Capítulo 45: Unspoken Plea

I had barely been given a moment to compose and regain myself before Bruno's men escorted me back into the main mansion.

They had already been given orders by Bruno to kill Marcy if she proved to be too stubborn for me to handle and I was terrified that I wouldn't be able to contain the situation.

I knew exactly how Marcy could be when she was worried about someone and I hoped that she would easily believe me when I reassure that I'm alright.

My skin still tingled from the hurried shower Bruno had ordered for me, and the dress they'd chosen felt like a costume—a flimsy attempt to make me look presentable, to mask the cracks in my spirit. 

I drew in a slow breath, desperately trying to steady my heartbeat as we got closer the sitting room with each step. 

This was it; my chance to shield Marcy from Bruno's world. I don't know if I'll be able to forgive myself if I was the cause of her loosing her life tonight.
