Chapter 7: The Dream Takes Shape
After a month of relentless hard work, Suraj finally leaned back in his chair and stared at the completed script in front of him. Bloody Commando—the story that had haunted his dreams night after night—was now fully written, every scene, every line of dialogue brought to life on paper. He let out a long breath of relief, a sense of accomplishment swelling within him. This script wasn't just a movie to him. It was a lifeline, both for Mythic Productions and for his own creative spirit.
The next step was to bring this story to the people who could help make it a reality—his production company. It was time for a discussion. Suraj had worked hard to revise every detail, imagining how the film would look, sound, and feel. But there was one thing he knew for sure: He had to be the one to direct it.
The thought of standing behind the camera, giving instructions, and shaping every scene felt surreal. In his previous life, directing had always been a distant dream, something that had slipped through his fingers no matter how hard he had tried. Despite his knowledge, his skills, and his passion, he never got the opportunity. But this time, things were different. This time, he was in charge.
The morning sun filtered through the windows of Mythic Productions as Suraj entered the office, the completed script clutched in his hand. The familiar faces of the staff greeted him—people who had worked with his parents for years and watched the company struggle through its most difficult times. There was a sense of tension in the air, the weight of the company's recent failures hanging heavy.
Kunal, his father's best friend and a long-time supporter of the family business, was already waiting in the conference room. As Suraj stepped in, Kunal gave him a questioning look. It was clear that Kunal still wasn't entirely convinced about Suraj's sudden transformation. He had seen the young man go through stress and exhaustion before, and while he was pleased to see Suraj more focused and calmer lately, the financial situation of the company was still precarious.
"Suraj," Kunal said, gesturing for him to sit, "I heard you've finished your script."
"Yes, Uncle," Suraj said, taking a seat and sliding the script across the table. "This is it. Bloody Commando. It's an action-thriller, and I believe it's exactly what we need to bring Mythic Productions back on track."
Kunal picked up the script, flipping through the pages. As he read, his expression shifted from curiosity to surprise. The story was bold, full of raw emotion and intensity. It wasn't the type of film that Mythic Productions usually produced, but there was no denying the potential it had to make an impact.
"This is... ambitious, Suraj," Kunal said, glancing up from the script. "But we're still in a difficult position financially. We only have the budget to fund two more movies. We need to make sure this is a hit, or the company might not survive."
Suraj nodded. He had expected this. "I understand, Uncle. But I've put everything into this story. I believe in it. And more than that—I want to direct it."
Kunal raised an eyebrow. "Direct? Suraj, directing is not easy. It's one thing to write a great script, but directing a full-scale production is something else entirely. Are you sure about this?"
Suraj took a deep breath, meeting Kunal's gaze with unwavering determination. "No one knows this story better than I do. I've envisioned every scene, every line. I know how it needs to be told. And this—" he gestured to the script, "—this is my chance. I've waited for this opportunity my whole life. I'm ready."
Kunal leaned back in his chair, studying the young man in front of him. Suraj wasn't the same stressed, uncertain person he had been before. There was a newfound resolve in his eyes, a quiet confidence that hadn't been there before. Still, Kunal couldn't ignore the risks. The company's future was on the line, and a single misstep could mean the end of everything.
"Suraj, I've known you since you were a kid," Kunal said slowly. "I've seen you grow up, and I know how much this means to you. But this is a huge responsibility. If we go forward with this, there's no turning back. The budget will be tight, and we'll need to make sure every rupee counts. Are you absolutely sure you're ready for this?"
Suraj nodded without hesitation. "I'm sure. I know what's at stake, but I also know what this movie can be. We can make it something incredible."
Kunal sighed, glancing down at the script once more. He could see the passion in Suraj's eyes, and it reminded him of the early days when Suraj's father had been just as driven. There was something about the way Suraj spoke, the fire in his voice, that made Kunal believe, even if just a little, that this might work.
"Alright," Kunal said at last. "But you need to be prepared. We'll need a detailed breakdown of the budget, casting, locations—everything. We can't afford any mistakes."
Suraj nodded again. He had already anticipated this. "I've got it all planned. We'll work within the budget, and I've already got some ideas for casting. We'll make this work."
Kunal gave a small, reluctant smile. "You're just like your father, you know. Stubborn as ever."
Suraj smiled back, feeling a sense of pride at the comparison. "I learned from the best."
With that, the meeting ended, and Suraj left the conference room, the weight of his decision settling in. He had done it. He had taken the first step toward directing his own film, something he had dreamed of for as long as he could remember.
As he walked through the hallways of Mythic Productions, the reality of it all began to sink in. This was his chance—a chance to not only fulfill his own dreams but to save the legacy of his parents' company. He thought back to his previous life, to all the missed opportunities and the years of struggle. None of that mattered now. What mattered was the future he was building for himself and for Aryan.
As he stepped outside, the Mumbai air hit him, filled with the familiar sounds of the bustling city. Suraj took a deep breath, feeling a sense of calm wash over him. He was finally where he needed to be. This was his moment, and he wasn't going to let it slip away.
With renewed energy, he set off to begin the next phase of his journey—turning Bloody Commando into the film that would change everything.
