Such a heavy night it became as I stood there, staring hard at that tiny phone in my hand, then my thoughts racing and racing about that cryptic message. What could anyone possibly have to hold against Jonathan? Was it a trap? A trick? My heart throbbed in the chest, but I knew that I had no other choice than to go. Tomorrow, I would be meeting this mysterious contact at Langston Tower. But part of me feared what I might eventually find.

I couldn't shake off this creeping unease while getting ready for the day. Jonathan had gone out already and I hadn't seen him since his stormy outing the night before. This is how quiet the house was as I walked about alone inside my head. Suddenly, visions of Isabella's backside on Jonathan's lap were flashing in my mind. I felt like a pawn in whatever game he was playing.
