Capítulo 36: Chapter 36 (edited)

Faced with this sudden disaster, Kara hesitated.

If she followed her ideals and goals of becoming a superhero, knowing that disaster loomed, she would undoubtedly step forward to help those in need.

However, Kara was well aware of Jonathan's persistence. He wasn't selfish—quite the opposite. He was upright and had been a guiding figure for both Kara and Clark.

When it came to protecting the two of them, though, he was unwaveringly rigid. Kara had already guessed that Jonathan's eventual death would likely be tied to protecting their identities.

He might even choose death over exposing them, just as depicted in Man of Steel.

The car sped down the road, but the atmosphere inside was heavy with tension.

Kara's solemn expression affected the rest of the family, who quickly noticed her unease.

"Honey? What's wrong?" Martha asked, thinking Kara was worried about leaving home. "Are you afraid I won't handle you moving to Metropolis well? It's okay. As you said, I can visit you anytime."

Kara shook her head, about to explain what she had foreseen. However, at that moment, the scene ahead became clear.

"What is that?"

"Run!"

Outside, drivers abandoned their cars and fled on foot.

This was no isolated road; turning the car around wasn't an option. The only choice was to escape on foot.

Jonathan slowed the car, seeing that traffic ahead had come to a standstill. Cars were abandoned in the middle of the road, blocking the way.

The family stepped out to assess the situation.

Ahead of them, a tornado had appeared on the road, growing larger and more violent by the second. Vehicles near its edge were already being pulled in, with trapped passengers screaming in terror.

Jonathan instinctively moved to help, but Kara grabbed his arm.

He turned to her, confused.

Kara shook her head, a silent plea for him not to go.

Unaware of Kara's vision of his death, Jonathan interpreted her gesture as concern and reassured her: "Stay here with Clark and your mother. I'll go take a look."

"I'll come too!" Clark started to follow.

Jonathan stopped him. "Clark, stay back. Don't let anyone see your strength."

Clark, reluctantly obedient, stayed put, his hands clenched in frustration. He watched as Jonathan walked toward the danger.

"What are we supposed to do? Just stand here and watch?" Clark turned to Kara, his voice tinged with desperation.

Martha intervened before Kara could respond. "Listen to your dad. He'll handle it."

"No, he can't," Kara said, shaking her head. She had seen Jonathan's death.

Around them, the tornado grew fiercer. Jonathan helped several trapped people escape, urging them to run to safety.

Though he succeeded in freeing them, the grateful survivors quickly fled, leaving him behind.

Jonathan pressed on, determined to help the last person in sight. But as he turned to leave, he noticed a dog trapped in a nearby car.

Without hesitation, he approached the vehicle and began knocking on the window. The glass wouldn't break; it was too sturdy.

"Jonathan!" Martha screamed, terror etched on her face.

The tornado was closing in, threatening to sweep him away.

Clark instinctively stepped forward, ready to act, but Jonathan caught his movement and shook his head, raising a hand to stop him.

Clark froze, torn between his father's wishes and his desire to help. Years of obedience warred with his instincts.

Jonathan looked back at Kara, concern flashing in his eyes.

But Kara was no longer beside Martha.

Where had she gone?

Panic surged through Jonathan. He didn't want Kara to risk exposing her abilities for his sake.

But it was too late.

"Shhh."

Clothes fluttered to the ground as Kara shed her disguise. She removed her glasses, revealing a dark blue top, a bright red skirt, a flowing cape, and red knee-high boots.

Her golden hair shimmered in the light as she stepped forward. She couldn't let her adoptive father die.

"Whoosh."

A red-and-blue blur shot toward the tornado.

Onlookers gasped in amazement.

"Is that a bird?"

"Is it a plane?"

"No, it's Superman!"

Kara turned, her cape billowing as she hovered in front of the tornado.

But this wasn't Superman—it was her, the first female Superman.

Kara reached Jonathan in moments.

With a light tap, she shattered the car window, scooping up the terrified dog inside.

Extending her other hand toward Jonathan, she smiled.

"You shouldn't be here!" Jonathan protested.

Kara shrugged. "Sorry, Dad. I'm in my rebellious phase."

Jonathan was speechless. Who has a rebellious daughter in her thirties?

Resigned, he let her help. With one arm around Jonathan and the other holding the dog, Kara soared back toward safety.

She landed gently beside Martha, who rushed forward to embrace her husband.

Kara handed the dog to Clark and turned back toward the tornado.

"Suck."

Hovering at the center of the storm, Kara took a deep breath.

She could have inhaled the entire tornado but chose instead to blow against its force. Her super breath counteracted the winds, dispersing the storm in an instant.

The tornado disintegrated, leaving only calm skies and stunned silence.

Cheers erupted from the crowd.

"Wow!"

Kara surveyed the scene, feeling a flicker of pride. But she knew it wasn't time for Superman's full debut.

With a final wave, she shot into the sky, disappearing before anyone could follow.
