Capítulo 61: The Resentment of the Beastly Power Forward

Guys there is already content on patreon, if anyone wants to become a chunin or jonnin.

patreon.com/Chuga320 (More 50 chapters)

Sorry for yesterday's chapter I had a mini valorant tournament in the city (I'm silver, I play at 30FPS =D) and I thought the chapter was well edited.

—————————————————————————————————————————————

Griffin had no choice but to be extra careful and try not to reach out. If he committed another foul, he would be sent off…

But he didn't expect Curry to completely ignore him and shoot a three-pointer directly in his face, treating him like he wasn't even there!

It's fine if it happens once, but every time? What's the point?

The most annoying thing isn't even that. The most annoying thing is how Curry chews his mouthguard and shakes his head after every shot, flashing that smug smile. It's infuriating.

What are you so proud of? Just because you made a few difficult three-pointers?

If you can pull off a windmill dunk, then I'll be impressed!

Griffin was furious. What was happening in this world? Point guards don't pass the ball anymore; now they either become elite shooters or relentless attackers.

The guys from UCLA and Memphis played with more aggression than him, flying through the air as if defying gravity!

With every shot Curry made over him, Griffin's anger grew, and his eyes turned red.

Finally, Curry faced him again. Dribbling skillfully between his legs, then behind his back, Curry created just enough space for a shot and confidently launched a three-pointer.

The basketball nearly brushed Griffin's fingertips, spinning rapidly before falling straight through the net without even touching the rim.

Another bucket, another perfect shot!

As Curry ran back to his half, he raised his hands in celebration. The Bulldogs fans erupted in cheers, while the Sooners' side fell silent. It seemed like this neutral venue had become the Bulldogs' home court.

Damn!

Baby-face, you're going too far!

Griffin felt the world was full of malice toward him. He was supposed to be one of the favorites for the draft, but here he was, being humiliated by Curry. Now, his already shaky draft stock was at risk of falling even further.

He wasn't the first to experience this. Every few years, rookies with explosive physical talent would get overlooked. Last year, Oden was a prime example. Who knows what would happen this year?

Just wait, I'll stop you for sure!

Griffin stormed into the frontcourt, establishing his position in the low post with arms wide open, demanding the ball.

He was ready to fight back!

Once he received the pass, Griffin used all his strength, leaning into Campbell and pushing him back. His raw power was on full display.

Then, with a quick turn toward the basket, he leaped—so high his eyes were level with the rim. Holding the ball in his right hand, he cocked his arm back before slamming it down with all his might. Bang!

The rim rattled loudly, shaking the entire basket.

Griffin landed and, ignoring the pain in his hands, pounded his chest and roared to the sky, unleashing all the pent-up frustration.

He shot Curry a menacing glare, as if to say, "This is what real men do! Watch out, or I'll dunk on you next time!"

Curry only smiled, pointing at the scoreboard.

Griffin glanced up and instantly felt deflated.

The score was 63–45. The Bulldogs were leading by 18 points.

No matter how powerful the dunk, it's still only worth two points—one less than a three-pointer. It wasn't helping at all.

But Griffin didn't notice the hint of envy in Curry's eyes.

Every shooter dreams of dunking. A point guard who doesn't want to dunk isn't a true baller. Curry also wanted to pull off highlight-reel plays, but sadly, it wasn't in his skillset.

Liam Gonzalez, standing on the sideline, chuckled to himself. Young players, they sure have fiery tempers.

Still, Griffin posed a potential threat.

After playing most of the game, the Bulldogs' players were losing steam. Campbell had just barely held his ground, and the defensive rotations were full of gaps.

When Griffin received the ball, Julian Beko should have provided help defense immediately, but he hesitated for a split second, giving Griffin the space he needed.

Meanwhile, Griffin seemed to be brimming with energy. His physicality hadn't been worn down, and although his skills were still rough, Liam knew the wild power forward would eventually grow into one of the league's best.

If Griffin found his rhythm, things could get complicated.

With that in mind, Liam stood up and signaled to Curry. Curry noticed and nodded in understanding.

He took the ball from Campbell at the baseline and slowly dribbled up the court. Campbell moved up from the backcourt to set a screen at the top of the arc.

Curry used the screen, but Campbell's intent was too obvious. Griffin had already communicated with his teammates, and he quickly recovered his position after the delay, avoiding a defensive switch.

But Curry ran another pick-and-roll with Campbell, and this time, Griffin had no choice but to switch onto Curry.

Lon Kruger sighed from the sideline, unable to bear watching.

The other Bulldogs players cleared out, leaving the top of the arc for Curry and Griffin to go one-on-one.

Curry lowered his center of gravity, crossing over with quick dribbles between his legs.

Griffin, fully focused, treated Curry as if he were facing an elite opponent. His nerves were on edge, ready to contest any shot at a moment's notice.

Curry repeated his dribble rhythm a few more times, suddenly switching the ball behind his back and shifting to his right. Griffin instinctively moved left to block.

But Curry immediately switched back to his left hand, sidestepping just enough to create space from the off-balance Griffin.

The opportunity to shoot was brief, but it was all Curry needed. He gripped the ball, feigned a shot, and stared down the rim.

Curry's dribble moves were never intended to fully shake off a defender. He only needed the slightest gap to unleash a lightning-quick shot!

But Griffin reacted with incredible speed, using his core strength to shift back and jump to contest the shot.

Mid-air, Curry dropped the ball.

It was a fake!

Griffin realized too late. As he descended, Curry jumped and released the shot, bumping into Griffin in the process.

"Beep——"

As both players landed, the referee's whistle blew. It was a three-point foul!

And that wasn't all. Despite the awkward angle, Curry's shot kissed the backboard and dropped through the net.

Curry had earned a four-point play opportunity!

Griffin could only spread his hands in frustration, feeling utterly helpless as he met Lon Kruger's disappointed gaze.

How could anyone defend this?

His shooting was so accurate, his range so long, his release so quick, and on top of that, his dribbling was exceptional. Griffin had never seen a player like Curry.

Not in a game, not even while watching the NBA growing up. No one played like this!

Coach, it's not my fault. I gave it everything I had, but he's playing on cheat mode!
