Seeing her General take the lead, Fu Xuan hesitated for a moment longer. Then, with a sigh, she glanced around at the growing group, clenched her fists, and dove into the crowd.
When your direct superior sets the example, suddenly all inhibitions disappear. With her General leading the charge, Fu Xuan decided there was no reason to hold back.
After all, the most embarrassed person here was Blade, not her. And if the rest of the group was embracing the chaos, why shouldn't she try something new and refreshing too?
As she joined in, she noticed something curious. Pei Guang, Stelle, March 7th, and even the Herta Puppet were all dancing with their eyes closed, fully immersed in the rhythm. Inspired, Fu Xuan committed the steps to memory before closing her own eyes.
The moment she did, it was as though the music and the steps etched themselves into her very DNA. Her body began to move instinctively, and for the first time, Fu Xuan felt what it was like to catch up with a trend.
Sometimes, people are like this: one person doing something embarrassing is humiliating, two people double the shame, but when a whole group does it? That's a trend. And if someone high-ranking or influential joins in? Rest assured—no one on Xianzhou would dare to laugh.
In fact, once the event ended and word of the dance spread, it wouldn't just set a trend on the Xianzhou. It might even become a galactic phenomenon. There might even be people asking the Herta Puppet for lessons, given that she was leading the charge.
While this crowd reveled in their lively antics, Blade experienced an unprecedented torment. The memories that Kafka had sealed moments ago came flooding back.
Dan Heng had flawlessly recreated his nightmares. In those dreams, Dan Heng used a Pink Fluffy Bunny as a makeshift instrument, crafting feline melodies from Blade's humiliation. Now? Dan Heng had amplified the nightmare tenfold by channeling the power of the Imbibitor Lunae.
But it didn't stop there. The group—this shameless, unapologetic group—had the audacity to dance to the rhythm of the cat sounds emanating from his very being. And they danced with such genuine delight!
At this moment, Blade felt as if his mara-stricken state was about to erupt completely. But before he could lose control, a stream of black liquid shot from Dan Heng's hand, landing directly in Blade's mouth.
Yes, this was Pei Guang's infamous "Sleeping Coffee"—a surefire sedative. Whoever drinks it, loves it.
So, before Blade could explode, Dan Heng ensured the coffee made its way into his system. Not stopping there, he rummaged through the shared inventory to retrieve Pei Guang's stash of medicines and shoved them into Blade's mouth; then, he waited.
Ten minutes later, Blade groggily regained consciousness. The moment his eyes opened, he bellowed: "Dan Heng! I'm going to kill you!!!"
"Blade, calm down," Kafka's voice cut in.
The command tempered Blade's fury, and he took a deep breath, forcing himself to collect his thoughts.
Kafka's words reminded him of their mission. Killing Dan Heng could wait; they needed Dan Heng to break the Arbor's seal so Jing Yuan could deal with Xianzhou's calamity.
The last remnants of his rationality urged him to follow Elio's plan. Only through this path could Blade achieve true release—an end to his unending suffering.
But his hatred? That was a different story. Past grievances were one thing, but what Dan Heng had just done to him—this humiliation—was on a whole other level. Even Dan Feng had never subjected him to such indignity. Yet Dan Heng? Dan Heng had orchestrated this mockery!
Blade's hatred was palpable, a force so intense it seemed to ripple beyond the Xianzhou.
Yet when Dan Heng heard Blade's furious outburst, he simply smiled. "I'll always be ready for your revenge. I'll meet it as Dan Heng—not Dan Feng. But make sure you're prepared. Next time we meet, I won't hold back. Oh, by the way, Ah Guang told me about a method to deal with immortal beings like you: the 'Trash Can Punishment.' We'll stuff you in a trash can."
Dan Heng's tone was calm and matter-of-fact, eerily reminiscent of Pei Guang's habit of delivering terrifying ideas with an air of casual indifference.
Proximity to Pei Guang seemed to have rubbed off on Dan Heng. Even the best among the group couldn't escape his bizarre influence. Pei Guang's suggestions often sounded ridiculous at first, but upon reflection, they always carried a certain logic.
Victory required understanding your enemy and tailoring unique solutions to neutralize them.
Dan Heng put away the Pink Fluffy Bunny, his orb now spinning in the air, still bearing the bunny's whimsical appearance.
Blade stared at Dan Heng, his face frozen as he processed the so-called "Trash Can Punishment." If he had harbored any lingering doubts about Dan Heng's identity, they vanished in that moment.
Dan Heng couldn't possibly be Dan Feng. Dan Feng would never come up with something as absurd as "trash can justice."
Grinding his teeth, Blade muttered: "Do you have any dignity as a warrior?"
Dan Heng's eyes glistened with a bittersweet emotion. "If you'd asked me two weeks ago, I would've said 'yes.' But now? None. Not a shred left."
Pei Guang, who had paused mid-dance to listen, turned toward Blade with a contemplative expression. "Dignity as a warrior? Can it be traded for better gear?"
Stelle: "How many consumables can we get?"
March 7th: "How many bosses can we defeat?"
Blade snorted coldly. "Hmph, one day you'll face an enemy you can't beat with these antics."
Pei Guang chuckled. "Unfortunately for you, that enemy isn't you."
Blade: "You!!!"
Blade was about to lose his temper again when Kafka intervened once more. "Blade, listen to me. Stand down."
This time, Blade calmed himself again, choosing to ignore Pei Guang's provocation as he retreated behind Kafka.
Kafka turned her gaze to Stelle. "Our task is complete. The rest of the stage belongs to you now."
The original plan had been for Blade to break Dan Heng's seal, restoring his power to help Jing Yuan unlock the Arbor's seal. That was supposed to be the only path toward fulfilling Elio's prophecy. But with Pei Guang's intervention…
Though Dan Heng's power had indeed been restored, the process was… unconventional, to say the least. As for Blade's mental state? That was no longer a concern.
While the Pink Fluffy Bunny had undoubtedly scarred Blade's psyche, there was no need to worry about those humiliations spreading across the galaxy. It wasn't because they had Silver Wolf, the ultimate hacker, but because what awaited the Lord Ravager Phantylia would be far worse.
The Stellaron Hunters were not enemies of the Astral Express or the Xianzhou, but Phantylia certainly was. And besides, when Blade was at Dan Heng's mercy, Pei Guang hadn't even lifted a finger.
To the Xianzhou's powerful figures, Blade being humiliated with a bunny wasn't much different from a mara-struck soldier receiving the same treatment. But the thought of the Lord Ravager being subjected to this…
Even Kafka couldn't help but spare a moment of silence for Phantylia. With Pink Dan Heng at full power and a fully prepared player party in Xianzhou, it was hard to imagine what kind of inhumane suffering she would face.
