She supposed that was a good thing - impressive, even - for someone who'd been poisoned. But then, Donncahd had mentioned an antidote, so that probably had more to do with her quick recovery than any hardiness she might have.

That the reason her Quickening hadn't presented the usual symptoms wasn't because she didn't have it, or because she had some kind of dormant version of it.

It was just...slower acting for some reason.

But not slow enough.

He hadn't given her a strict time frame, but she wasn't sure she would have wanted to know, anyway.

He'd simply made it clear she wouldn't see old age in this lifetime, either.

She could sit around and mope, let all that weigh down on her and feel as if all her struggling was worthless and pointless.
