It seemed that old Mrs. Horton heard their argument. Her head emerged from the window, "Brat, are you bullying your granddaughter-in-law?"

Lewis Horton's face stiffened, "No."

The old lady looked at Kiera South with half belief and half doubt, "Granddaughter-in-law, really not?"

Kiera South glanced at him with a smile that was not quite a smile, and she could see a trace of nervousness on that expressionless face.

She smiled and said, "Really not."

The man let out an almost imperceptible sigh of relief.

Old Mrs. Horton chuckled, "As long as there's no problem, that's good. Dinner is ready, why don't you come in?"

Their dinner was quite simple.

Four dishes and one soup, just enough for three people.

Only old Mrs. Horton didn't have much appetite and put down her chopsticks after a few bites.

She said wearily, "Granddaughter-in-law, I'm tired, let's go home."

Kiera South advised her, "Don't push yourself, you should rest at home tonight."
