Spiritual energy from every direction converged around Chiba, forming a swirling vortex. At its center, Chiba sat cross-legged, lost in deep meditation.
Within his body, countless spirit particles transformed into "spirit placenta," fueled by a powerful aura and the potent elixirs he had ingested. For five days, this phenomenon continued, turning the small island into the eye of an intense spiritual storm.
The aura from hundreds of nautical miles away was completely absorbed into Chiba, and the spirit particles within him fully evolved. As a result, his physical energy surged several times over, far beyond his previous limits.
In that moment, Chiba couldn't fully grasp the extent of his newfound strength. He summoned his Armament Haki once more, watching as the majestic black energy, now called "Emission," enveloped his entire body.
Before, Chiba had only been able to coat his arms with this advanced form of Haki. Now, however, his entire body could be cloaked in its protective power, creating an armor-like aura that greatly boosted his defenses while retaining a supernatural agility.
Testing his new strength, Chiba approached a massive boulder and punched it. Although the surface showed no damage, when he flipped it over, he saw a large hole on the reverse side, the stone within turned to fine powder. The precision of the impact amazed him, a clear sign of how much his mastery of Emission had grown.
Chiba evaluated his strength, concluding that although he might not yet surpass his grandfather Garp, he was at least on par with, or even stronger than, Whitebeard during the Summit War. Now, Chiba was confident he could face Whitebeard without fear of defeat.
With his strength newly enhanced, Chiba felt certain that even a fully awakened Akainu would no longer be a threat.
As the celestial phenomena surrounding him slowly faded, Hina approached with a phone in hand. "Chiba, it's Marshal Sengoku on the line."
Chiba took the call. "Hello?"
"Chiba," Sengoku's voice came through, "Akainu has finished his training and is waiting for you at Marineford. Are you ready?"
"I'm ready. Don't worry, I'll give Akainu the lesson he deserves," Chiba replied confidently.
"Be cautious. Akainu's aura has intensified significantly. Even I would hesitate to face him now," Sengoku warned, echoing Tsuru's concerns.
Chiba laughed. "Sengoku, aren't you curious when your own Devil Fruit abilities might awaken, like Whitebeard's or Akainu's?"
"You cheeky brat," Sengoku replied with a chuckle, "awakening isn't that simple. Akainu nearly died achieving it, and only survived thanks to the elixirs from your lab. Be careful, Chiba."
"Understood. I appreciate your concern," Chiba said, moved by Sengoku's care.
"We'll see you at Marineford," Sengoku concluded, ending the call.
Tsuru, standing nearby, nodded approvingly. "It seems Chiba is finally taking Akainu seriously."
"I didn't expect Akainu to awaken his Devil Fruit abilities. His aura is overwhelming now. He might actually surpass us," Tsuru reflected.
Sengoku and Tsuru exchanged glances, noting the youthful vigor in Garp's appearance. His once-grey hair now held a healthy black shine, as though he had regained his youth.
"Garp, did Chiba give you a life potion?" Tsuru teased.
Garp let out a hearty laugh. "No life potion here, just a new state of practice. Maybe you should train harder!"
Inwardly, Garp marveled at the Divine Elephant Suppressing Prison Strength technique that Chiba had shared, amazed by its rejuvenating effects.
Meanwhile, in Sakazuki's office, Akainu radiated arrogance. "Commander, I can take on Whitebeard—and Chiba will be no challenge."
Confident in his awakened Lava-Lava Fruit, Akainu smirked. "With a few moves, I can turn the entire landscape into magma."
Kong, on the other end of the line, issued a cautionary command. "Akainu, remember, you must not kill Chiba. The World Government has plans for him."
"Commander," Akainu retorted, "Chiba's talent is a threat. If left unchecked, he'll surpass us. He's not loyal to the Marines; he's only using us for resources. If he turns against us, all our plans would crumble."
"I am ordering you not to kill Chiba," Kong repeated firmly.
"Commander? Can you hear me? This Den Den Mushi is acting up," Akainu feigned innocence, before smashing the receiver.
He then ordered all communications between Mariejois and Marineford severed, ensuring total secrecy.
Back in Mariejois, Kong seethed. "This Akainu defies me! Connect me to Sengoku!"
When his attempts to reach Marineford failed, Kong understood Akainu's intentions. "This treacherous hound! If Chiba dies, Garp will want vengeance, but the Five Elders will shield Akainu for his loyalty."
Chiba's ship soon docked at Marineford. As he entered the temporary headquarters, Sengoku sensed the powerful aura radiating from him, like that of an ancient beast.
Impressed, Sengoku noted Chiba's progress but offered a word of caution. "Even with your strength, don't underestimate Akainu."
Chiba shrugged. "Where is Akainu, that hot-headed dog?"
"Watch your tone, Chiba," came Akainu's growl, as he strode forward with a group of Marines, including Vice Admirals like the Flying Squirrel.
Chiba smirked at the Vice Admiral. "Switching sides again, Flying Squirrel?"
The Vice Admiral blushed. "We're all Marines here. No sides, just loyalty to the World Government."
Chiba chuckled at his evasive response.
Peacock grinned, taunting the Flying Squirrel. "Oh, you've got my attention again."
The Flying Squirrel snapped, "Peacock, don't test me!"
Tsuru intervened, "Flying Squirrel, mind your manners."
Following Chiba's nod, Koby drew his sword against the Vice Admiral, who retaliated with his own blade. Sparks flew as the two clashed, but Koby's strength quickly overpowered the Vice Admiral.
As Koby's divine energy surged, he delivered a powerful kick that sent the Flying Squirrel sprawling.
Enraged, the Vice Admiral attacked with a fierce slash, but Koby met him head-on, his superior strength evident as he struck back.
