100% too many skills; I'm really not a god." / Chapter 85: Chapter 85: Those Are Your Rules, I Never Agreed

Capítulo 85: Chapter 85: Those Are Your Rules, I Never Agreed

The moment Liam felt the terrifying killing intent, he immediately shifted into combat mode. His eyes flashed red, and a powerful killing aura emanated from him. His hands twitched instinctively, but he quickly regained clarity, stopping his hands before they could extend further. With a slight tilt of his head, he avoided Niu Jingyu's gaze.

That simple head movement shocked Niu Jingyu.

How could this be?

To be able to avoid his gaze meant that Liam's willpower and killing intent were extraordinary. Skills and abilities could be trained, but killing intent... that had to be cultivated through real bloodshed.

Moreover, a moment ago, Niu Jingyu had distinctly felt a chill at his ribs, chest, and neck.

It was a sense of danger, the feeling of being targeted by an enemy.

"Was it just my imagination...?" Niu Jingyu wondered, just as Liam's calm voice broke the silence.

"I have."

What?!

Hearing this, Niu Jingyu couldn't help but look at him again. Are you trying to open my eyes here?

His earlier question was meant to intimidate. The subsequent psychological training was indeed related to bloodshed. After all, superhumans couldn't go their whole lives being peaceful. There were divine servants, various terrorist organizations, and rebel groups to contend with—combat was inevitable.

This training aimed to prepare students mentally for the bloodshed they would eventually encounter.

"How many?" Niu Jingyu asked.

"Over a hundred, maybe. I didn't count that day, but it should be quite a few," Liam said, frowning slightly and tilting his head.

That brief eye contact just now had clearly stirred his emotions, making him feel a bit irritated.

But his words left everyone stunned. Niu Jingyu fell silent, turning to his female assistant.

"Who is this kid? Did we check his background? He better not be some criminal—what kind of person is this?!"

The female assistant quickly approached and whispered a few words into Niu Jingyu's ear, briefly explaining Liam's background.

"Apparently, during the special student assessment day, he participated in a battle against divine servants and performed remarkably."

Listening to the explanation, Niu Jingyu frowned, looking back at Liam.

You can't judge a book by its cover. This kid... he's a tough one?

Killing over a hundred divine servants in a single day? Is that something a student should be doing?

The kid looks harmless, sleepily nodding off throughout the morning, as if he were about to fall asleep standing up.

But it turns out he's a sleeping tiger?

Yet, with his fair skin and no visible scars, he doesn't look like someone who's been through fierce battles.

Unable to make sense of it, Niu Jingyu's expression turned serious as he asked Liam, "It seems you're not a rookie."

"But do you think you're mentally prepared? Ready to fight fearlessly, even to make the ultimate sacrifice?"

"No," Liam answered decisively.

"Why should I sacrifice myself? If someone has to die, it might as well be my enemy."

Niu Jingyu was taken aback. In this age of youthful fervor, such a response was quite refreshing.

"Well, what if your enemy is far stronger than you?"

"Then I'll run."

Niu Jingyu's eyes widened. "And if you have a mission to protect people? You'd just abandon their safety?"

"And what about my own life? Isn't disregarding my own life also irresponsible?"

Niu Jingyu was momentarily at a loss for words, unsure how to continue.

Why did it suddenly seem like this guy had a point?

After collecting his thoughts, a faint smile appeared at the corner of Niu Jingyu's mouth.

Having a personality was good for a superhuman because it made them less susceptible to being corrupted by deities.

But...

After pondering for a moment, Niu Jingyu flipped his wrist, and two short black blades, dull and unsharpened, appeared in his hands.

"Kid... want to spar?" Niu Jingyu offered one of the blades to Liam, keeping one for himself.

"No powers, just physical strength and combat instincts. Show me what you've got."

Liam glanced at the blade in his hand, recalling how he nearly slit his opponent's throat during the freshman ceremony. He shook his head slightly.

"I might not know how to spar properly right now."

"I get it, kid. You don't need to hold back with me. We're fighting for real here."

With that, Niu Jingyu's eyes blazed with blood-red light. The killing intent he had unleashed earlier returned with tenfold intensity, enveloping Liam.

Liam didn't hesitate. His eyes glinted with ferocious malice as he entered combat mode.

Both of them moved almost simultaneously. Their short swords shot towards each other's throats, their speed as quick as lightning!

Liam furrowed his brow. He was used to trading blows to ensure a kill, but Niu Jingyu was different from his previous opponents.

Realizing he couldn't withstand it head-on, Liam twisted his hand to block the attack, then swiftly aimed for Niu Jingyu's left chest.

Niu Jingyu's movements mirrored Liam's; he too found a fatal spot on his opponent, striking without hesitation.

The two of them clashed in a whirlwind of strikes, like two violent storms colliding.

Necks, groins, temples, chests, back of the heads, spines...

Every target they aimed for was lethal!

The students watched intently. Most of them couldn't quite follow the action, but they found it incredibly cool, and it gave them an excuse to rest a bit longer, which was nice.

But the female assistant wasn't as relaxed. Sweat beaded on her palms.

These two were going all out!

Even though the blades weren't sharpened, at this speed, a single mistake could lead to serious injury...

The longer they fought, the faster they became. Liam's eyes were full of fury, while Niu Jingyu's were icy cold. Both seemed to view each other as mortal enemies.

Finally, after a mistimed move, they came to a halt.

Niu Jingyu's left hand clamped down on Liam's stabbing sword, while his right-hand blade was pressed against Liam's throat.

A smile finally appeared on Niu Jingyu's face as he said, "You were slower by a tenth of a second. And you misjudged the weapon's length."

"But to hold your own against me like this, you're definitely—"

"I don't think so," Liam interrupted, catching Niu Jingyu by surprise.

Looking down, Niu Jingyu saw that a layer of ice had formed on Liam's blade, extending it by ten centimeters, poking right into his chest.

Niu Jingyu: ...

"You cheated. I said no powers."

"But those are your rules, I never agreed to them," Liam replied.
