Capítulo 70: Rias and Sona’s peerage returns

Izashi's grip on Vali's throat tightened, his usually calm eyes brimming with unrestrained fury. Vali, despite being the proud White Dragon Emperor, could feel the overwhelming pressure emanating from Izashi. For the first time, Vali knew he was in over his head. Even though he was a being of immense pride, that pride was not enough to make him foolish.

Vali's mind raced. Angering Izashi was a death wish, and he could feel the abyss staring back at him from the depths of Izashi's enraged eyes. He wisely chose to stay silent. The words he wanted to say were trapped in his throat, not out of cowardice but sheer survival instinct. He could sense Albion, the dragon within him, trembling slightly, as if aware of just how perilous their situation had become.

Izashi's voice dripped with venom as he spat out his challenge, "You seem to enjoy fighting, Vali. Fine. Fight me. Let's end this right now. A battle to the death, no holding back. Use everything you have, and I'll show you just how vast the gap between us really is."

The tension in the air was suffocating. Vali wanted to argue, but now wasn't the time for bravado. Instead, he managed to speak in a calm tone, hoping to defuse the situation. "It's not that I want to fight you, Izashi. I just wanted to test the strength of the Red Dragon Emperor."

Izashi released his hold on Vali, pushing him away with an expression that showed nothing but disdain. His voice was low, but the menace in it was clear as day. "Threaten any of them again," he motioned towards Rias and the others, "and your existence will be wiped from this world so fast that no one will ever know why the Divine Dividing gear isn't appearing on someone else."

Once Izashi released him, the tense atmosphere remained, though it was somewhat alleviated.

The threat was palpable, making Albion inside Vali finally release a breath of relief. It had been certain its soul was about to be annihilated alongside Vali's body. Vali, for all his arrogance, knew better than to push Izashi any further and simply nodded his head in compliance.

Vali, regaining some composure, looked back at Issei with an unreadable expression. "You heard what I said. I came here to deal with Kokabiel, but it seems unnecessary now. So, I might as well test your strength."

Issei's brows furrowed for a moment. He wasn't a fan of Vali's attitude, but he couldn't deny his curiosity either. This was his supposed rival, the fated nemesis of the Red Dragon Emperor. "You're right," Issei finally said. "I'm curious too. Let's settle this now." Without another word, Issei activated his Balance Breaker, his body encased in the familiar crimson armor of the Red Dragon Emperor.

[Balance Breaker: Scale Mail!]

Vali, not one to be left behind, followed suit. His armor manifested in a bright flash of white light, marking the appearance of the White Dragon Emperor's power.

[Balance Breaker: Divine Dividing Scale Mail!]

The two rushed at each other, clashing in a blur of red and white. Their fists collided, shaking the ground beneath them, and the sound of their battle echoed through the air like thunder. Issei had come a long way since his first encounter with Vali, and now, with the Dragon's Heart empowering him, his body no longer tired as easily as it once did. His stamina was nearly endless, his muscles enhanced beyond human capacity. It wasn't just about boosting anymore; his very physique had been transformed.

As the two combatants continued to clash, the onlookers watched with interest. Izashi, however, was anything but interested. He had already seen enough of their squabbling and wasn't in the mood for their antics. He returned to Rias and the others, who were watching the fight unfold with concern. His gaze was impassive, his thoughts far from the battle.

Akeno and Kuroka, sensing Izashi's restlessness, leaned into him, wrapping their arms around him in an attempt to comfort him. Akeno placed her head gently against his chest, closing her eyes as if to block out the world. Kuroka mirrored her, pressing her face into his chest and nuzzling him softly.

"They're evenly matched, huh?" Akeno murmured, her voice soft and comforting.

"Seems like it," Izashi replied casually, though he wasn't truly interested in the outcome. He knew that both Vali and Issei had their limits. Vali could only divide Issei's power to a certain extent, and Issei's body could only handle so much boosting before reaching its limit. It was a stalemate, and one that didn't hold much value for Izashi.

After more than ten minutes of watching the repetitive back-and-forth, Izashi finally sighed. "I'm tired of this pointless fight. Let's go."

His tone brooked no argument. Akeno and Kuroka both straightened up as Izashi moved. He let go of them and, in the blink of an eye, moved faster than either Issei or Vali could perceive. Before either of them could react, Izashi appeared between them and delivered a punch to both their faces, sending them crashing to the ground.

"Enough," Izashi said, his voice filled with irritation. "It's a draw. We're leaving."

Vali, still reeling from the sudden blow, groaned on the ground. Issei, meanwhile, wiped a bead of sweat from his forehead and wisely chose to stay silent. He wasn't going to challenge Izashi's authority, especially not after witnessing that kind of speed.

Without further discussion, Izashi began walking back to Rias and the others. Issei followed behind him quietly. As they arrived, Izashi turned to Rias and Sona, his tone suddenly serious. "You two should head back. I need to speak with Kuroka about something."

Rias and Sona exchanged brief glances before nodding in agreement. They knew better than to question Izashi's decisions, especially when he was in this kind of mood. Issei, though he wanted to ask something, held his tongue and followed the others as they departed, leaving Izashi and Kuroka alone.

Once they were gone, Izashi turned to Kuroka, who looked at him with eager eyes. Vali and Kokabiel were both unconscious in the distance, but Izashi didn't spare them a glance. Instead, he raised his hand and sent several blasts of destructive energy toward Kokabiel's unconscious body. The blasts made contact, incinerating the fallen angel's body and leaving no trace behind.

Kuroka watched, unfazed by the destruction. Her focus remained entirely on Izashi. She let out a pleased sound as he pulled her into a tight embrace, his hand gently rubbing the back of her head. She purred softly as he kissed her cheek, a content smile on her face.

"So, Kuroka," Izashi said in a softer tone, "did you find them?"

Kuroka nodded eagerly. "Yes, nya~. I found them. I used my Senjutsu to heal some of their wounds before coming back to you."

With that, Kuroka led Izashi to a secluded spot where Xenovia and Irina lay recovering. The two exorcists were in the process of healing themselves, their magic nearly depleted from the battle. When they saw Izashi approaching, they tried to stand and prepare for a fight, but their injuries were too severe. They fell back down, their bodies betraying them.

Izashi's gaze was indifferent as he looked down at them. "Well, well, look at this. Two exorcists, saved by a devil. I wonder how the church will react when they find out. Do you think they'll excommunicate you for it?"

Xenovia and Irina were caught off guard by his words. They had been expecting a threat, maybe even a fight, but this? This was unexpected. Irina, ever the optimist, shook her head. "No… the church wouldn't do that. God wouldn't abandon us. We were unconscious; they'd understand."

Izashi chuckled darkly, shaking his head. "You have more faith in the church than they deserve. If they were willing to throw Asia out for healing a devil without knowing, what makes you think they won't do the same to you?"

His words hit Irina like a ton of bricks. Her confidence faltered, and for the first time, genuine worry crept into her expression. She hadn't considered that. Xenovia, meanwhile, remained silent, her thoughts clouded with doubt.

Izashi, seeing their reactions, smirked. "You put so much trust in an organization that doesn't even know the truth. The truth about God's death."
