Yang Liu stepped out of the bathroom, feeling the cool air of the room wash over her. As she made her way to the closet, she was surprised to find only dark clothing hanging in the wardrobe. I guess I'll need to buy new clothes immediately, she thought, a spark of excitement igniting within her.
Continuing her search, she rummaged through the closet until her eyes landed on a vibrant red dress. An instant smile spread across her face as she envisioned how stunning she would look in it. I should look great in this dress; after all, she and I share the same body type! The thought made her chuckle, and for a moment, she felt a rush of confidence.
After selecting the dress, she quickly changed into it, admiring her reflection before heading down the hallway. As she descended the stairs, the enticing aroma of breakfast filled the air, leading her to the dining room. There, she saw Butler Ling carefully setting the table.
Upon hearing the footsteps echoing down the stairs, Butler Ling turned to see Madame approaching. He straightened up, a look of relief washing over him.
Yang Liu's heart swelled at the sight of the delicious spread laid out before her. I should have enjoyed life more before I died, she reflected. In her previous life, she often felt guilty about indulging in good food, opting to save every penny for future travels instead.
With a wistful sigh, she murmured to herself, "What a waste of time saving so much."
Snapping back to reality, Yang Liu turned to the butler and asked, "Where is Han Wei's room?"
Butler Ling widened his eyes slightly in surprise before responding, "The young master's room is at the end of the hallway."
Yang Liu nodded her thanks and headed back up the stairs. She made her way to the end of the hallway and knocked gently on the door.
Knock, knock.
When there was no response from inside, she decided to let herself in. As the door creaked open, her eyes fell upon a beautiful boy sleeping peacefully, his mouth slightly ajar.
Yang Liu felt an overwhelming wave of affection at the sight, her heart melting at his cuteness. She hesitated, reluctant to wake him, but knew she had to.
Taking a deep breath, she knelt beside the bed and gently called out, "Han Wei, wake up. It's time to go to school."
The boy began to stir, slowly blinking open his eyes. When he saw his stepmother, a shy blush crept across his cheeks, and he looked away, embarrassed.
Yang Liu, undeterred by his reaction, continued to smile warmly at him. "Good morning, Han Wei. Do you know who I am?"
The boy nodded but remained silent, his gaze still fixed on her.
Seeing this, Yang Liu reassured him, "That's good! Today, I'll take you to school since your father is still busy with work. Do you know how to take a shower, or would you like me to help you?"
After a moment of processing what she said, Han Wei replied timidly, "I can take a shower by myself."
Yang Liu laughed, the sound light and cheerful. "Hahaha, okay! You're a big boy now. So go take your shower, and I'll find your clothes, alright?"
Han Wei nodded, encouraged by her words, and got up to head to the bathroom. Meanwhile, Yang Liu busied herself in the closet, searching for his clothes.
Unbeknownst to her, as the boy stood up and glanced back at her, his cheeks turned a deep shade of red. Is this my mother? he thought, a mixture of confusion and curiosity swirling in his mind.
He shook his head, denying the thought. No, Dad said she would only stay with us temporarily while he helped her.
Scratching his head, he whispered to himself, But I think she is really nice.
With one last look at her, he turned to enter the bathroom, feeling a sense of warmth in his heart as he pondered the unexpected kindness of his new stepmother.
