When Zoe Bell got into bed after a quick wash, she smelled a light woody scent that uniquely belonged to William Hale.
William wasn't there, so she spent some time looking at her phone.
Lucas Bell had messaged her a few minutes earlier.
She called him back.
"How's the Bell family situation being handled?"
"It's okay. My brother-in-law found someone to help me, and Uncle Stone also lent a hand. It's mostly managed now, but…" Lucas was still young, he sighed, "My dad blew up when he found out I filed for bankruptcy."
"Did he scold you?"
"He knew the company couldn't be saved but still dragged his feet, refusing to lose face even if it meant suffering."
Lucas had no one else to confide in, apart from his therapist, so he could only complain to Zoe Bell for a bit.
She listened quietly, offering him a few words of comfort now and then.
"Sis, how are things at the Hale family? Are they treating you well?"
"I'm fine."
