The moment Berserker's golden spear transformed into an arcane tome, filled with strange runes, Saber immediately sensed something was off.
In her field of vision, Berserker's lips moved as if he were chanting, but neither she nor Assassin could hear a single sound.
Gem Beast Summoning!
A blue, multi-tailed creature appeared on the ground.
'A cat? A rabbit?' Saber and Kenshin couldn't comprehend what they were seeing. It didn't resemble any animal they were familiar with, but if they had to describe it, it looked... "cute."
Yet, when paired with someone like Berserker, neither of them felt it was something to be glad about.
"Chanting... Could it be?!"
Saber realized what Berserker was doing and immediately tried to rush forward. She now understood that not only could Berserker wield swords and spears, but he also had the ability to use magic. What she couldn't comprehend was how a Servant could use such diverse powers without restriction.
Saber's own abilities were limited to using her sword, as dictated by her Saber class. The same applied to other classes like Lancer, who would always use a lance. It was nearly impossible for a Saber to wield a lance or for a Lancer to use a sword. But Berserker seemed immune to these limitations.
There was no time to wonder why. Saber and Assassin had to stop him from completing his spell—whatever magic he was casting was bound to be dangerous.
"Is it blocking me?"
As the small creature swiped at Kenshin with its tail, forcing him to dodge, he felt the weight of the situation. Though he could easily outmaneuver it, Berserker had already bought enough time to finish his incantation. It was up to Saber to face him directly.
Bang!
Saber was met with a sudden flash of white light as she neared Berserker, blasting her backward.
"Gah!"
Thud!
"Urgh..."
Saber crashed through an abandoned building before finally coming to a stop, sliding across the ground and leaving deep scars on the earth.
'That spell's chant was incredibly fast... and it targeted me in an instant.'
Clutching her stomach, feeling the ache in her body, Saber used her holy sword to push herself up. Even with her agility, she hadn't been fast enough to reach Berserker.
"The next attack is coming!"
Her instincts flared, and she raised her sword just in time.
Boom
The building crumbled under the force of another magical blast, sending debris and dust flying into the air.
"..."
Kenshin, still engaged with the strange blue creature, couldn't believe what he was witnessing.
'This opponent is too strong.'
For the first time, Kenshin faced an enemy he saw no way of defeating. There was no path to victory—his broken sword was no match for Berserker.
"!"
Just then, Kenshin saw the blue creature vanish, and Berserker's arcane tome morphed into a massive golden axe. With his heavy armor and this new weapon, Berserker looked unstoppable.
'He's stronger than my master...' Kenshin thought, realizing Berserker could switch weapons at will, adapting to the situation. It was a humbling experience for the young assassin, seeing a fighter so thoroughly equipped, so skilled in various disciplines.
Whoosh!
The massive axe swung toward Kenshin, forcing him to dodge hastily. He couldn't even consider counterattacking—his broken sword and scabbard would shatter instantly under the force of that blow. It was only thanks to his speed and agility that Kenshin hadn't been crushed already.
'But I can't keep dodging forever... Sooner or later, he'll hit me.'
"Wait a minute..."
Kenshin's mind raced, searching for a solution. Then, out of the corner of his eye, amidst the ruins of the building, he saw a glimmer of light. It was where Saber had been thrown earlier. Berserker's magic had blasted her away, but her holy sword remained embedded in the ground.
A sword...
Something clicked in Kenshin's mind, and he sprinted toward the sword.
Shing!
Berserker, noticing his movement, charged after him.
Whoosh!
As Kenshin reached the holy sword, his hand gripped the hilt just as Berserker's axe came crashing down from above.
"Assassin!"
Saber, watching from the distance as she got back on her feet, saw what Kenshin was attempting. He was reaching for her sword, hoping to use it as a replacement for his broken blade.
'If it's him... maybe he can use it just like a regular sword.'
Kenshin, of course, couldn't unleash the power of Excalibur like Saber could. But even as an ordinary weapon, the sword was powerful enough for a skilled swordsman.
Clang!
Kenshin twisted his body mid-air, pulling the sword free and raising it to block the incoming axe. The holy sword and the golden axe collided, sending a shockwave through the ground. Kenshin was driven down into the earth by the sheer force of the strike, but he managed to hold his ground.
Crack!
The ground beneath him splintered as the pressure intensified.
"!"
With a deep breath, Kenshin shifted his body to the side, rolling away just as the axe smashed into the ground, sending dust and debris flying.
"Flying Sword Style!"
"Dragon Hammer Flash!!"
Taking advantage of the opening, Kenshin leaped from the side, gripping the holy sword with both hands and bringing it down in a powerful overhead strike.
Berserker sensed the attack and stepped back, but Kenshin was faster.
Crack!
This time, instead of sparks or a deflected blow, the holy sword sliced through Berserker's thick armor.
"Did he succeed?"
Saber watched, unsure. Though no blood spilled from the wound, Kenshin had clearly managed to break through Berserker's defenses.
Looking down at the gash in his armor, Berserker's hidden mouth curved into a smile beneath his helmet. These two nameless warriors had proven to be formidable opponents, worthy of his respect.
Boom!!
Suddenly, the sound of an explosion rang out from nearby, and a figure tumbled through the debris.
"Ugh, dust in my mouth!"
A golden-haired girl clambered to her feet, brushing herself off.
"How many traps do you have?!"
Still bound by the same restricting spell, Sakura Kyoko came flying down from above, her voice filled with frustration. The magician she was fighting had placed so many traps that she kept getting caught in them.
"What's... going on here?"
Saber and Kenshin both turned their attention to the new arrivals. They hadn't expected others to join the fray in the middle of their own intense battle.
"Huh? There's another fight here too? Oh, this is bad!"
Finally noticing the three powerful figures locked in battle nearby, Kyoko realized she had stumbled into a much larger conflict. She had no desire to face them, especially with her hands bound. Fighting against these Servants in such a state would be suicide.
And then, golden light flashed through the air, accompanied by the sound of boisterous laughter.
"Ahahahahahahaha!!"
