Capítulo 5: A Chilling Ultimatum
Sarah wakes up to the sun beaming on her face. "Ahhhh shit," she said, as she winced in pain and grabbed the back of her head. She slowly gets up squinting her eyes and looking around the living room. "Mike," she calls out, "Mike." Sarah eyes begin to adjust to the sun light, and she starts to look around the house. She could see the house was in disarray. "What happened?" She asked herself. As she looked around the house for Mike, she seen a note on the table, picking it up she opens it and reads it.
"If you want your boyfriend back alive you will do as I say, or the consequences will not be pretty. Wait for my call."
Sarah dropped to her knees, as a flashback of last night ran across her mind. She gasped and began to cry, "I knew I shouldn't have came here. What am I going to do? I can't let them kill him," Sarah says through heavy tears. Sarah cry's for a few moments, as she punches her chest, she shakingly gets up and almost falls back down, as her knees buckled. Sarah sits down on the couch trying to figure out what to do. "Who are these people?" She quickly thought to herself. "And what could they possibly need me to do so desperately, that they would kidnap Mike." So many questions and no answers to any of them. "I'll be able to think clearer after I clean myself up," She thought. Sarah got up, went into Mike's bedroom, took a shower, ate, and put on some clothes that Mike still had of hers.
"Okay think Sarah, what can we do? Who can we call?" Sarah contemplated on what to do next, scared of the repercussions that would transpire if she involves anyone else. "UGH! I don't know what to do," Sarah yells out, while flopping back onto the couch. "What about Jack?" Sarah thought, "he can definitely help and protect me." Jack is Sarah's old friend, who is a retired Navy seal, whom she met in college. Sarah picked up her phone to quickly call him. *Ring* Ring* "Come on Jack please pick up,"Sarah begged. *Ring* Ring* "Hello?" Jack says, as he answered the phone. "Jack it's me Sarah, can we please meet up as soon as possible it's urgent!" Sarah pleaded. "Uhmm okay, my place in an hour," Jack says and hangs up. "Okay, I can do this," Sarah says as she hurried to get ready. Sarah left Mike's house, an attempted to close the door and lock up, laughing to herself after she realize the door was kicked off the hinges. Sarah quickly scanned her surrounds to see if she was being watched or followed and quickly got into the car.
Sarah drove to the address Jack texted her, anxiety riddling her body. "Please don't let me be putting Jack's life in danger," She pleaded to herself. Sarah arrived at Jack's place in record time, she parked and sat in her car, debating on if she should go in. "I can't let what happened to Mike happen to Jack,"Sarah says to herself. Sarah steadied her racing heart, wiping her sweaty palms on her clothes, and breathed in and out, "Okay Sarah it should be ok, Jack can protect himself." Sarah got out the car,her head on swivel, as walks towards Jack's place. What Sarah didn't know was just across the street, Sal one of the mafia gunmen, was watching her. "I found her boss," Sal says as he called his boss. "Bring her to me alive!" The boss ordered before hanging up the phone.
Sarah ran up his stairs and rang the doorbell. "Who is it?" Jack asked. "It's me," Sarah replied. Jack proceeds to open his door, gesturing for Sarah to come in. "Ok Sarah what was so urgent that you needed to tell me asap," Jack asked, as he plopped down on the couch. Sarah took a deep breath, "Spit it out," Jack yelled urgently. "Ok there is a lot going on and I don't know how to explain it," Sarah says sadly. "Well just start talking and I'll try to make sense of it," Jack said annoyed. "Ok look, my office was raided by the mafia , I was stabbed resulting in me unlocking some unknown new founded abilities, Mr.Harrington is a criminal and his business isn't real, it's only open to launder money, I killed and took down all the mafia members by myself, Mike was kidnapped by who knows and they left a letter demanding I do what they say, and also now, I'm a wanted murderer," Sarah said speaking so fast she forgot to breathe, causing her to inhale a big gulp of air.
Jack sat in silence for a while, very skeptical of what Sarah just said, analyzing every single word she spoke. Finally breaking his silence, "Ok where do I come in here," Jack asked sternly. "You're the only one left I can turn to, and I know that has the power to help me," Sarah said, praying that Jack would help her. "Ok look I don't know if I believe you, everything seems so far fetched," Jack said puzzlingly. "Jack I know this sounds crazy, but I really need you to believe me," Sarah pleaded. Jack sat in silence, contemplating on what else to do. Just as Jack was about to respond, the mafia burst through his door guns drawn.
Both Sarah and Jack immediately ducked for cover. Jack pulled out his gun from behind his couch quickly loading it. "You have 5 seconds to leave here still breathing," Jack shouted. Sal laughed deeply, cocking his gun, "I only want Sarah, once you hand her over I'll leave." "That's not happening," Jack replied. Sarah sneakily moved around the couch, finding another gun and knife, she loads the gun and put the knife in the back of her pants.
Sarah made eye contact with Jack signaling for him to go around to the other side of couch, so they can box them in. Jack stealthily moved from one side of the couch to the other, loading one of the bullets into the barrel. One of the mafia man moved towards Jack's hiding spot, while the other moved towards Sarah's, both looking around to see if they could find either one of them. Sarah patiently waited for the gunman to get closer to her, once he was close enough she took out the knife, deeply cutting into one of his achilles heel, causing him to drop down on his right knee, and yell in pain. Sarah swiftly moved cutting into the gunman's other achilles heel. Jack then waited for the gunman to get closer to him before he got up and shot him. The only other person left was Sal.
Both Sarah and Jack fed off each other, moving as one with lethal precision. As they both closed in on Sal. Sal, quickly ran out of the apartment, running across the street, hoping into his car and driving away. Sarah and Jack fiercely chased after him. "Damn it, he got away," Jack says, as he tries to catch his breath. "I know," Sarah says, breathing heavily. "Ok I'll help you Sarah, after seeing what you can do and what just happened with my own eyes, I'm convinced that you're telling the truth," Jack said, as he headed back into his apartment.
"OMG thank you!" Sarah said relieved. When Jack got back into the apartment, he pulled out his phone and called someone. "I need you come and cleanup this mess, oh and bring the team to," Jack said hanging up. "What was that about?" Sarah questioned. "You'll see," Jack stated. "Now let's get down to the bottom of all this and figure out a way to prove your innocence," Jack says, as he walks to the kitchen, pulling out two water bottles and sitting them down on the counter. Sarah walks over and sits down at the breakfast nook, grabbing the water, taking a sip, and says " Okay, I'm ready to finally uncover the truth behind all this."
