqued. He stood straighter, listening intently. Theos eased, still slightly on edge but listening intently as the headmaster began

"I wanted to give you a rundown of some of the academy's more… unique students. Some of them are likely to challenge you, others might surprise you. Either way, it's best you know them by reputation—after all, these aren't the kind to go unnoticed."

The headmaster paced slowly, hands behind his back, and spoke as if recounting legends.

First among them is The Reaper, a student whose affinity for Shadow gives him command over darkness itself. In his hands, shadows transform into scythes, chains, and shrouds, weaving around him in disorienting patterns that make it nearly impossible for enemies to track his true form. The Reaper's presence alone sends shivers down spines, as he becomes a living specter on the battlefield, his strikes hitting with ruthless precision.

At his side is His Book of Death, a name that strikes fear not because of brute power but because of his uncanny insight into decay and weakness. His ability, Decay Insight, grants him a chilling perceptiveness, allowing him to see the natural flaws and hidden vulnerabilities in everything he observes, from armor to magical barriers. With just a glance, he can discern the hidden fault lines in opponents' defenses, guiding the Reaper's attacks to their most devastating effect. The synergy between these two is unmatched, as they work seamlessly: while the Reaper cloaks them in darkness, His Book of Death targets each strike with surgical precision. Your defeat is already pln

Then there's The Ant Who Tamed Wolves, a student who may look unassuming at first but has earned their reputation through sheer grit and unexpected skill. Known for facing off against students far stronger than him, this "Ant" repeatedly defies expectations, defeating opponents through agility, clever tactics, and his uncanny affinity for Wind. His dexterity allows him to evade attacks with ease, striking in precise moments that leave foes in awe, and he often outsmarts his opponents with cunning strategies they can't anticipate.

Another famed student is The Echo of Oblivion, a master of Sound who can manipulate vibrations, allowing him to attack and defend through resonant force. His ability is both disorienting and powerful, with strikes that bypass armor and barriers by targeting internal weaknesses directly. In combat, his every step is a symphony of reverberations, his presence overwhelming as he amplifies sound to a weaponized level, turning silence into an oppressive atmosphere where even the faintest sound can be deadly.

Finally, The Blazing Viper, a fire-wielding prodigy, rounds out the Top Five. Her affinity for Fire manifests in a unique, serpentine form, her flames twisting and coiling around her like a living creature. In battle, her movements are swift and serpentine, her attacks devastating yet precise. Her flames are rumored to be so intense that they can sear through magical barriers, and her ruthless precision in battle has earned her both fear and admiration.

These five students are known throughout the academy not just for their raw power but for the unique ways in which they wield their gifts, their titles more than earned in the eyes of their peers.

The headmaster watched Theos's reaction carefully, then placed a few papers on the desk and slid them toward him.

"Now, about your instructors and your course schedule," the headmaster said, gesturing to the documents. "Each class you take here will prepare you in a different way, not only to manage your abilities but also to face challenges beyond these walls."

Theos took the papers, his eyes moving over the names and subjects.

"Your first instructor is Professor Thalia Morgane. She leads Advanced Physical Training and Weaponry. She's disciplined, direct, and has a knack for pulling the best out of her students, whether they like it or not. She's also renowned for teaching students who go on to make names for themselves—students like The Reaper."

Theos raised an eyebrow, intrigued.

"Next," the headmaster continued, "is Professor Linden Wren. You'll find him in Applied Magical Theory. He's a bit eccentric but unmatched in his understanding of magic and its principles. You'll study alongside some of our top students, including His Book of Death, who is noted for his insight into the mechanics of decay and vulnerability."

Theos nodded, remembering the rumors he'd already heard about this elusive student.

"Primal Control and Focus will be with Master Ferris," the headmaster said. "It's his job to teach you the discipline to handle your own energy without letting it handle you. He has a reputation for being strict—if you're not prepared to push yourself, you won't last in his class."

Theos felt a pulse of anticipation, eager for the challenges ahead.

"And finally, Combat Tactics, led by Professor Kallan. He's a strategist at heart and expects his students to think beyond brute force. The Ant Who Tamed Wolves, one of our top tacticians, learned much from him. If you can impress him, you're on the right path."

After giving Theos a moment to process, the headmaster continued, "There's one more thing. Since you're joining us later in the term, you'll have the option to participate in a combat tournament next month. It's an annual event and an opportunity to showcase your skills. You can say no, of course, but if you're looking to make your mark, this would be the place to start."

Theos considered the offer, a flicker of blue energy pulsing in his gaze. "I'll think about it," he said confidently.

The headmaster nodded, satisfied. "Take your time. This academy is no easy place to navigate, but I can see you're up to the challenge. Welcome to the Academy of Mastery, Theos. I expect great things."
