The air was tense, the cold from outside now seemed insignificant compared to the chaotic scene unfolding before Alex's eyes. The growls and howls of his animals echoed through the monitor, while the enormous beast continued to resist. The grotesque, gaping wounds on its body revealed raw flesh, but the bear showed no signs of stopping. If there was anything in the creature's red eyes, it was a deep, primal hatred, a rage driving it to destroy everything in its path, regardless of the pain or consequences.
Alex watched Yuki rise, limping after the brutal blow that had thrown him through the air. Alex's heart clenched in his chest. He knew he couldn't afford more losses, but the fight was not in their favor. Every second that passed, the monster became more unpredictable, and his animals' attacks grew increasingly desperate.
With clenched fists, Alex raised his voice toward Ariel. "Ariel, do you think the guys can make it out of this fight without more casualties?" His eyes remained fixed on the screen, where the three dinosaurs, led by Vela, coordinated their attacks, dodging swiftly while delivering bites and scratches, trying to keep the bear at bay.
There was no response from Ariel at first, only increasing Alex's frustration. "Ariel," he repeated, this time more firmly, "I'm asking you a question."
Finally, Ariel responded coldly: "Based on current data, I cannot provide a conclusive answer. The danger is high. Although they've managed to contain the bear for now, its skin and flesh are thicker than expected. Despite the injuries it has sustained, the pain doesn't seem to affect it significantly."
Alex gritted his teeth, watching as his animals narrowly avoided the monster's claws. Every swipe from the bear was devastating, even when it missed, the impact waves seemed to shake the ground. "We can't keep going like this," he muttered to himself, thinking of a way to stop it.
On the screen, Rex and Duke worked together, attacking from the sides while Bear tried to divert the bear's attention, but the monster kept swiping at the air, its overflowing rage uncontained. Max and Vela attacked from behind, biting and tearing, but each wound seemed useless against the beast.
Alex had to make a decision. "Ariel," he said more decisively, "the bear is incredibly tough, but like any other animal, its brain should be vulnerable to electric shocks, right?"
Ariel, understanding what Alex was suggesting, immediately responded. "The premise is correct. However, you would need to be close enough for an effective shock to reach its brain. Any attempt to approach under these circumstances is extremely dangerous. The probability of success is low, and the risk of death is high."
"I don't have to get close," Alex said, a spark of hope lighting up in his mind. "We still have… that."
Ariel hesitated before responding. "I do not recommend using it under these conditions. The system is still in development and is not optimized for this type of situation."
"I don't care," Alex replied urgently as he began to move, his eyes filled with determination. "It's our only chance! We don't have any other option, and at least it's something."
Ariel was silent for a moment, evaluating Alex's words. Finally, she relented. "Very well. I will prepare the equipment. I suggest you proceed with caution."
Wasting no more time, Alex ran toward one of the many facilities on the farm, his mind focused on his plan. He knew the decision he had just made was dangerous, but he couldn't let his companions die. It was his responsibility to protect them, at any cost.
Meanwhile, the battle outside continued. Vela and the other dinosaurs moved in perfect harmony, attacking and retreating in a constant cycle, while the dogs, now tired but determined, worked together to keep the bear cornered. Rex, the pack leader, attacked directly at the bear's legs, trying to destabilize it while Max and Duke attacked from the sides. Bear, larger and stronger, used his size to push the monster, trying to keep it away from the farm.
But the bear kept resisting. Each blow it received seemed to fuel its rage even more. Though its body was covered in wounds and its flesh hung in places, the creature kept advancing, ignoring the pain. Vela leaped onto its back, digging her claws deep into the bear's skin while one of the other dinosaurs bit at its neck. But the monster simply roared and spun violently, throwing Vela to the ground with a crash. The dinosaur quickly got up, but Alex could see she was starting to tire.
Yuki, still limping from the earlier injury, joined the other dogs in a desperate attempt to bring the bear down. Together, they bit and scratched, but the monster was relentless, violently shaking them off and flinging the animals away with each swipe of its claws.
Despite the wounds and exhaustion, the eight animals continued fighting, moving with an almost perfect coordination. Rex and Vela led the attacks, while the others focused on keeping the bear trapped, seizing any opportunity to strike.
The battle had turned into a war of attrition. Both sides were reaching their limits, but the bear, driven by an almost irrational fury, kept fighting without showing signs of weakness. Its torn skin and open wounds didn't seem to matter. Its sole mission was to destroy everything in its path, and it wouldn't stop until it succeeded.
Alex hurried into the workshop, wasting no time. The first thing he saw was the glove, or rather, the arm armor that Ariel had developed to extend his electric ability. It rested on a metal table, shining under the artificial light. The glove wasn't just any piece; it covered his hand and extended up to his elbow. It seemed to be made of steel, with multiple hinges allowing fluid movement of the wrist and fingers. But it wasn't just metal. Feathers were embedded in certain parts of the design, along with a series of thin conduits resembling dark veins. The sight was as fascinating as it was unsettling.
Alex approached and, without thinking much, slid his arm inside the glove. As soon as his hand entered the device, a sigh of resignation escaped his lips. A strange sensation invaded his skin, as if hundreds of tiny threads were moving and intertwining around his fingers, palm, and arm. It was a sensation he knew all too well, but never got used to.
"Micelia," he murmured, his voice heavy with disgust as he felt the invisible filaments tighten against his skin.
Ariel intervened, her tone still practical but with a hint of warning. "Those micelia are essential for the device to function properly, Alex. The glove needs to be in direct contact with your skin to amplify the electrical transmission of your ability. This connection will allow the currents to flow with more intensity, but I must insist: I do not recommend using it in this situation."
Alex rushed into the workshop, his steps echoing on the metallic floor. His gaze immediately landed on the glove, a sort of improvised armor that covered his hand and arm up to the elbow. The device, designed by Ariel, wasn't just a piece of metal; it was covered in feathers and conduits that seemed more alive than mechanical. Without hesitation, he grabbed it and slid it onto his arm.
The glove fit, but instantly Alex felt the strange, familiar sensation of the micelia wrapping around his skin, spreading all over his arm like tiny threads compressing him. It was something he never got used to.
"I'll never get used to this," Alex muttered with a grimace as he felt the micelia activate.
"The micelia need as much contact with your skin as possible for the device to work," Ariel explained, leaving no room for argument. "They're designed to respond to the electrical signals from your body, allowing you to channel your ability more efficiently. But I don't recommend using it right now. It's not ready."
Alex scoffed, adjusting the glove. "I don't have a choice, Ariel. You know we don't have time to test this any other way."
Ariel didn't respond, but Alex could feel the weight of her disapproval. The AI had warned several times that the device was in the testing phase and using it in such a critical situation was a desperate measure. But Alex had already made his decision. If there was even the slightest chance of saving Vela and the other animals, he was going to take it.
With the glove secured, Alex grabbed several vials of Omega supplement from a nearby shelf. The reddish liquid with greenish tones inside the vials vibrated slightly with his movement, as if it contained life of its own. He stored them in his belt and hurried out of the workshop.
The cold greeted him with a brutal bite. The snow crunched under his feet, and the icy air hit his face, but none of that mattered at the moment. In the distance, the growls and roars of the battle rumbled like thunder, echoing across the snow-covered landscape. Alex ran, his breath coming in short bursts, not just from physical exertion but from the growing sense of helplessness overwhelming him.
When he reached the top of a small hill, he saw the scene he had feared. A few meters away, the battlefield unfolded before him. The enormous five-meter-tall bear was a grotesque beast, with torn skin and exposed flesh. Its body was covered in scars and open wounds that seemed unable to stop it. The bear's eyes were red, as if hatred and rage themselves were fueling them. Every move it made was brutal, a blind fury directed at anything that moved.
In front of it, Vela, Roka, and Suri, the three dinosaur-chickens, moved with agility despite their size. Vela, standing three meters tall, was the largest of the three and the undisputed leader of
the group. Her feathers bristled every time she dodged one of the bear's swipes, but even she, as powerful as she was, seemed to struggle to keep up. Her movements were quick, agile, but the size difference between her and the bear was overwhelming.
Roka and Suri, smaller but just as fierce, attacked from the flanks, launching themselves at the bear with precision. Roka, with his dark plumage and sharp claws, managed to tear the bear's flesh, but each wound they inflicted seemed insignificant compared to the monster before them. Suri, with her white fur and quick movements, bit and clawed, but the bear barely reacted to their attacks.
Behind the dinosaurs, the five dogs were coordinated in a constant assault. Rex, the Belgian Malinois, led the group, running in circles, looking for the best angle to attack. Bear, the Saint Bernard, used his enormous strength to ram into the bear whenever he got the chance. Max, the Border Collie, was as fast as lightning, dodging blows while trying to bite at the bear's legs. Duke, the Doberman, and Yuki, the Akita Inu, lunged with force, but even their sharp teeth seemed to do little against the beast's thick hide.
The battle was controlled chaos. Alex's animals moved in coordination, attacking in waves, but for every hit they landed, the bear returned with a far more devastating blow. Alex watched as Roka tried to leap onto the bear's back, only to be thrown down by a violent swing from the monster. Roka's body was hurled against a tree, and Alex screamed, fearing the worst.
Vela roared, a guttural sound that reverberated through the air. She leaped at the bear, clawing at its side with all her might, but the bear simply turned and pushed her away with brutal force, sending her crashing into the snow, panting.
Alex clenched his fists as he watched his friends fight with everything they had, but he knew it wasn't enough. The bear, despite the wounds and blows, kept advancing like an unstoppable force. Even the open wounds left by the dinosaurs and dogs seemed not to matter. The monster kept attacking, as if pain meant nothing to it.
Barely a few meters separated Alex from the battle, and he felt his own helplessness growing with every passing second. Yuki, the Akita Inu, was visibly limping, wounded in one of his hind legs. Vela, her feathers covered in blood, could barely stay on her feet. The situation was critical.
Alex stood just meters away from the battle, the snow and wind making it hard to see. The bear's growls, combined with the barking of his dogs and the roars of Vela and her companions, created a chaotic symphony that only heightened the tension. Yuki limped, Vela was covered in blood, and exhaustion was starting to take its toll on them all. The situation was desperate.
With his eyes squinted to protect against the wind and snow, Alex pulled one of the Omega supplement vials from his belt. He quickly opened it and drank, feeling the thick, unpleasant liquid burn down his throat. The taste was horrible, but he didn't have time to care about that. He needed a burst of energy for what he was about to do.
"Ariel," he muttered as he raised his arm, watching as the glove tightened around his skin, the mycelia wrapping around him. "Help guide me. I can barely see through this damn snow."
Immediately, a targeting reticle appeared in his vision, projected by Ariel. The AI adjusted his perception, showing the exact position of the bear, marking visible weak points. The animal's roars echoed through the wind, and Alex's animals' movements seemed slower and more disjointed. He needed to act now.
In an instant, as Vela and Roka attacked the bear's side and managed to divert its attention, Alex found his opening. "Now!" he shouted, extending his arm and activating the glove with a thought.
From the top of the glove, a hook shot out, connected to a thin, black cable. It flew through the air, cutting through the snow, and within moments, it embedded itself into the bear's head, right in the spot Ariel had marked.
"Got it!" Alex exclaimed, feeling the tug of the cable as it connected to his glove. Instantly, he felt a surge of energy coursing through his arm, concentrating in the glove. His body began to emit a faint glow, and a low hum resonated in the air.
Electricity traveled through the cable, moving rapidly toward the bear. The impact was immediate. The bear roared, shaken by the electric shock that spread through its body. Its muscles tensed, and for a second, it seemed to be paralyzed. The electricity coursed through it, and the sound of the current was like the crackle of a high-voltage wire. But, incredibly, it wasn't enough to stop it.
The bear, despite the shock, moved its massive body and, with a furious roar, grabbed the cable with its enormous claws. With overwhelming strength, it yanked violently. Alex, still attached to the glove, was flung into the air like a leaf caught in the wind.
"Emergency disconnection!" Alex shouted mid-flight.
The cable released, and Alex crashed into the snow, rolling several meters before coming to a stop. The impact left him dazed, and for a moment, everything was blurry. The cold of the snow enveloped him, but he couldn't afford to stay down. He had to get up.
Panting and with a sharp pain in his leg, Alex forced himself to stand. He limped, feeling the pain from the fall, but he wouldn't stop. He couldn't. In the distance, Vela, Roka, Suri, and the dogs were still fighting with everything they had. Their movements were slower, but they hadn't given up yet. The bear was still standing, roaring with hatred, its skin torn and covered in wounds, but it seemed not to care.
Alex gritted his teeth and pulled out four more Omega supplement vials. "Excess consumption is dangerous," Ariel warned, her tone impersonal.
"I don't care," Alex responded, his voice filled with determination. He drank all the vials in one gulp, feeling the liquid burn down his throat and into his stomach. The surge of energy was immediate, like an electric torrent revitalizing every muscle in his body.
Without wasting any more time, he raised his arm and fired the hook again. This time, the cable latched onto the bear's side, near its neck. "Come on!" Alex shouted, as the glove hummed with an intensity he had never felt before.
The energy flowed through his body, concentrating in the glove. The hum grew louder, and he could feel the current moving at a dangerous speed. His muscles tensed, and the electricity shot through the cable, straight into the bear.
The impact was brutal. The bear let out an ear-splitting roar, but this time its body convulsed violently. The animal's eyes rolled back, its body tensed to the limit, and smoke began to rise from its head. The electricity surged through it mercilessly, paralyzing every muscle, every fiber.
The sound of the current was deafening, like thunder rumbling across the frozen valley. The bear tried to move, but its enormous legs trembled, unable to hold its weight. Finally, its body collapsed, crashing heavily into the snow, sending a white cloud into the air.
Alex, still holding his arm out, watched without breathing. The monster lay motionless, its skin charred, and dark gray smoke rose from its head. The silence that followed was deafening. The growls and barks of the battle had faded, and the only sounds left were the wind and the rapid beating of Alex's heart.
He let go of the glove and collapsed to his knees in the snow, panting. He was exhausted, his body trembling, and the energy from the supplement was beginning to wear off. In the distance, he saw Vela and the other animals slowly approaching, injured and exhausted, but alive.
The bear was dead.
