It felt like the entire world had come to a standstill as I listened to the words being spoken by my parents. My family had just finalized the documents needed for me to become the new wife of the Alfonzo family, a notoriously dangerous Mafia family in New York.
I could feel my heartbeat increasing by the second while I sat down on the bed in the room of our last mansion which my father stood the chance of loosing if he didn't repay his debts. Apparently, his solution he and my mother had discovered in other to keep their material possessions was to sell me to the son of a family whose activities were not secret to anyone.
The Alfonzo family were known for being on top of all other Mafia families in New York and environs. They controlled most of the drugs which entered the country, at large, and their wealth was humongous. It wasn't surprising that they had power over my own family, after all, they were not just normal people whom you could see walking on the streets. Children from this family dined with kings and they had billions nestling peacefully in each of their accounts.
The stories and rumours I've heard of that family was enough to bring chills across my body. I didn't want to have anything to do with that family and now I had no other choice than to do as my selfish materialistic parents have ordered.
"Please you have to understand," I began as tears fell from my eyes and landed on my cheeks. "I don't want to get married to anyone from that family, most especially the first son."
My parents ignored my teary eyes and merely shook their heads in disgust. They had expected me to follow their orders like an obedient dog, but what they didn't know was that they were practically leading me into the arms of a family of murderers and drug Lords.
"Why do you talk like this?" My father asked with anger evident in his voice. "After everything we've done for you, we expect you to do as we say, no questions asked."
I shook my head as I tried my best to hold back the tears that were threatening to break through and envelope me in a a stream of complete sorrow.
"I appreciate everything you've done for me, papa, but I cannot allow myself to be signed over in a contract to that family" I argued. I wasn't going to go down without a fight.
"What do you mean?" My father asked as if he didn't already know the stories being spread around town.
"I've heard what Bruno Alfonzo does to his women. He treats them like sex slaves and when he's done with them, they are discarded like rags into the streets with one mental issue or another. Do you want to subject me to such an ordeal by marrying me off to a man like that?" I asked my parents as my eyes moved between them simultaneously.
Neither of them could answer my question because they knew I was telling the truth. Bruno Alfonzo isn't a normal man whom fathers give their only daughters to for marriage and it hurt me incredibly that my father was doing this to me.
Although I have never actually seen how Bruno looks like, the stories I've heard about him are enough for me to detest his entire being. The hatred I have for him knows no bounds and it would be a cold day in hell if my parents ever think I'll agree to marrying such a monster.
"You are making so much noise" my mother who had been quiet said as a frown appeared on her face. It was obvious she wasn't enjoying my complaints. "You should be thanking us for finding you such a man who has enough money to take care of you. You should be on your knees showing us your appreciation."
I couldn't believe my own mother was saying such words to me. My hands tightened into fists by my side and I submitted to the tears continuously leaving my eyes.
"I don't even love him. How do you expect me to marry a man whom I don't love?" I asked angrily, the tone of my voice not failing to show my intense emotions.
"Love? Who needs love?" My mother scoffed as she rolled her eyes. "I didn't need love when I married your father, but I did it because of the financial freedom. That was until he lost everything to his constant gambling and dealings with the Alfonzo family."
I stared at my father and I could see that he was not going to budge from his decision.
It was official, I was being sold and contracted to get married to Bruno Alfonzo, a monster whose influence rivaled even kings.
I stood up from the bed and quickly walked out of the room into the hallway where I could hear the musicians playing happily on their instruments for the guests downstairs. If only they knew the sorrow and despair I was presently going through.
As I walked down the hall, hoping to clear my mind of the torment I was being put through. The fact that my parents had no problem whatsoever to sell me off to such family caused my entire body to ache in pain. It felt like my world was coming to an end.
"Fuck!, I know you like that"
My mind tore away from its cage of grief as I listened to the moans and groans coming from a room not too far from where I was. Curiosity came over me and I moved closer to find out who or what was making such sounds of pleasure.
I stared into the room of a slightly opened door. I could see the bent waist of a woman and the chiseled muscular body of a man hunched over her as his hips swayed in professional swings. It was clear from the way the wan was screaming that she was being taken into heaven and back.
I could feel my body heat up in that moment as I registered the man's handsome face and irresistible muscular body which was glistering with sweat.
I didn't know why but I wanted him to claim me too, to take me into the world of pleasure as he was doing to the woman on the bed with him. I wanted his muscular arms to warp me in their ecstasy while I scream in delight.
"Enjoying the show?"
Before I could fully comprehend what was happening, my eyes met with the man's and he smiled at me. It was an invitation and I wanted to take it.
