"When I married you, I asked you to love and cherish me. To protect me from all harm. Arrogan! Are you worth of me? Of me saving you? For her? She said she saved you, said the bracelet is hers and you like a clown believed it! I carried your child, I helped you get—" Her heartbreaking words hung in the air as she knelt before him, tears cascading down her cheeks and staining her face. The man's expression twisted in anger. "Shut up!" he bellowed, leaning in closer, his sneer voice dripping with disdain.
"You think you can be compared to her? She is my saviour. You couldn't even remember when I asked you. I chased you in school, relentlessly pursuing you! Even when I caught you with other men, I believed you!" Au Arrogan felt disgusted as he looked down at the woman on her knees with the small child. Clutching their small child. He adamantly refused to acknowledge the child as his own, convinced that she had betrayed him with that young master, someone he had seen her with on numerous occasions. "Storyia! You claim to be a Confessions, but you are unworthy! Confessions never had a mixed-race child, not even the old woman you harmed! You are unworthy of my love and my trust. Sign the papers I've asked you to countless times, and yet you have stubbornly refused. Sign them." He hurled the papers at the trembling woman, who was desperately holding the child close to her. Her fragile form and pleading eyes , filled with desperation and sorrow, did nothing to sway his hardened heart as he turned away from her, determined to meet his beloved.
A metallic taste lingered heavily in Au Arrogan's mouth, an unsettling reminder of his current turmoil; his throat itched with an uncomfortable sensation, and deep within his chest, his heart ached with regret and sorrow. He struggled to fully comprehend how he could have so resolutely abandoned his wife, leaving her behind without a second thought or glance. Was this painful realization the reason she seemed to reject him at every chance, every opportunity? And their child, their daughter, how could h—
He wanted to roar in pain but knew it would only upset him more and worry her.
The fishy taste in his throat burgeoned once again, but Au Arrogan steeled himself in a resolute manner and pressed on.
Another memory rose suddenly, bombarding him who had barely had himself under control.
"Our daughter is dying. I can't afford to save her. Please help me this once, I beg you please save her!" The woman was thin, dirty, and reeked of neglect.
The world had endured two major natural disasters, leaving hundreds of millions suffering, including a child from a woman he despised, whom he would never acknowledge. As he tried to walk past, she reached out to him, but he dodged to the side face riddled with undisguised disgust. At that moment, another woman approached, her swollen belly unmistakable. She wore a simple yet elegant outfit, unadorned and clean, emphasizing her naturally stunning facial features that were completely bare of any makeup. This presented a sharp contrast to the dishevelled woman kneeling nearby, whose appearance was far from pristine. The filthy woman's gaze was fixated on the newcomer, her eyes locked with an intense focus that revealed both curious and desperation. As she studied the newcomer, the sight caused the kneeling woman to become momentarily frozen in place. Her eyes widened with a mix of emotions as she took in the scene before her, the flicker of hope in her expression beginning to waver, before turning into disbelief.
"Honey, why are you here still? Help the beggar, the world is hard."
"No need, come you must get in so the child is not affected."
"Honey, you are so good to me."
"I will always be good to you."
The man and woman walked side by side, their footsteps echoing softly against the pavement, completely unaware of the turmoil brewing just behind them. The woman, lost in a haze of despair that clouded her mind, was oblivious to the faint, desperate cry of the small child trailing behind her. Her thoughts were consumed by her worries, drowning out the sounds of the world around her.
Without warning, the woman suddenly turned, her heart racing as she stumbled forward, panic gripping her. "Yi-Yi, don't come closer!" she shouted, her voice laced with urgency and fear.
"Mama," the child cried weakly, the sound barely escaping her lips. The woman's heart sank, filled with an overwhelming fear that propelled her forward in a frantic rush. But time was not on her side. A speeding vehicle approached swiftly from the left, its tires screeching against the asphalt, unable to halt in time to prevent the impending disaster. In a horrifying instant, the vehicle struck the small child, and the impact was devastating. The force of the collision sent the child flying through the air, her anguished cry piercing the sudden silence of the moment, a haunting sound that echoed in the air. However, that cry was abruptly silenced by the sickening thud of another crash, leaving a chilling stillness in its wake.
The man, startled by the noise, felt a surge of instinctual dread and wanted to turn around, to understand what had just happened. But the woman beside him, sensing his hesitation, tightly grasped his hand, "Honey, my stomach feels uncomfortable,She whispered with a pained expression, with an urgency that belied the horror unfolding just behind them. The man dismissed the noise, while the woman glanced back with a half-smile as they pressed on.
Unaware of the tragedy that had just unfolded, they continued, the weight of the moment heavy in the surrounding air.
Seeing the future, Au Arrogan rushed to the bathroom and coughed up a mouthful of blood onto the floor. That bitch knew, but that version of him was such a fool! He looked up at the ceiling. Au Arrogan coughed up blood and fainted. Memories overwhelmed him until he suddenly awoke a few hours later, feeling refreshed, though his heart ached.
A little mental torture for our first male lead.Hehe
Au Arrogan felt murderous. He could not believe that he was such a person. Looking out the floor to ceiling window, Au Arrogan had many thoughts in his mind, most questions.
Who were these women?
Why would his wife who was so independent and strong, suffer so?
On a sinking island, she saved him despite her own suffering.
Au Arrogan realized that if she hadn't rescued him, she wouldn't have lost her parents.
In his mind, he believed she was his destined soulmate, the one meant for him, with her soft and soothing voice pulling him back from the very brink of death, offering him a glimmer of hope when he felt completely lost. What person would not be in love? He could never forget that day even twenty years later.Storyia Confessions had given him water. Her hands were dirty, and the ground was wet from two weeks of rain, leaving many areas on the island flooded. Those who had been with him had all drowned, and his father and stepmother were missing. After saying a few words, she ran off; he thought she had left, but she soon returned with others who ensured he had no serious injuries before taking him away. Au Arrogan passed out and woke up clean, lying on a soft bed, allowing him time to think.
He was extremely intelligent and quickly understood his feelings and what he desired if he survived.
"The island! Grand Fe, oh my god, master and madam!"
"It's fine; their daughter is safe. She saved that boy… sigh."
"Grand Fe, if she hadn't saved him—"
"It is fate. Check on him. She will be worried…"
Au Arrogan fell heavily on his knees. He repaid her for all the love and trust she had given by taking advantage of her deep feelings, allowing her to bring their child into the world, and then abandoning both her and their child for the affections of someone else. "Ahhh," As a result, his heart felt utterly crushed under the weight of his choices, "Ahhh," his mind was plagued with torment and regret over what he had done.
A hand beat at his chest, his heart felt as if it was being tightly squeezed by an invisible hand, his mind was pierced by countless needles. "Ahhh," Arrogan fell forward on his hands continually slapping the floor ignoring the blood that appeared, the tearing of flesh before it healed each time.
No wonder she called him a dog man—was it a fair label? He had not been loyal to her. On an island that was slowly sinking into despair, she bravely saved him despite enduring her own deep suffering and pain.
His father didn't pick him up; instead, it was the old lady, Fe. The little girl he saw was dirty and covered in ash.
He struggled to bring her features to mind, unable to recall the details of her complexion, yet he was certain that she was unlike anyone he had ever encountered before. The only thing that lingered in his thoughts was the bracelet, a striking piece that the old lady Fe had mentioned to that person.
It was burned it his memory because it was the first thing he saw when she offered him water.
Au Arrogan lay there, his forehead pressed firmly against the ground, as the relentless waves of memories crashed over him, intertwining in a never-ending cycle of torment. Tears streamed down his face, mingling with the anguish that consumed him. "This is my punishment, isn't it?" he bellowed into the emptiness around him. "I have sinned in countless timelines, given numerous opportunities to redeem myself, yet I have failed time and time again!" Anyone who happened to overhear Au Arrogan's outburst might have deemed him insane, but only he understood that he was directing his words at whatever unseen force had shaped him into the person he had become. So many lives and all a failure, the memories forced upon him. He did not want it!
"Do you honestly believe I wanted to leave my wife behind? To forsake my child? To part with the bracelet that was a cherished gift from her?!" He kept his head bowed low, but his frustrations poured out in a torrent. "This world—" Au Arrogan found himself unable to finish his thought, the weight of his despair suffocating his voice.
Au Arrogan struggled to rise, lifting his head trying to focus on the moon that hung high in the dark sky—its surface slightly tinged with a haunting shade of red, an omen perhaps. Memories flooded his mind once again, this one achingly beautiful. "I am pregnant. We will have a baby."
"Wife!" He cried out at the memory. A Wave of joy surged through him in that moment, but it was quickly eclipsed by the deep, throbbing pain that gripped his body now. With a sudden violent motion, another mouthful of blood erupted from his lips, spilling forth like a jagged reminder of his current state. He had long since surrendered to defeat, his spirit crushed under the weight of his suffering. Au Arrogan, overwhelmed by the mixture of emotions within him, covered his face in anguish, threw his head back, and released a muffled roar that echoed in the silence, slowly unfurling his powerful frame to its full, imposing height.
His vision became a haze of colors, blurred and disorienting, feeling both agitated and weak. "No," he silently denied, shaking his head sharply in denial, refusing to accept the reality of his circumstances. "I can't—will not allow such mistakes to—" Au Arrogan growled low in his throat, memories rising up unbidden as he recalled the treachery of that woman and how he, in his naivete, had believed her deceitful false truths. He wanted to drown once again in his dark emotions, but he could not. His wife will wake soon and he must get ahold of himself.
Regardless, he knew that the woman would pay for her betrayal, but it was too soon to act on that instinct. She will pay, but it is too early to do anything now, unsure of what means she had used before.
I almost pitied Au Arrogan here.
The songs below go well with this chapter.
