Capítulo 27: Chapter 27: Sam's POV.

 The sweet smell of cigar smoke filled the Mayor's office. I wafted the air in front of my face as soon as the man turned his back. I didn't see how he smoked those things. I hated to admit it, but Shilo was definitely right about one thing; this man really is a basket case. 

 The walk from his front door to his office consisted of nothing but him pushing his stupid agenda on me, and me agreeing to everything he said. I'd do anything to keep her safe. I hoped they were faring well in that church. 

 "So tell me, boy," The Mayor said as he snuffed out his stinky cigar. "What's the story on how my grandson met his demise?"

 I cleared my throat. The good thing about me was that lying came as a second nature to me. I put forth zero effort into it. 

 "Our paths crossed out in the woods 20 miles south from here. I had a camp set up, and they needed shelter." I walked over to the book shelf and began reading the titles in my head while I lied through my teeth.
