Capítulo 6: The Breach Point

Red stood in the central staging area of the enemy facility, the vast hub where all the wings converged—North, South, East, and West. The high ceilings stretched far above, casting long shadows across the room, and every sound seemed to echo in the cavernous space. The distant hiss of leaking pipes and the occasional spark of exposed electrical wiring crackled through the silence, giving the room an eerie, almost haunted feel. Red's eyes swept across the floor, which was littered with debris—broken metal, fractured pieces of the enemy's infrastructure, all scattered by the earlier destruction.

The collapse of the North wing had reshaped the battlefield entirely. The Triforian ships had done their job with precision, turning the once critical engineering bay and its access tunnel into little more than rubble. On her tactical display, Red could see that no one, enemy or ally, would be passing through that sector anymore. The enemy's forces were now corralled, forced to push through the remaining corridors in the South, East, and West wings, where her Rangers were already stationed and ready.

Adapting the plan was second nature to Red. Even though the mission parameters had shifted, she didn't miss a beat. Her eyes flicked back to her tactical display as she opened a comm line to the fleet.

"Red to Tempest. Confirming North wing collapse," she reported, her voice steady despite the tension in the air. "The tunnel to the engineering bay has been destroyed. Adapting mission parameters—I'm requesting any available Edonite drones be sent to the central staging area. We don't need them to complete the mission, but I want them here for backup."

There was a brief pause as her request was processed. Red's hand rested on the console, her fingers tapping lightly against the edge as she awaited confirmation. She knew time was running short, and every second mattered.

A voice came through. "Copy that, Red. We'll reroute whatever we can spare."

Red exhaled slowly. The Edonite drones had proven devastating in their earlier strikes—psychological weapons as much as physical ones. They didn't just rip apart ships; they shredded morale. She didn't need the drones to hold the facility, but their presence here in the staging area would provide an edge, a safety net, especially if the enemy breached deeper into their position. The thought of the enemy seeing those terrifying creatures crawling through the hallways was enough to unsettle even the most seasoned soldiers.

"Drones are en route. ETA three minutes," Aegis confirmed through the neural link.

Red gave a nod of acknowledgment, her focus already shifting back to the wider battle. The drones would arrive soon, but until then, she needed to ensure her team was holding the choke points. She connected into the neural network, reaching out to each Ranger, checking on their progress.

"Black here," came the first report. His voice was steady, calm, and precise, just like him. "Simulator rooms are secured. Minimal resistance so far."

Red mentally ticked off that sector, her confidence in Black unwavering. The simulator rooms were the most dangerous area of the facility. Inside, armed and armored combatants were always sharp, having been warmed up and ready from their live simulations. These soldiers, platforms, and even monstrous creatures trained within the simulators were equipped to handle high-stress combat environments. Securing that area was crucial—any breach there would result in an overwhelming, fully prepared enemy force. But Black had it under control for now, his reliability in high-pressure zones second to none.

Relief settled into place hearing Pink was already perched. Her snipers were focused on eliminating enemy officers, targeting the centralized command structure of the Elvanurus. Without clear leadership, the enemy's ranks would fall into chaos—like the British fighting the Americans during the nation-state era. If the commanders fell, confusion and surrender would follow.

Pink's skill with a sniper rifle was unmatched, but it was her AI, Prism, that elevated their battlefield dominance. Prism didn't just sync with Pink; she coordinated the entire network of allied snipers, ensuring their shots were precise and their timing perfect. Under Prism's direction, the snipers operated like a single organism, dismantling the enemy's leadership with calculated efficiency.

Meanwhile, Prism's auto-targeting managed the machine gun platforms surrounding the sniper nest, providing suppressive fire at every choke point. Any attempt by the enemy to advance would be met with a deadly barrage, forcing them into the open for Pink and the others to pick off.

The enemy wouldn't just be facing bullets—they'd be facing terror, unsure where the next shot would come from, their leadership falling one by one.

Red could already envision the chaos their enemies would face. The Elvanurus forces would stumble, uncoordinated, as their officers were taken out with surgical precision. Each shot would send waves of panic through the ranks, amplifying the confusion. Cripple command, create chaos, and the enemy would fall apart—that had always been her approach.

"Keep them guessing, Pink," Red murmured, turning her attention back to the broader tactical situation. Pink and Prism had their roles locked down, but the other wings still needed reinforcing. She shifted her focus to the real-time battle map, marking the movements of enemy forces.

The drones from Doomsting were minutes away from deployment. That would provide an additional layer of defense, and one she would need soon. The enemy was regrouping faster than expected, and once they realized the extent of the North wing's collapse, they would shift their assault to the remaining access points.

She keyed into the link again. "Red to Black. Status?"

Black's voice came through steady as ever. "Still holding the simulator rooms. Nothing new on the radar, but it feels like they're regrouping."

"I'm sending reinforcements to the West wing," Red replied. "Stay sharp."

The West wing, like the others, was crucial to their defense. She knew that once the enemy regrouped, they would focus on a full-frontal assault to regain control. But as long as Pink, Black, and the rest of the team held their ground, they had a chance to outmaneuver the enemy's attempts to break through.

The next few moments would be pivotal. Red's thoughts shifted to Yellow, still in the med bay, assessing the situation with the stasis pods. She hadn't heard back yet, and the silence gnawed at her. Yellow would handle it, but something about her earlier report left a sinking feeling in Red's stomach.

She forced herself to focus. The battle hadn't reached its crescendo, but the pieces were moving into place. Once the drones arrived, once the snipers began taking out command units, and once the reinforcements secured the remaining choke points, they'd have a fighting chance to hold the facility.

For now, it was a matter of waiting. And when the enemy came, they'd face a defense prepared for every move.
