Capítulo 67: Ch.67 Jar Opening!

Shinji didn't have high expectations.

In his mind, as long as one of the ten jars contained his grandmother Uchiha Naori's pair of Mangekyō Sharingan, it would be worth all the risk, even if the other nine were completely useless.

Nervously, he opened an old jar and activated Susanoo Tomoshibi.

At this moment, he only had two slots in his eye sockets for dojutsu.

In other words, to identify new Sharingan, he would need to first remove Uchiha Fugaku's pair of Mangekyō that he was currently wielding.

Taking a deep breath, Shinji activated his dojutsu and disengaged the control over Fugaku's eyes.

"Ah!"

A sharp pain immediately shot through his eye sockets.

Previously, with both pairs of Mangekyō at his disposal, activating Susanoo and Susanoo Tomoshibi hadn't been too burdensome.

But now, with Fugaku's pair removed, the pressure fell entirely on his own Mangekyō, and he instantly felt overwhelmed.

Enduring the intense pain, Shinji carefully placed Fugaku's Mangekyō into a brand-new nutrient jar he had prepared in advance.

He then quickly removed the Sharingan from the old jar, holding them in his hands.

With Susanoo Tomoshibi activated once again, a beam of light shot from his empty eye sockets, illuminating the Sharingan in his hands and drawing them into Susanoo's empty eye slots.

"Hmm…"

After just a few seconds, the information about this pair of eyes flowed into Shinji's mind, prompting a sigh.

This pair was just a regular three-tomoe Sharingan. Worse, due to years of neglect, they had lost all their power and had decayed beyond use.

Calming his thoughts, Shinji opened the second old jar, took out the Sharingan, and once again activated Susanoo Tomoshibi, replacing the decayed eyes with the new pair.

Suddenly, he froze, his eyes widening in surprise: "Mangekyō!"

In the second jar, he had found a pair of Mangekyō Sharingan!

However, his excitement quickly faded. He didn't feel the familiar connection of blood ties with this pair.

In other words, these weren't his grandmother Uchiha Naori's eyes.

Moreover, the original owner of this pair had used Izanagi, a forbidden technique that permanently consumed the Mangekyō's power. The right eye had lost all its power and was blind, while the left was barely functional, with its energy severely drained.

According to the feedback from Susanoo Tomoshibi, if these eyes weren't nourished, they would completely decay within six months.

Good thing I took them in time. If I had waited any longer, these Mangekyō would've been ruined!

Shinji felt fortunate.

Given how badly these Mangekyō had deteriorated, he wondered how much life remained in the other non-Mangekyō Sharingan stored in the remaining jars.

Removing the second Mangekyō, Shinji placed them in a new nutrient jar alongside Fugaku's pair.

Then, he opened the third jar.

Another decayed three-tomoe Sharingan.

He opened the fourth jar.

A decayed three-tomoe Sharingan.

Fifth jar.

Again, a decayed three-tomoe Sharingan.

After opening three jars of decayed three-tomoe Sharingan in a row, Shinji paused to rest, clutching his eyes.

Repeatedly activating Susanoo Tomoshibi was placing a heavy burden on his Mangekyō. In just this short time, the sharp pain in his eye sockets had intensified.

After resting briefly, Shinji glanced at the five remaining jars, feeling increasingly anxious.

His goal this time was his grandmother Uchiha Naori's pair of Mangekyō, but halfway through the jars, he still hadn't found them.

He opened the sixth jar.

After placing the new Sharingan in his eye sockets, Shinji froze again, his face filled with disbelief.

"How is this possible!?"

This was another pair of Mangekyō, but unlike the previous pair, this one had lost all of its power.

Even with Susanoo Tomoshibi, Shinji couldn't extract a single trace of energy from them.

Staring at the dead Mangekyō for a long time, Shinji muttered, "Even Mangekyō can decay..."

If it had been a simple three-tomoe, the loss wouldn't have hurt so much. But to find that even a Mangekyō had decayed—it stung.

As he continued to inspect these old Sharingan, Shinji gradually began to understand a pattern to the decay.

The lack of proper preservation was the main reason these eyes had deteriorated.

But another factor was the inherent strength of the Sharingan's power.

Weaker three-tomoe Sharingan, without maintenance, decayed the quickest, with many completely ruined.

Mangekyō, with their greater power, lasted longer.

However, none of the Mangekyō in these jars could be considered normal. Each of them had been used to perform Izanagi, exhausting one of the Mangekyō's eyes. So even before they were collected, they were already in poor condition.

This realization made Shinji worry even more about his grandmother Uchiha Naori's pair of Mangekyō.

After all, Uchiha Naori had also used Izanami, another forbidden technique that completely consumed the power of one Mangekyō eye.

Removing the decayed Mangekyō, Shinji placed them in a fresh nutrient jar.

He hesitated for a moment but still decided to place them next to the other two pairs of Mangekyō.

After all, they had once been Mangekyō. Maybe there was still a way to restore them. He couldn't bring himself to give up entirely.

Looking at the four remaining jars, Shinji felt a wave of tension.

Given what had just happened, even if his grandmother's Mangekyō was in one of these jars, he wasn't sure if they would still be usable.

He opened the seventh jar.

A decayed three-tomoe.

Eighth jar.

A three-tomoe in relatively poor condition.

This pair had been collected more recently, so they were better preserved.

Ninth jar.

Another decayed three-tomoe.

Staring at the final jar, Shinji felt lost.

He had already found two pairs of Mangekyō that weren't connected to him by blood. If he didn't find his grandmother Uchiha Naori's Mangekyō in this last jar, things were going to get awkward.

"I've never been this nervous, even when pulling for limited-edition gacha items in my past life…"

After rubbing his face with his hands, he opened the tenth jar and took the Sharingan out, activating Susanoo Tomoshibi once more.

Soon, a unique sensation flowed into his mind.

These eyes were connected to him by blood—no, more than that, these Mangekyō were connected to him by blood!

And these Mangekyō were in far better condition than the previous two pairs.

In other words, aside from the left eye being blind, the owner of these Mangekyō hadn't used much of their power during their lifetime.
