Capítulo 68: Breaking the Mask

After the tiring events of my failed afternoon alone time in the garden, I had decided to retreat to my room and possibly continue my reading there or just find something else worthwhile to keep busy with. 

It was currently the best option for me at this point.

The quiet of my room was comforting, keeping me safe from the rest of the world. 

Although Bruno had tried to taint the only sanctuary I had in this house by installing a security camera in my room, I've been able to get over it by absolutely not caring.

I took a deep breath, focusing on the simple task in front of me—straightening the sheets, smoothing out the wrinkles in the bedspread. 

It was something my new maid, Rosa, had already started, but I felt a need to finish it myself. 

Maybe it was a way to ground myself, to clear my mind of the endless spiral of emotions that haunted me since… since the last maid's death.
