"No one is willing to step up and help Mr. Flint?"
"Hah, pure-blood families!" Kael sneered.
The black snakes he conjured once again hoisted everyone up to the ceiling. This time, it was the entire Slytherin house.
"As usual, my magic will wear off at the first light of dawn tomorrow."
"You all have the whole night to think about who truly calls the shots at Hogwarts, in Slytherin!"
"I'm giving you three days. If any of you figure it out, come find me with sincerity!"
"Oh, and Malfoy, write a letter to your father and have him send me two thousand Galleons."
"Otherwise, I can't guarantee the safety of his precious son at school!"
"After all, Hogwarts Castle has been standing for centuries; who knows what deadly traps might be hidden within?"
...
"Let's go, Cassie. I'll take you to find a dormitory."
"I happen to remember that there's an empty room available!" Kael smiled warmly at Cassandra after handling everything. His gentle demeanor was a stark contrast to his earlier domineering actions.
At that moment, Cassandra's heart began pounding wildly. Kael's recent display of power had deeply impressed her.
It was so commanding! With just a few casual gestures, he had the entire Slytherin house, including the seventh years, bowing their heads in submission.
She had never met such an exceptional peer.
"Cassie?"
"Oh, right! Let's go then!" she replied, snapping out of her daze.
...
As Kael and Cassandra headed towards the dormitory corridor, the Slytherin common room fell into silence. Everyone was reflecting on Kael's earlier words.
"Damn it!" Marcus Flint fumed with anger.
"This is a declaration of war! A war against all of us pure-blood families!" he snarled. Aside from Malfoy, Marcus was the one who hated Kael the most. His pants were still wet, and he hadn't even had time to change before being strung up.
"We can't let him continue like this. We have to find a way to bring him down."
...
"I'll write to my father. He won't let this slide," Malfoy muttered bitterly, having lost all face in front of the girl he admired today.
"What about the rest of you?" Marcus asked, looking to the others.
The Slytherin students strung up with him represented the majority of the pure-blood families, the ones who held the dominant positions in the British wizarding world.
These pure-blood families were bound by intricate marriage alliances, creating a strong community of shared interests. Almost all of them were related, even the Weasleys.
On one hand, they maintained their status through these alliances; on the other, they continuously promoted their glorious family histories and traditions.
Kael's actions had undoubtedly stomped on the pride of these families—and had twisted the knife in the wound. (T/N: to say or do things that cause more pain to someone who is already suffering.)
"I agree!"
"I'll write to my father first thing tomorrow morning!"
"Count me in!"
With Marcus leading the charge, most of the Slytherin students expressed their agreement.
If they couldn't beat Kael, they would just write letters and complain! They couldn't believe that a mere student could stand against the combined forces of so many pure-blood families.
As Kael had said earlier, even students eventually leave school, right?
The most surprising part was that before school started, none of the Slytherins had ever heard of someone like Kael in the wizarding world.
...
<Evening>
In the Great Hall, the students of Hogwarts were surprised to see that the entire Slytherin table was empty, except for Kael and Cassandra, who were happily enjoying dinner together. There wasn't a single other Slytherin in sight.
"Good evening, junior!" Penelope Clearwater gracefully approached, carrying a plate. She sat down next to Kael with a faint smile on her face.
In fact, just being in Kael's presence was enough to lift even the foulest of moods.
"Good evening, Senior Penelope," Kael replied as he calmly cut into his steak pie. The house-elves of Hogwarts truly knew how to cook.
"Who is she?" Cassandra asked, glaring at Penelope with hostility.
"Penelope Clearwater! A few years ago, our great Lord Mephisto saved myvlife in Knockturn Alley," Penelope replied. Now fifteen years old and in her fifth year, she had blossomed into a young woman with a certain charm that Cassandra couldn't compete with.
"Hmph!" Cassandra growled. "Cassandra Vole!" she introduced herself while viciously cutting into her steak. Losing in the age department stung, and she was not happy about it.
