Clair and the others were stunned. She gritted her teeth. "What are you two doing! Finish it before the authorities arrive!" She knew that once they did, it would get a bit complicated. The two guards looked at each other, both a bit stunned. Taking a rune ability bare-handed with no damage was obviously not a normal feat, but they had been working together for quite some time and understood each other's techniques and methods.
The man with the resonance-formed mallet began to rush towards the young man, while the dark-skinned man began to chant to use another resonance rune. "When I step, the wind surges, when I speak the trees grow, Impaling tendril!" The glob of energy that had formed as he spoke suddenly formed what looked like a tree branch, yet more elastic and the color of resonance energy. It wound and shot towards the young man.
Looking at the first guard with the mallet, the young man stepped forward. He firstly sidestepped as the bodyguard smashed the mallet down onto the ground where the young man had been a second ago, causing a small crash and the ground to give way a meter or two. Yet before he could raise it, the young man kicked with his right foot. A slight snap could be heard as the guard's right arm broke. He shouted in pain, using his left hand to raise the mallet in a sweeping attack.
The young man simply laughed. "Seriously?" he mumbled, before punching forward with his left palm, still coated in resonance energy. The bodyguard went flying backwards, crashing into a nearby wall, the mallet leaving his hand and dissipating. The young man then spun before unsheathing a blade with blue edges. He gave it a skillful swipe down as the resonance rune spell forming a tendrilled branch reached him.
The spell was cleanly cut from tip to base from a strike of resonance energy from the young man's attack. Though it didn't stop there, the dark-skinned guard screamed in pain. His left hand had been cleanly cut off at the wrist, blood spewing out as he held it with his right hand. "Well... I did say you might lose a limb," the young man chuckled, a little guilty.
Soon the sound of a siren from afar could be heard. "Uh oh..." the young man heard before he rushed over to Zenith, appearing beside him quickly. "Let's beat it before the authorities get here, or it's gonna get complicated." Zenith didn't know what to say; what he saw was simply amazing. He was hesitant to leave as he knew Kalen wasn't a fast runner. Turning to look at him, Kalen knew what Zenith was worried about.
"It's better like this. I'm not going to hide my family identity anymore. Clair and her posse really piss me off. I'll handle the mess; you just get out of here." Zenith nodded. The young man seemed a bit more at ease as he saw Kalen had some backing. Despite that, he didn't stay. He and Zenith rushed off as Clair shouted out and screamed.
Some time later, the young man had led Zenith to the ship docking area in the colony city. Zenith took a cautious step away and eyed him. "Who are you exactly? Are you really from Allspace? Why didn't you contact me when you arrived?"
The young man looked a bit surprised. "Firstly! You're welcome. Secondly, if I'm not from Allspace, no one has the right to be, haha. I'm Fable! Fable Novaforge at your service!" He raised a hand up to his chin, attempting to strike a heroic pose.
Zenith looked at it as if he had a screw or two loose. He did remember that the leader of Allspace who had founded it before disappearing was Arsenio Novaforge, someone at the level of the leaders that were part of the Relic syndicate. "Thank you for the help back there," Zenith relaxed a bit, though still a little cautious, continuing on. "But why didn't you guys message me when you arrived?"
Hearing this, Fable spoke. "Well, we encountered a warp storm as we arrived which damaged the systems of our ship, so when we got here a little ago, it flew over our heads. I was actually just going out for a meal and to check the place out. Couldn't believe we ran into each other. I guess fate works in mysterious ways, right?" He smiled. Zenith spoke quietly, "Yeah, mysterious ways."
Keeping silent for an awkward moment, Fable walked over and placed a hand onto Zenith's shoulder. "So! Let's go meet with the others." Zenith nodded, and soon the two went off. Not long later, they arrived at the dock. Zenith often passed by this area to admire the vessels. Fable led him towards the freighter. The ship itself was damaged in some spots, sparks shooting out as repair robots were working on it, human assistance also intervening at some times. The vessel was black with dark red trimmings and a symbol at the head of the ship: two hands forming a triangle with a spiral representing space or a galaxy, the symbol of the Relic Hunter organization.
Entering inside from the docked ramp, the interior was quite wide, and the inside was a bit spacious. Fable spoke up, "Gran! Mirabell, I'm back. Look who I brought!" A voice called out from deeper in the ship. "If it's another girl, I swear by all that is hol-" Soon the old lady from previous events, accompanied by the young lady Mirabell, showed up, gazing a bit at Zenith.
"This is?" the grandma asked curiously. Fable smiled and spoke up. "Our applicant, obviously! I ran into him during some, uh, stuff." The grandma raised an eyebrow cautiously, then smiled warmly at Zenith. "Good, good. Welcome to Allspace, Zenith! We are happy to have you aboard. I'm Jenabell Novaforge, the matriarch of the Novaforge family and Leader of Allspace. I handle all the stuff that relic hunters don't do while they are searching for relics." Zenith bowed respectfully; he had read about them from the information given. "Nice to meet you, ma'am," he said respectfully.
"Good kid! Unlike a brat I know," she eyed Fable, who acted as if he didn't hear her. Zenith then looked towards Mirabell and bowed again. "You must be Miss Mirabell." Mirabell, having her hands in front of her, tilted her head a little and smiled warmly, then waved.
Zenith was a little confused. Jenabell then spoke, "Eh... you see, because of Mirabell's resonance ability, I'm sure you read up on it, it left her as a mute." Mirabell looked a little sad as she heard her situation. She then gazed back at Zenith, opening her mouth a little, which caused a transparent soft colorful aura to surround her. The faint sound of gentle music sounded from her body; when she moved her mouth to speak words, the music would change. Zenith was stunned. "Resonance really is mysterious, but I think it's a really amazing ability!" He spoke, wanting to cheer her up as he had seen her frown somewhat.
Mirabell stopped speaking, looking at Zenith with a thankful smile as the aura receded. Hearing Zenith praise Mirabell, Fable felt like he was missing out. "My ability is cool too!" he grumbled. Zenith turned and curiously spoke, "It's called Hoarder, right?" Fable saw Zenith's curiosity and spoke.
"That's right! Once a day, it absorbs an equal amount to my total resonance energy, once per day! Weirdly enough, this seems to come from the universe and not my own reserves!" Jenabell sneered and spoke, interrupting him. "He is basically a battery that doesn't work but is always charging." Fable, hearing this, cleared his throat, feeling wronged. "W-well, but using it will do something really cool! I bet I can shock the entire galaxy!"
Mirabell softly laughed, and Jenabell scoffed. "Heh, you don't even know what it will do. What can you do hoarding all that energy? Pull off a light show? Zenith, don't learn anything from him. He is a troublemaker, and he is a playboy." Jenabell walked over, gently patting Zenith's back, leading him towards the deeper parts of the chamber despite Fable's ramblings about unfairness and that he wasn't a troublemaker, though he didn't refute the playboy claim.
Jenabell, Mirabell, and Zenith walked into what seemed to be a storeroom for equipment. Mirabell began to bring out several materials and some equipment. "You sent us your attire measurements, which we used to have an outfit suitable for you. Do you know what outfits made from materials found from creatures within Resonant space and relics can do?"
Zenith nodded. "Able to amplify the capabilities of resonance abilities, as well as protect against certain resonant runes, abilities to an extent, but I don't have a resonance frequency... so-" Jenabell interrupted him, smiling. "That's fine. This is mainly for your safety. Wearing it, you should get a bit of a strength boost, but most of all, protection is what matters. Go try it on."
Mirabell handed Zenith a folded outfit set. Zenith nodded and soon went to the change room. A few minutes later, he walked out. The upper top was white with black trims, extending down into a cape. The interior of the cape was made of a blue material that seemed to look like a soft blue energy, almost like a sky. Accompanying it were black tight pants with the sides white, and combat boots. The sides of the outfit had some black material swaying softly with his movements.
"Not bad, definitely handsome. What do you think?" With Jenabell nodding in approval, Mirabell's cheeks turned a soft red as she quickly nodded, her aura releasing a soft musical chime as if agreeing.
"Most importantly, this outfit has a small reserve of resonance energy that can let you use some tools," Jenabell spoke, moving towards a section of the armory chamber, towards the weapons and tools.
